I've heard talk about dropping Mark Waugh from the Australian team. What does everyone think about this?

And who would be the best replacement if he were to go?

People have been saying that for about 4 years.
As there about to nearly drop him, he comes out, hits a century and he's saved.
He is a better that really frustartes me because he is so inconsistent.
They won't drop him because its 'MARK WAUGH' but, if they did, he's likely replacement should be Simon Katich.

Yep Katich would be next in line. He's definately in the selectors mind because he played a test during the Ashes tour, and his ton today would of helped his cause too. I don't think Mark Waugh will get dropped against South Africa unless he fails badly in Melbourne.

Drop the bugger I says, he hasn't done anything special in a while, not to mention he is old :D

What did Katich make today? I heard he was on fire and made nearly 150 runs or somewhere around there?

How dare you say the great man should be dropped.. haha.

He had an unbelievable Ashes series and last year against the West Indies he was about as consistent as you can be.

You can't call for his head after a couple of fails, I think he deserves every oppourtunity possible eg: Mark Taylor is he infact does go into a bad patch. He has certainly earned it.

He will never be dropped from the Australian team, he will finish on his terms. I suspect at the end of the 2002/2003 home Ashes series will be when this happens.

His batting has always been overated his real value lies in his slip fielding. He is easily the best in the world and turns matches with some of his catches.Keep him in there i say.;)
