I week for jumping the fence and belting a spectator, not happy, what was he expecting, a Knighthood? I have heard from a independant witness who was at the game who reckons the abuse Levi copped from said spectator was a disgrace and I for one minute do not condone that spectators action and the apparent lack of action from Sth Morang who it was reorted turned a blind eye, but it is not upto players or anyone else to take the law into there own hands and on that basis 1 week I would think is pretty lenient. So please have a good hard look, they should have gone through the right process in the first place and forget the excuse that the League would not touch it because F/P are not financial, because if they had gone through the right channels then I can guarantee my club and probably many others would have supported F/P going through that process instead of straight into the arms of the media virtually straight after the game. F/P intentions were quite calculated in this regard, they knew the **** was going to hit the fan over there involvment in another incident and bypassed the League and the clubs altogether. Is everyone aware that there was 3 racial abuse/villification incidents in the Eastern League that weekend also, no news reports, because a D.V.F.L. club new they could get a headline and ran with it. Very poor form to say the least.

gay and the nolan bros were far too smart, and good, for the panther today.really enjoyed the contest, eltham never too far out of the game all day.didnt bother grabing a record this week,so cant comment on said players.game was generally played in h/bergs 1/2 of the ground as scoring shots(19/12)show.bergers-good.umps-good.ground-fair.panther-set to roar.

The sooner clubs like FP , watsonia, Parkside, Kinglake and South morang play in a 3rd division the better or just roll up and fold would be even better. GO EFL
That's the sort of pathetic attitude, that stuffing local footy up. Yes, it's bloody ridiculas that there's a 16 team Division Two, when it can be so easily split down the middle to create a Division Three, but clubs like Kinglake, Watsonia (and even Fawkner Park), are just as important as a Bundoora and Heidelberg (I know that they have the same attitude when it comes to Kinglake), and have as much right to excist as the Division One clubs do, (and anyway Lower only got up by 4 points against Kinglake, so they mus not be that bad).
On another matter, I know that South Morang could be a lot more successful that they are if they had better leadership at the senior level (It's amazing that South Mornag has all the juniors in the world, and have historically been a weak side, whilst Mernda, who have few juniors, manage to be competitive nearly every season), and like Fawkner Park, they to need to get thier house in order, but they lost all sympathy (and lost the moral high ground) in my eyes by doing what they did last Wednesday, and the cynic in me suggest that this was nothing more than a way to deflect attention away from themselves.
Although it's fair to say that South Morang were lucky to avoid getting a fine (or at least a repimand), but that still doesn't change my opinion on Fawkner Park's tenure in the DVFL.
P.S
We're all biased in one way or another, (I lean towards Mernda & Panton Hill), but I admit I do have a biased opinion on Fawkner Park, (based on a lot of horror stories about them in both the Ammo's and the DVFL), after my car got scratched with car keys, ruining my paint job, when I watched a Fawkner Park/Mernda game a few years ago, and I haven't been a fan since.

I have never been as proud to be a Lalor bloke as I am today. With as many young blokes in the side as we have got, to show the pride in the jumper and attack the footy like we did... words cant describe that. Boys like Thomas, Delcus, Bailey, Shackelton, Miles, Czerny and Summers shows that we dont need to spend the world to gain the world. We have home grown talent, the heart and that pride that cash cant replace. We lost today, but we were clapped off the ground because our sponsors and supporters saw heart and a passion for each other and our jumper.
Im as proud as anyone could ever be with a losing side. The Lalor spirt is alive and well. And that is one thing that you so called "successful" sides can never ever buy, or take away from us and thats a thing called desire. We have the history and we also have a future.
GO BLOODS :D

This is the stuff we would should be hearing about, a club taking the courageous option and going with the youth and getting some rewards. It makes that success taste all the sweeter when it eventually happens. Congratulations to Lalor for having the guts to recognise it and run with it. Should be the focus of all clubs, look after your kids and in the end not only will the club thrive but the comp will as well.

Guy`s just heard today that one of tireless workers of D.V.F.L. football passed away today in Lew Hall. I began my assosciation with D.V.F.L. football in 1988 with Research u/15`s and as far as I can remember Lew has been in charge of the D.V.F.L. junior system for ever and a day and I`m sure anyone who`s played junior footy in the Valley and in particular been involved in Rep sides would have a story or two to tell about Lew. Apart from his passion for junior footy in the Valley Lew was also famous for the long conversation, once Lew started talking it was very hard to shut him up, but that was Lew. Great man with a great passion and probably a little ironic in that with the focus on some of the crap that has gone on in the past couple of weeks, the death of Lew Hall will bring the League and it`s clubs together in unity to celebrate the hard work and life of someone who wanted the best for the League and the kids who were the future of it.

