He hasnt been training, but I do believe Wallan are in talks with him. I have heard from a mate from West Preston though that he has said is is definately playing with the roosters this season.
It would be a up there along with the signage of Brandt to Macleod as the biggest moves of 2007.

Does anyone know how North Heidelberg are traveling?
Speaking to a former player of theres and he seems to think they will finish last this year. that came as a surpise I know they've lost some key players but have they picked up anyone?
Went for a drive (LOOK) around grounds last wednesday night, and this is what i saw :
Reservoir - Had about 10-12 training. Did not look too flash. Only saw a bit, and what i saw was not hard training. The club had some old guys playing soccer (i think they were not Reservoir blokes). If they were, Ressa look quite un-fit. If they weren't, Ressa look to be in BIG trouble (number wise). Too early to call
West Preston - Now that was a training session ! Watched for a little while. And boy were they made to run! Number were approx 35 actually training. They seemed to have some new recruits, the new ones looked like they were the big fellers. And i mean Big fellers. At least 6-8 of the man mountains. The little fellers looked real good, and fit. Matty Calcutt won amost all the sprints in his group, and really looks the goods. The big boys were big, but as expected, not too fit yet. Very impressive.
Parkside - @ junior ground - Numbers were approx 20-24. About 18 were training the time i looked on. From the sidelines looked the most impressive. Due to red training singlets. Although the West boys were mostly shirtless. Not 1 Parkside player went shirtless. Were running most of the time. Had some very fit and fast boys there. And also some unfit and struggliing lads too. Did look tight as a group though.
#NB - Saw Wastonia train before Xmas, and was amazed at the numbers. At least 50 on the track. Studied them closer and watched carefully during skills work, and it was apparent that not all of the 50 could play too well. Many were having a dip, but not quite polished. Numbers were very impressive, and no doubt through weight of numbers, they will be able to put a very good 22 together.
Until next time .......
BTW - I wouldnt mind coming to watch your club train, and post on here my thoughts. Because most club cannot train on their ground, its hard.
Priv Msg me your clubs details, and training venues, and i will come, LOOK, and post.

Does anybody know the facts about what Stage 4 water restrictions will mean for the '07 season?
I.Y.C.D.A.W,
In one word, stage 4 restrictions would ensure the '07 season is. -
********ED
Stage 4, does not allow for the watering of any sportsgrounds other than the exception of professional sporting venues. i.e AFL venues and training facilities.
The trigger point for automatic stage 4 introduction is Water Storage Levels of 29.3 %, but may also be introduced if by agreement of State Govt and the Water Retail Companies. The current Storage Levels are at 34.5%.
Might be time that you start polishing up your stubby holders, because there is a real possibility that there will be no Local Footy, anywhere.
P.S check out Melbourne water website or ring 13 water for more info.

hey Guys, Keep your ears posted to the news wires. Bracksy will be calling a press conference within a week or so to announce the death knell for local footy...Stage 4 water restrictions. A long pre-season is assured for all. If this is announced in the next week or so expect the DVFL to advise before the 1st of April that the season is canned.
In terms of footy goss...have heard that Thomastown recruited well. Can anyone confirm??

DIAMOND VALLEY FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Following a Special General Meeting of the DVFL last night a number of motions were passed (see below) which in essence saw the resignation of the current DVFL Board and the appointment of an interim administration, under the control of AFL Victoria, until at least a Special General Meeting is held on Monday 2nd April 2007
AFL Victoria’s Chairman Bob Tregear was appointed by the DVFL clubs as interim President of the League and Mr Darryl Collings (AFL Victoria Club Development Manager – North/West) will take on the role as interim Secretary of the League
At the meeting an interim report on a review of the League being conducted by AFL Victoria was presented. This report highlighted issues relating to corporate governance, fiscal control, strategic direction and structure of the league. These and other related issues will need to be addressed by the interim administration and DVFL clubs over the coming months.
Between now and the 2nd of April AFL Victoria’s interim administration, with the support of other AFL Victoria resources, will work with DVFL clubs in establishing a constitution that suits the rigours of today’s requirements. It will also assist the clubs in establishing an independent board, rather than the old representative style board, and assist in securing new administration staff to manage the League into the future.
Further, AFL Victoria will continue to provide support for the new DVFL Board and administration over the course of the next 12 months.
AFL Victoria’s Chairman and interim DVFL Chairman went to great lengths to highlight how important a healthy and vibrant DVFL was to Australian football in the northern suburbs of Melbourne and was confident this review, and the decisions taken last night, will go a long way towards ensuring the most appropriate league structure and management processes necessary for the future of the DVFL are set in place.

Local Government has the final say, as they own the grounds and allocate them to the clubs - or as they have indicated this year, to the leagues. As I mentioned the other day, I have been made aware of a meeting of all councils last week in preparation for the introduction of Level 4 Water restrictions.
By the way, Templestowe isn't in the DVFL any more. They left well over twenty years ago and are now in the Eastern League.

the news i hear from my next door neighbours aunt's sister's masseur who plays tennis smoking cigars is that the councils except whittlesea all want to have the footy season go ahead. footy Vic also want the season to go ahead and the insurance companies want the season to go ahead. So what is the stumbling block?
Seems the councils are waiting to see what happens to with the state government and stage 4 restrictions so no matter what decision that they make they can blame someone else for the current situation. I wish our councils would have the balls to say sport is an important part of the social structure of the community and in particular football with its participation rates not only for the kids and seniors that play, but for the crowds the games generate is a vital cog in the community and should be played at all costs. Even if it means carting in water to make sure our grounds are playable.
I mean where is council sticking its head in regards to this one?

