Just give it to Thomas, or else we'll be hearing it from the Collingwood posters all week. :o

Matt Rosa for mine, plenty of touches playing in a high pressure game between two of the leagues top sides.

If Rainsey keeps his form going it will only be a matter of weeks before he is nominated. Foley also should get one later in the year 18 & 13 touches in only 59 and 56 minutes in the first two rounds.

No Clint Young in the poll? What does the kid have to do? Was better than Thomas on the weekend and doesn't even get a mention.

Averaging a touch every 3.5 minutes.. The best avg in our team after 2 rounds.:thumbsu:

You haven't been paying attention to the Rising star nominations of past years.
They take into account the whole season's performance usually.

thomas will get it this weel but for me there is no question Raines has been better, he has got the ball just as much as thomas and been making attacking runs off HB as well as being accountable for his man not just letting his man run free

Exactly my point. This award is a media award. Clinton Young was drafted in the rookie draft of 2004, and was promoted towards the endo of 2005. He managed a few games last year and has already started this year off well. There has been no fanfare, no wave of media expectation and hype, however, he has shown he can play.

Contrast this to Dale Thomas who, moreso than Marc Murphy, the media seem to be creaming themselves over. On this site, in particular, every second thread seems to be about Dale Thomas. Problem is, Dale Thomas, thus far, has shown no more than Clinton Young, yet Thomas will be expected to get a nomination before Mr. Young.

Dale Thomas did nothing special on the weekend. Sure, he had a good bauk, but other than that he was loose, did not get a contested possession and his second and third efforts were non existent. I'm not saying Clinton Young was harder, stronger or had more flair, I am saying he played a better game. His footskills were better, he went in harder at the ball, ran just as fast as Thomas and played a game that was on par, or better than, Dale Thomas'.

Thomas easily, however i believe the rule on wether a player who has played 10 games is eneligible is crap and it should be for anybody who is in there first 3 seasons of footy.

We get it you want everyone to talk up Clinton Young and I wish people would talk up Nick Maxwell too. But there is no need to make statements like Thomas's 2nd and third efforts were non existant this shows you weren't watching the game as he was chasing and tackling all game. He may not of got alot of contested possesions but his role was playing HFF/wing and to roam free, it's not his fault Hawthorn are stupidly unaccountable. He didn't have much of an impact but neither did Young by any stretch. Shaw played as good as a game as him and was his 2nd game in 2 days but oh no you can't talk up a Shaw.