Thats sad Brutus. My mum used to work with Lew and we used to see him at the footy all the time, and he allways took time to ask how my brother and i were going with footy. One of the great people involved in DVFL footy for a long time. The Lew Hall trophy, which is what junior clubs play, for will hopefully mean even more to whoever wins it this year. ver sad news.

I really don't condone what has happened in regard to this, even though I am a FP supporter and believe there is a hidden agenda. But, I will stick up for them when they are called the things they have been called on this board. You can get you car scratched anywhere, you can be abused by opposition supporters anywhere. I recall games where FP supporters have been attacked in the car park after the game. The problem is that most times the initiators come off second best.
I heard tonight that the after match at Fawkner with Macleod was great and FP supporters were saying how great they, and their coach were.

And I hope your mob are cashed up and ready to part with some serious coin next year if you want to retain his services. There are already several cashed up clubs from decent leagues that are vying for his services in 2007.

Bit hard to gauge Webber and Trew's performance under the conditions. They both played a half and will be better for the run. Goodluck playing on Elthams ground for the rest of the season. Absolute shocker....as bad as Montys 3 yrs ago, most players just chucked their shorts in the bin rather than bringing them home to wash!
I see Wallan had another lost. Are they just pretenders or will they ever be serious contenders. I watched them play whittlesea last week and there back 6 gave 100% without any help from there midfielders. Then I read in the paper against Panton 4 of there top 5 players play in the backline aswell. Wallan midfielders are slow and lazy and without the likes of Poorter, Vidal, Rogers on the oppisition bif forwards and the run out of defence from the the bell twins wallan could have had a couple more losses. Midfielders take a look at your backman and they will show you what teamwork is all about.

Beaker are you suggesting that two ordinary games from the midfield and they are slow and lazy? What about the game before whittlesea when the midfield were responsible for a 9 goal last quarter against mernda.
Not every midfielder has to be super quick, they also need to have a good football brain and know how to get the footy.
But to say that the likes of Whiteway, Gibson & Smethurst are lazy is a detriment to their characters.
Gibson and Smethurst are two of the hardest working players I have seen( game time & training), and Whiteway has that much passion for the jumper he leaves nothing on the field & continues to get the hard ball week in week out.
i was just looking in the gvfl thread in there last couple of pages and it looks as if marc bullen is going to go play up the bush in their leage who was the one that stated he is going to be playing with the burgers ..... does anyone no what is really going on with him?

Nothing wrong with Wallan's midfield really. I think they are a touch off the pace compared to the top few contenders (admittedly we haven't played them all yet) but they are a very good side. Probably a couple of players off being a serious threat, but on their day a very good side. Rubbish to suggest that they're all lazy apart from the back 6.

Disappointing to hear Lew Hall Passed away. Great Bloke and one of the truely passionate die hard football fanatics who gave so much to junior football in the DVFL. It will be hard to find someone more carring than Lew around the local DV area. I'll make sure I wear a black arm band for him on Saturday even though i'm now in a different league. Do we know if the DVFL are doing anything for him at this weeks matches??? They should make all clubs wear black arm bands.

You might be surprised what he has agreed to play for at the Colts for the remainder of the season, his main reason for going there was to play with some close mates and help them go back to back and as far as next season he will make up his own mind where and what standard he want's to play and we already know that.

Obe1 - People on this thread don't believe sun shines out of bums, nor do we think our league has a monopoly on toughness, regardless I think our eyes are wide open.
For example, with my own eyes: I have seen the ***** heads at Port Colts, and the inferior standard of Western league...as for your earlier post about mucking up - and your comment that Caddy and "all men stick up for what they think is right" Christ?! Are you serious? You make it sound like Caddy's many indiscretions are out of acts of revolution...he's not Nelson Mandela mate - he's f-ing footballer and a bloke who likes a fight.
I agree Ob1 - it's a big wide world out there, unfortunately it’s full of clueless dribblers ... and you my friend are one of them.
or as Yoda might say "Obe1... very big dribbler... he is".

