Chanderpaul quits as Windies skipper

Shivnarine Chanderpaul has resigned as West Indies captain after just one year in the job, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) revealed today.
The 31-year-old left-hander, who succeeded Brian Lara as captain, led the side to just one win in 14 Tests and two victories in 16 one-day internationals.
"I would like to take this opportunity to tender my resignation as captain with immediate effect," Chanderpaul wrote in a letter to the WICB.
"This would give me an opportunity to focus on my batting and other areas of my cricket where I would be able to make a more significant contribution to the team.
"I have served my time as the captain and would like to pass the mantle on to another person. I would fully support my replacement and work towards the good of the team.
"I would like to thank all who worked with me during my tenure as captain and I am looking forward to continuing my hard work for West Indies cricket."
Chanderpaul has played 94 Tests and 183 one-day internationals since making his debut for the West Indies in 1994.
Vice-captain Ramnaresh Sarwan is expected to lead the side in a home series against Zimbabwe and India starting later this month.

Maybe this time they'll find someone who really wants the job

Not sure Sarwan would be a good captain either - give it to Ramdin, he couldn't do any worse

Choose?

No matter who they choose, they'll end up getting sacked or resigning after a little while anyway.

West Indies cricket is a mess, and whoever the captain's gonna be ain't gonna change that. Their problems lie a hell lot deeper

Who do you think has the most leadership out of the youngsters who will hopefully guide them back to where they belong?

Ramdin is a strong leader.

Thats about it I reckon.

Don't have a great knowledge of Windies kids, one of the few I do know is Ramdin, but the bloke's still awfully young and should not have the captaincy and island politics thrown upon his young shoulders

Quite frankly I don't really care who leads them, they'll still be a rabble
