Deledio will have 2 or 3 brilliant games per year and 5-10 good games per year, Griffen will have 10 very good games per year, and 10 good games per year.
Deledio is a match winner.
Griffen is consistant.
Griffen, just.

i might be a bit biased and therefore making my comments a bit invaled, but i would have to say Deledio.
Griffen has the making of a superb player, but Deledio has the making of a superstar and has already had an impact on games for richmond, whereas Griffen hasnt influenced any results for the dogs yet. Its the difference between just a strong team contributer and a match-winner.
Lets not forget that Griffen was runner-up to Deledio in last years rising star.
One thing that nobody can argue about tho, these two are by far the best second year players in the comp. Nobody else even comes close.
On seeing Griffen today and Deledio, I've slightly changed my mind on who is better.
Both will be stars, but Griffen will be more consistent and hence be damaging more often.
Deledio.
Please spell the boys name correctly son!!

not another one of these polls:rolleyes:
Deledio for me, was better last year and has been better so far this year.

very similar but different players, both lightning quick, both have fantastic foot skills, both have that flair about them but deledio seems to be more of an attacking player where as griffen although he plays as an attacking defender he still seems more comfortable in the defensive half of the ground. deledio seems to have that chris judd lightfootness about him, where as griffens feet pound into the ground as he bolts up the wing, both great players in there own right but like someone posted before deledio is a matchwinner, griffen is a solid performer i'd take either but deledio will be a name that will be talked about in the voss, hird, buckley mould in years to come
There is a reason why Deledio won the 2005 rising star instead of Griffen last year.
Two games just isn't enough to make Griffen better than Deledio. For a number three pick, he is extremely good.
Griffen slightly ahead atm in physical development, bulked up nicely over the summer and has the better body to manage impact injuries in AFL.
Both very good and both teams have reason to be optimistic, these comparisons are like trying to call the premier after round 2, wait and see.....

Griffen - More powerful, harder at it, more of a leader.

Griffen slightly ahead atm in physical development,
11 months older.
Top age compared to Deledio being the youngest (or there abouts) player in the draft.

Lids is now 90kg, apparently. 3rd biggest bench presser at the club.
Grif also has a very dodgy knee.

It has to be the 2008 Brownlow Medalist - Ryan Griffin
Who cares? I'll take both or either.

Deledio could not be 90 kgs. He'd be lucky to be 80.
That said i think Griffen, hes a bigger player with pace and his foot skills are unbelievable especially at full speed

He bench presses the 3rd most at the club.
He is pretty tall for a midfeilder so he can get some weight about him and keep his lean figure.
Got a abit of size in his arms/chest now.
Lucky to be 80kg my ass.

That said i think Griffen
Fair enough.
hes a bigger player
Deledio, Brett

Griffen, Ryan

When you factor in the kids are in their 2nd season and Griff is 11 months older I don't think "being bigger" will be a factor long term.
You'd think they'd be similar.
with pace and his foot skills are unbelievable especially at full speed
Also one of Lids many attributes.

Deledio easily
May sound biased dont mean to but Deledio is a player who can take a few contested grabs a game and always sets up a few goals kicking it big inside 50 and has won trhe hawks game in roudn 21 and also done the same thing against the cats btu we onyl just lost that game he has more sense of what to do with the ball im nto tryign to take any good things away from griffen but griffen is a player who is the dogs run out fo the backline and doesnt have the same effect as deledio does when deledio is doing that

Slightly off topic, but i dont know how accurate that website's statistics are considering Deledio is listed as 81kgs on Richmond's official site

I don't know if the AFL site has been updated.
I heard Wallace a couple times on radio say Deledio is pushing 90kg.
Happy to be proved wrong.
Is there any chance the bench press stat is based on a height/weight ratio.
At our club we make an allowance for the fact that the talls will be stronger due to length of muscle, it also reflects strength and speed are more important than strength alone.
If he is indeed pressing third most on raw data then it probably says just as much about the rest of our list as it does about his improvement.

Is an extraordinary stat, if true. No reason to think it isn't either, heard Wallace said it the other day, and he lifted some big numbers even in his first year.
Almost too close too call. Both will be great players, maybe Griffen, but by the closest possible margin.

He bench presses the 3rd most at the club.
No big deal at Richmond at the moment.
Its more about who spends the most time in the solarium.

also abit biased but deledio is abit more versatile imo, has played as a key forward and has kicked goals aswell as playing deep in defence, and well we all know he can play in the midfield.
Griffen i think is the new scott west, cosistant midfielder who gets alot of ball,
could be wrong but i dont think griff has had an effect anywhere else on the ground.
but in conclusion i'd be happy with either or both but coz im a tiger my vote is for Lids.

Official statistics from the sites mean jack because Andrew Walker is 190 cms and 92 kgs compared to the "official" 189 cms and 85 kgs.
Back on topic, I prefer Griffen because he's a Rolls Royce who doesn't appear to have pace but is football quick like Marc Murphy and both appear to glide across the turf to slip away from their opponents. :thumbsu:

Griffen isn't like West. Griffen won't ever get as much of the ball as West but is more damaging when he does get the ball. Griff has also spent a lot of time playing half back, not just midfield