The point to the original thread was that the Colts are currently happy with the situation as is. If and when there is a reason to state otherwise they will. As for the fella in question... you take people as you find them, we all have bagage, some have the ability to learn and move on with it others dont.....time will tell. You and your fellow posters have tared and feathered him for ever and a day.....maybe with some good reason.. the point is we dont care.... we are about moving on if Saul can help us achieve our goals , well and good, if he cant then we will deal with that if and when it arises. It was never an attack or a comparison on your league or the quality of footy that is played out there. so tell me jewels what was the last wrfl game you seen cause i play in the dvfl but i have also watched port colts play a few games this season and play in some very good games with fast skillfull physical football being played and the standard was very good but in every league you get your standout teams and you get your poor preforming teams and in my belief besides the top 2 i think that 3 teams from the wrfl would beat the rest comfortably and would challenge the top 2 the standard of footy has dropped in the dvfl unless you have teams in the top 4 playing each other but even then i saw north play heidleberg a few weeks back in a very boring lackluster one sided games even though it wasnt a huge win heidlleberg never looked like being pushed
as for saul playing at the colts i think youll find that with the very well known and respected people running the club he wont be able to step out of line without being pulled up very quickly but i think youll find that with a change of scenery and different blokes around him he will just play his footy enjoy his time and maybe even win a grand final but in saying that if by soe chance he did muck up im positive it would be a very different story to what went on at north

Reading the undertones of your posts I can see why Saul has the reputation he does within your league. You dont come across as a kind of person people would want to be around either. All you can do is take people as you find them. Maybe you and your league have some underlining issues?? Saul has been up front and honest in all regards to date and after 30 years in the caper my opinion of him is as I expected him to be. As for the coin ,it is a win/win relationships for this year only as explained to me. Sounds like there may be a sour grapes/jealousy from your point of view. As for mucking up, all men stick up for what they think is right, maybe you sit down to pee?? who knows??
Obe1 hey... I hate when nerds profess to know what they are talking about. Ive known Saul as a mate for years you stooge, and I wish him all the best in whatever he chooses to do. I talk to and see him regularly. You on the other hand sound like your infactuated with him already. Id suggest you stalk someone else :D

27 Jun 2006, 13:13
Mitch our mate Matchwinner has not been heard of for quite a while now, do you think it may be conicidence that a certain Back Pocket player`s computer has been out of action for a similar time?
Yeh ok Stu, you've got me. Your RELENTLESS pursuit to uncover my identity has been successful. The name should have probably given it away though! After all, how often does a back pocket player kick the matchwinner??? Something I could only dream about. Although if I could replicate Malcolm Blight's torp that day at Princes Park I could probably snag one from the back pocket at Para Road.
Interesting time of year in divi 2. Playing sides we haven't played for years and who, the way the fixture has been structured are not supposed to be that good. The real challenge is to make sure that you don't take anyone for granted and rock up ready to play. With six or seven teams all on the same wins a loss could really set you back. And turning up switched on is important when you consider that every bit of percentage could be very crucial come season's end!
Not sure that I agree with how the fixture is structured though. We play three teams twice this year and the rest once, so I reckon that after round three, the fixture should be mixed up, rather than playing the top sides from last year all in a row and then the bottom sides from last year all in a row.

Let em go J&B. Let them beleive what they want, they have known him for a whopping 5 days. Do him and Kane even know their names, I think not. Their pathetic little club doesnt rate in a comp that doesnt rate, and if it takes Saully to get people to talk about them then so be it. Give em their 15 minutes of fame. But if anyone thinks that the "respected" blokes at the club will pull him up if he wants to muck up.... your in for a bit of a shock, beleive me.

In fairness, the ground did slosh up after a huge deluge halfway through the 2nd quarter. At the time, bergers had just snaffled a couple of quick ones to put them by that marging ahead.
But, the Panthers may well have been right in it at the end, had the downpour occurred when the scores were level.

I have some views hotspot.
They will finish third. Far better off this year than last year. Last year limped into the finals after being beaten by West Preston at West and Lalor at home, had a heap of injuries and Bundoora made easy work of us in the first elimination final.
This year, team is stronger- have not had T. Watson for weeks but he will be back, have just got Swindon back and still have Ottens (who will play again this year) and Ricky Frost to come back into the team. Not saying Mont will win it..not even saying they will make it - just that they are better off than last year.

