View Full Version : If Richo plays CHB for the season he could win AA
I think it might be worth a shot - If we cannot find a suitable sub for thursfield.
I could see the big fella win AA at that position.
Said we should play him down there last week.
Totally agree.
If he has his little supporting link ups he'll inspire.
Would even run up forward chance permitting and slot one.
Just as long as he doesn't take it upon himself to take bounces and try to show any finesse.
lmfaooo@his attempt at taking a bounce through the centre square last night. He has the peripheral vision of a cyclops.

Seeing a bloke get AA doesnt excite me.
Just means he will put the club over a barrell more come negotiations.
Especially at our club

footy is becoming a young mans sport...i think it's almost time Big Richo called it quits.
From memory Richo was tried in the backline for a couple of games near the end of the year a few seasons back - and it wasn't pretty. He may do ok filling a hole in defence as a loose man ala Benny Gale, but I don't think he'd be so good if he had to be accountable for the opposition CHF every week.
I thought our forward line looked better this week with Richo moving straight up the ground. Although we didn't get may goals, having him a bit further up creates a bit more room for Jacko, browny and co to move around in. I'd have Richo starting around the traditional CHF spot.
But one thing is certain. Some time in the next few weeks Richo is going to kick 6 or 7 goals and our Richo love-fest will be on. :D
His attitude was entirely different back then.
At leasst now he realises that hes an old man and must do what he can do best to maintain his place in the side.

Does not matter where they play him .... he is always a bag of laughs .
But i am warming to the theory that the further away from the goal square the better .
Not much has been made of this stat but the share of goal kickers with neither Browny or Richo really contributing is another plus from last night .

i love how in footy at 30 your an "old man."
30's not that old, especially for a big forward. Serious injuries aside I'd love to see richo playing for us for another 4-5 years. I don't care if he kicks a bag, just as long as he's taking the best backman and relieving pressure off of our up and coming forwards like jacko (and cleve when he arrives.) Richo is a champion and those bagging him of late are pathetic. We would score 0 goals without richo occupying the star backman of each side. He's an asset to the side whether he's kicking his 5 a week or not.
Richo in the backline is like us waving a white flag. We will not win a game this year without richo up forward.

Interesting that we've won more games than lost when the champ wasn't playing though.
LMAO

Yeah, our forward line does seem to function a lot more cohesively when hes not in the square, and you're right its very encouraging to have goals kicked from our lesser likes for a change.

Good point.
IMO every decision we make needs to be with the 5 year plan in mind and I see Richo across half-back as a stop gap measure. For me I cannot see him fitting into a slick rebounding defensive unit.
It also begs the question, why would you take one of the best constested marks in the competition and play him at CHB. Most opposition sides would take that in a split second. Get him to lead up a wing and support with hard runners and he will be more of an asset IMO.

Not convinced Richo would make a CHB, not the most accountable fella in the world...and with JB already playing in the Back 50 like a millionaire dont think we need two of them....Im no mastermind coach but I would have thought a midfield/wing roaming the centre square maybe a pivotal role he could play well..:thumbsu:

How does Richo drop marks in the forward line and take them in the back line?
He could still manage to be the 'village idiot' and a village full of idiots !!!!
Who'd buy him now anyway?........Ashton Circus ?

I'm not saying you're wrong but i'd like to know where the hell you got that interesting stat from.

Well for one he didn't have Max Hudgton on him, nor was he triple tagged like he is up in the forward line. It's not rocket science.

No doubt would be the best CHB in the league.
Similar to Whitnal but he'd just be much better at it.
Pity we need him forward.
