Jarryd Waite will not take the field against the SYdney Swans this Sturday night. Today at training, he participated in a few motionless handball drills then came straight of the track looking very uncomfortable. He was unable to move freely at all and will be a late rithdrawal from the game.
In good news, Lappin completed the entire training setion and even stayed back to have goal kicking practise at the end. It looks like Lappin could be pushed forward in the absence of Waite to gi9ve us an option other than Fevola.
Most likely Jason Saddington will replace Jarryd Waite. Lapping and Whittnal will play forward to provide us with a target and Saddington McGrath Teague and Thornton will have the duties of matching up Hall Oloughin Davis and OKeefe.
Brad Fisher looks to have recoved from a hamstring strain and was put though many drills testing out his hamstring. He was the hardest worker at training, running in zig zags and tight turns for over 45 minutes. He looked to have close to full mobility. Initially he participated in the short and long kicking drills and looks likely to return next week.
Youngster Josh Kennedy did not train with the main group at all. He did a lot of fitness work including 4 laps around the ground the warm up. The fitness instructer was continuously testing him off the mark, pushing him and it looked like the kid responded. At the end he looked very tired but this will do him the world of good seeing as he missed basically the entire pre season.
Overall, the main group session was very good today, infact as good as its been for a long time. Very vocal, full of run and encouragment.
Hopefully we carry that into the weekend and beat the swans.
GO THE BLUES!!!

Damn it. Is there any chance he'll play, or is he definetly out considering the way he trained?

It's such a big game for us though. His absence better not be the difference. :(
I reckon we have to keep Lance down back. He's been great there this year. If we move him now, his form could drop and the backline might collapse. It's too risky. Instead we should move Kouta to CHF. He doesn't have to kick goals, but we'll need him as a link up man. Hopefully our midfielders can kick some goals too. Might be worthwhile playing Betts and Simmo at half forward.
I still think we can win...

If Thornton plays on Hall then O'Loughlin will have a blinder and vice versa. Livo should be brought back in

Yeah, no running from Waite who (along with Kennedy) mainly did reflex work with Libber. He looked sharp otherwise. Pretty sure he won't be playing tomorrow. A very coy Simon Lewis QC was whispering a few rows in front of me, but you ain't fooling anyone Mr Director. Waite isn't playing. I think he'd like to see Hartlett in as his replacement. Not bad thinking, but it seems Denis has other ideas. For now.
I didn't see Simpson on the track. Bannister was squeezed into his jumper like it was a sausage skin, but I couldn't spot Kade. No Davies spoted either, but he's not eligible yet anyway. As you say, good to see Fish running strongly. Maybe next week for him.
I was pretty impressed at the work Terry Daniher was doing in one-on-one sessions. It looks like cleanly trapping mis-kicks is a specific drill these days. His session with Bryan to basically improve his hustle to contests was very smart, although whether Bryan can improve in this area is another matter. He didn't look like he was in any hurry today.
I had a little trouble telling the new faces what with all the swapped jumpers, but you can't hide Bower. He needs to grow the 'fro - it'll make him a cult figure overnight. I wonder why Kennedy wasn't training with the main group - is he injured?

The days of Kouta holding a key position are over. Maybe a rest in a forward pocket, but otherwise on the ball, or on the bench. I admit, CHF is a worry with Waite in the stands, but Kouta ain't the solution. Sentata had a stinker last week, so I doubt he'll be picked, and Kennedy didn't train with the main group for some mysterious reason. Hartlett perhaps? He did come as a forward...

Kennedy has a slight groin strain and is not available this week, shame as he would have been chosen.

He was there, and did most of the session with the others. He and Daniher went aside to practice the mis-kick-trap drill and then Skinny had a few shots. He looks OK.
Pity that Waite is going to miss, he could have really caused the Swans some headaches IMO. I'd leave Lance down back and maybe even consider throwing Lappin forward, as you would think Saddington would come in from the 3 emergencies.