Well Matchie the pleasure is all mine, it`s good to see I have not lost my investigative genius. It was a case that had many a Bear Cave follower scratching there head, but not I the Brutal one, with careful planning and manipulation I was able to piece together all the clues and finally the clue that convinced me of your identity "the computer failure". What a master stroke sending that Virus to your computer. Just goes to show all those years watching TV shows such as Scoobie Doo, Get Smart, Night Stalker, The Rockford Files and who could forget Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp have finally paid off.
Now to your football comments Jase( I can call you Jase can`t I). All your points are valid and I agree the draw is a hassle but unfotunately with 16 teams you are never going to have n ideal draw, the only way to alleviate the problem is to bite the bullet and have three divisions but unfortunately some clubs cannot grasp the concept which is unfortunate because all they are doing is condemming themselves to years of mediocrity and no success. The challenge for us is not to lose another game to one of the sides that has been gifted the easy draw and build to the games against Borough, Mernada and Ressa and also hopefully get over our injury woes.
Good to have you back Matchwinner, all at the Bear Cave have missed you.

I agree with you moxy, whiteway would be one of the best in and under players in the comp, Gibbo just runs all day and gets plenty of the ball and smethurst would be in the top two for our BnF at the moment, and abbass is getting alot of center clearnces for us with big bernie tapping the ball down to him. And well Moxy, you forgot to mention yourself. You have been great for our club when your out on the ground instead of picking the splinters out when your sitting on the pine.

Kane has been good without starring thus far, has struggled with his foot injury, which limits his training. Cant question he's approach to the game or he's attitude. Would love to see him 100%. He has shown in glimpes that he can be very fleet of foot and has quick hands. Has fitted in well with the rest of the blokes and will only improve as time goes on.

Muscat - Coaching Heidelberg's women’s side. Also has the State coaching job for the girls.
Sharpen - Came and went in the one year. Not sighted since.
Cooper - Coaching Port Douglas (Viola took PtDouglas to a flag last year with Cooper as captain)
Mann - disappeared. No one has sighted him for 6yrs.
Byrne - HFC board of selectors. Fills in in the 2's when short which has been quite often this year.

I was speaking to some blokes up at Hurstbridge when we played there, and they reckon that Eltham's ground is being done next season, and that Eltham will play up there next season - not on the Hurstbridge ground which is currently being refurbished, but on the temporary ground that they are currently using. If anyone's played on it, it's a complete and utter cow paddock.

Just a By note to your comments.
A) Eltham do use the "new rooms" for themselves and they are quite sensational.
B) Old Rooms have been renovated and extended for away teams, and also enclose Panther Medical room.
C) A significant grant has been sought for doing up the playing surface and it is likely that this will be undertaken next season.
D) No decision has been made on where EFC will play Home games if/when they are required to vacate for the refurb. However, I think you would expect that the Panthers would rather play on the grounds of the Eltham Cemmetary or even Montsalvat for that matter, than the option you have suggested of the Hurstbridge cow paddock. :o

No doubt - I'm sure they'd rather play in someone's backyard than up on that Hurstbridge mudpile - just relaying what I was told by some blokes up there - perhaps they have heard something from the council regarding where they expect Eltham to play next season while the ground gets re-done.
I know Eltham is highly rated for finals in cricket season as well. Not sure about DVFL, but in the DVCA it is to do with the ex-Eltham blokes on the executive, nothing else. The ground itself is a disgrace and not deserving of any type of finals at any level. At least if it gets a bit of a spruce up, its standard might match the games it is allocated by the corrupt motherfruckers in cricket season.

I'm mates with Dion the Ricer - and the "MadRicer's" posts are far too articulate, and Dion is far too computer illiterate for it to be him. I have my suspicions... but it's definitely not Dion.

Rock - you seem a very intimidating and scary fellow - what with all these internet threats. We are all petrified, you've made your point.
This is thread is quickly degenerating into a dribblers fest... all those interested in talking DV - lets get on with it.
Creek V Eltham a very important game for both clubs this week, should be a good one.. also I wouldn't be surprised if Epping get over Nth H. Thoughts?
Dion th Ricer is that the guy from Mont that they call Diesel, if so he has had an intresting visit down at the Port Melb Colts ive been told.

Hey Blubber Wrap,
I don't know how DVCA allocate finals and frankly don't care. I do know that DVFL do very little to favour Eltham if anything. FULLSTOP.
The ground may not be flash now, but maybe one day it will.
Irrespective, The viewing of Football , Cricket or even Bubble Warped Nongheads like you, would be second to none at Panther park.
No other ground in the valley has even half the character of its setting.
