View Full Version : Port vs. Sydney @ the SCG
Nearly the end of the first quarter and the Power are up by 9 points.
I can't believe I'm about to say this, but this is a very entertaining game. High pressure, intensity and quick movement. Port Adelaide looks more desperate.
Chad Cornes, Salopek and Wakelin the best to quarter time.
it is a good game sor far. the new rules are working wonders on sydneys style
Is Barry Hall playing? The AFL live scores has him down there but not a possie so far and fanfooty has him down as out in my live team. This is going to kill my dream team i tell ya!
Wakelin would have you all thinking that Hall isn't playing. But he is on the field looking very lost and confused.
Again, I repeat, very entertaining game.
Port leads 40-26 after a good team effort by Sydney resulting in a Nick Davis goal.

Port are playing beautifully, brilliant pressure and attack on the ball.
Some shocking 50 metre penalties going Port's way though :thumbsd:

Half time can't come soon enough for the Swans. It's hard to see how they are going to get back into this game. Port are winning all over the field.
Port 8-9, Sydney 4-2

Absolute bull******** from the Swans. Pathetic effort.
I made Fremantle my certainty last week and Sydney my certainty this week. Strange that...
Yup, weve had the run of the umps so far, but Sydney arent playing clever football. All but about 2 frees were there.
Game certainly isnt over and given some of the second halves we pulled out last year, Sydney are still very much in this match.

he's had one posession. caught holding the ball :D

They were there, but soft. One was a technical 50 when Motlop was lining up.

Port is looking like the team that will be impossible to tip this year. Don't think Sydney have the offence to make up this difference so long as Port don't go to sleep.

I think Sydney might bridge the gap to around 25-30, but it's been a pathetic performance from them today.

We're used to getting thrashed by the umps. We've had more free kicks than the opposition in two of the last twenty-one matches. The two that we actually were ahead in were by one and two free kicks, respectively.
This game is just the same old same old in that respect. I think there's been three or four dodgy ones, but they haven't made the difference. The difference is that Port have put in a Bloods-like performance, and we haven't.

Fremantle .... a 'certainty' ... at Aurora Stadium???
Sorry, Charlie, I have reconsidered my prediction of Sydney winning the flag and now I will be surprised if you even enter the finals with a double chance. Geelong, Adelaide and St. Kilda seem to be the main threats at the moment.

Never again. I have learnt now. I didn't realise there wasn't a direct flight from Perth to Hobart. The flight over takes a lot out of them, as does the flight back (as evidenced by last night's below par performance against Carlton).

Sydney have been terrible, pretty bad considering they unfurled the flag.
16 free kicks to 5. What a difference a week makes.

Why couldn't Sydney have played this bad in the GF?
Bunch of hacks.

Nick Fosdike goals!!!!
Port Adelaide 13-13, Sydney 5-4
91 to 34.
C Cornes brilliant. 3 Brownlow votes coming up.
Hall gets first kick.
Goal for goal. 98 to 40.
This is one strange game. Both sides seem like they are running on egg shells, too afraid to give away a free. But Port are playing bravely, taking a chance, different to last week.
98-48
Home crowd so quiet I can hear the "Power" chant on the TV.

Dwayne Russell is a mental pigmy isn't he? Just finished saying Chad Cornes has taken 13 marks, then he takes another one. Dwayne asks, "How many marks has he taken now Denis?". Commetti replies, "14". :D

About right...Sydney have kicked something like 7 of the last 9 goals.
Full time: Win 106 to 80 points
Power really should have won by more they played twice as good as the margin in the end shows.