Recently spoke with the President of a club in the western Region League and he indicated that their local council has left it up to them if they choose to play or not this season. This dude preferred that the season did not go ahead but advised that the WRFL were wiping their hands of the decision. If this is the case, the WRFL are going to get a huge influx of players after the DVFL announce this year's season over!!

G'day mate,
At the moment some clubs can train on their own grounds, but other clubs have to train on park lands, athletics tracks, school ovals and tennis courts.
Unless we get some decent rain soon there may not even be a dvfl footy season, which would be an absolute shame because our comp. must start and go forward and it can't do that if theres no footy!!!

Those blokes should count their blessings that nothing happened to that kid, especially the instigator. The kid had 2 relatives in that nightclub last week that are very well known within the darker circles of Melbourne, both very very violent individuals. Roy Ward makes the following statements
--"I want you to listen to me. I'm going to say this again. I did not have financial misappropriations with that man, Mr Floyd. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time-never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the Diamond Valley people."
--"Sometimes I think I have no idea how I got to be president, and I am sure the people who oppose me don't either,"
--"I must be the only person in Diamond Valley that every time - I dont pay the minimum tax rates - every time I sign that tax form, I smile. I thank God I live in a country that gave me a chance to make the money I do in the way i do,"
--"When I was alone with Mr floyd on certain occasions in early 2000 and once in early 2001, I engaged in conduct that was wrong. These encounters did not consist of financial misappropriation. They did not constitute financial misappropriation as I understood, But they did involve inappropriate use of league money."
--"These inappropriate encounters ended, at my insistence, in early 2007. I also had occasional telephone conversations with Mr Floyd that included inappropriate banter." These where forwarded to Football Victoria
--No, not necessarily misappropriation only. But it would include misappropriation. I believe, I believe that the common understanding of the term, if you say two people are having a misappropriating relationship, most people believe that includes misappropriation. So, if that’s what Mr Floyd thought, then this is a truthful affidavit. I don't know what was in his mind. But if that’s what he thought, the affidavit is true."

I got told the same thing on Sunday. If those blonks knew who that kid is related to, they wouldnt even breathe near him. Everyone knows who the main instigator is. Id suggest he pull his head in, before he gets "burnt"...The young bloke is a good family friend of mine and its all been sorted out so don't worry about it boys it won't be happening again.

Watched THOMASTOWN train last night and they had a bit of a scratch match. Must admit, they looked pretty good considering the time of the year. They appear to have picked up a few big blokes as well as a skinny goal sneak in a St Kilda training top that looked like he could play.

if afl vic are going to hand down a report on april 2, then have elections for the new board, how can ANY of the current vice presidents run as there hasnt been a police investigation as yet?
How do we know that any of the current vice presidents have or have not been complicant with floyd and co until there has been an investigation?
Surely this alone means that no previous members can be elected? And if so will that mean we get people on board with no real experience who are not DV people?
As I see things there is only one possible VP that can re run as he has only been on board 2 years and couldnt have been involved as he would not have been let in the inner circle as yet until he proved he could be a trusted crook like those involved in this.
Is there anyone from here that will put up a hand and jion the league? with all the advice seem on here there should be some good candidates.

On your stage 4 no football rumours, I think it would be an extremely huge call for anyone to call off local football. Think of the consequences both social and economic. I think there is alot of rumour out there and not alot of fact. On the radio yesterday it was reported that only 2 leagues in Victoria had decided to reduce their seasons, DVFL plus a country league, all other leagues were starting on schedule (source, AFL Victoria). AFL Victoria has stated that the DVFL will start on the first weekend in may with the loss of possibly 3 grounds ( As reported in local Valley Weekly paper). THe one thing that I don`t like about Big Footy is that alot of unsubstantiaited rumours are started which cause alot of angst among us supporters (Stage 4 Doomsday rumours).
As for how other clubs are travelling pre season. Lower Plenty is looking the fittest I have ever seen them, alot of the younger guys have bulked up and done the hard yards. Apparently they have lost 2 players from last season in Ryan Elliot and Mark White (Ret) but have picked up at least 6 first recruits inc a smokey who could take the latter half of the season apart (former AFL), add to that Nathan Gage, Super, Andy Knee and Dave Mitton who are all quality but were lucky to play 10 games between them through injury last season and Lower should be at the pointy end.
People who wouldnt want the season to go ahead?
-The TAB
-Some parts of the afl (imagine the xtra interest in afl)
-People who own pubs
people who would want the season to go ahead?
-Bar staff: can u imagine how many drunk squabbblers there will be round the bars on a saturday arvo/night if there is no footy played.

Really sets up an even competition in Division 2 with all teams playing each other once. The best teams have every chance to be playing off, from top spot to 5th. Lalor, Macleod, Thomo, Lower and Whittlesea for mine, not in any particular order.

I think it would be very unwise to write off Lalor, despite what you hear about players leaving the club. They have a very proud history and a very good recent history in divi 2 (except for possibly one Grand Final result against Hurstbridge, where maybe they got a bit far ahead of themselves.)
