The Starchild

This has been discussed at length on 'TBV' but thought I'd ask if anyone here knew what the hell was going on regarding our veteren's list.
A while back on the official site O'Sullivan stated that Braddles was our only veteran and we'd be selecting 5 rookies and Ratten was on our primary list (main list). I am under the impression that Ratten IS eligible for the veteren's list and he should be selected on it given that it would free up around $150,000 and a spot on the list which we could utilise in picking up Robran (a tall defender) to aid our overall defensive structure.
Now I read that Carlton are unsure whether they were going into the pre-season draft or not, now guys/girls this is truly confusing. I'm assuming there's only one player we'd go for in the pre-season draft and that's Robran (obviously because of our structural weaknesses), the listing of Ratten on the vet's list would free up space and cash to get Robran, but O'Sullivan made those statements and I'm wondering if he actually knows what he's talking about sometimes or if he just whims it or maybe he really doesn't know the workings of all the AFL cap/list rules at all. You'd think a man in his position should at least know the rules given that it all affects us directly in who we can select or not select, especially given the precarious predicament we could find ourselves in should one or two of our main defenders go down throughout the year with injury.
What do you all think? Do you know what is going on?
