Hip-Hop 4 Dummeez and Late Night Impro. I'm looking forward to seeing HH4D as I'm pretty sure I know of one of the guys in it, and LNI is always good value... great improv for about ten bucks! :thumbsu:
I've also heard good things about The Soubrettes (http://www.thesoubrettes.com/).

Hi All,
One of our Big Footy Own ahs a show at the comedy Festival
BF poster Yianni has his own show
He's on at the Trades Hall from 8.15pm Tuesday-Saturday
Paul
Just back from Trades Hall. Missed Yianni (but will go back another night).
Friend of mine has her own show, D-Cuppetry (Muppetry of the mammaries). A female version of the Puppetry show.
Full house tonight - but tix available for a few shows over the next fortnight. A good one to take the missus along to.
Didn't go last year but went and saw Lano and Woodley perform their show The Island. Just about laughed all the way thorugh, these guys are quite simply very very funny.

I saw Mark Watson tonight, not bad, kind of still working out what works in Australia and what doesn't, but it is a show worth going to, a good few laughs, thought the title of his show "50 Years Before Death And The Awful Prospect Of Eternity" doesn't really provide much of a guide.
Going to see Danny Bhoy next Saturday with a group of friends and then on ANZAC Day I'm going to see Dylan Moran. Really looking forward to it :D

I saw the Lion, the Bitch and The Closet last week...
The Bitch (Christine Basil) was OK.
The Lion was hilarious. It's like the worlds worst children's entertainer. He's a full blown alco and his sidekick Leslie is great.
The Closet are two gay blokes dressed up in bondage gear. Sung songs that were quite funny. Fun for the whole family!*
*well perhaps not seeing it starts at 9:30.

COMEDY FESTIVAL REVIEW
ACTOR, writer and cabaret performer Emma Powell must be as persuasive as she is amply endowed. Somehow, after devising the barefaced notion that became D-Cuppetry, she convinced her mate Louise Steele to sign up, strip down and join in.
The nerve of these gals is considerable. The very idea of baring one's chest in a place more public than the locker-room at Fernwood is unthinkable to all women who elect not to become professional teases. Not only is it broadly regarded as unseemly to reveal one's secondary sexual organs, ladies are often paralysed by fear that their funbags are not up to scratch.
Powell and Steele are on a mission to upturn such notions of feminine perfection. Visual culture is oppressive, they explain as they reveal their enviable plenitude. The revelation of their own 30-something abundance is striking a big wobbly blow for womankind.
It's pleasing to see the bouncy pair distance themselves from their masculine point of inspirational origin, Puppetry of the Penis. Those blokes tend to be a little scant with their searing social observations. Louise and Emma, by contrast, genuinely do their shaky best to disturb convention. But, goodness, they do manage some excellent ****** tricks. The Doughnut is an early shocker and a gymnastic highlight, the Baby, must be seen to be entirely understood.

Want to get to Dmitri Martin and Arj Barker this year.
Last year saw Stewart Lee, Rich Hall, Mike Wilmott and Jason Byrne. All very good, with probably Rich Hall and Stewart Lee the standouts.

Same here. Arj Barker has always made me laugh in the past, and I've enjoyed what I've seen of Dmitri Martin on the comedy channel. Also want to see Lano and Woodley in their last show and maybe Tom Gleeson...Nothing Suss! :D
Demetri Martin is a must see! Great show, very clever, very funny.
Danny Bhoy & Ross Noble are both good, Ross wasnt as good as previous years though.
Big Rich Hall fan, very disappointed this year. His stand up show with Mike Wilmot was full of last years gags, and Mike Wilmot is pretty cheap and smutty.
Rich Halls play 'Levelland' was boring and.... boring. Really disappointing.
Arj barker was awesome again, great timing, highly reccomend.
For something different consider Freestyle Love Supreme, a group of young guys from New York who put together a different show every night. Entertaining and clever.
GO SEE DEMETRI MARTIN - THE NEXT BIG COMEDY STAR FROM THE STATES
I really want to see Demetri Martin. Seeing Lano and Woodley, which I'm very much looking forward to - giving up going on my cricket end-of-season trip for it!

Going to see Danny Bhoy again in a couple of Sundays, saw him in 2004 at the Fringe Festival in Scotland and was awesome. Saw him last year, but it was the same material that I had already seen. So this time , new stuff and a better laugh
-Mav
Yeah I highly recommend seeing Arj Barker. I dont know if I've laughed so hard in my life at some points of that show - a very funny man he is. If you do go, get there early and run to the front if you can, get as close as you can because it always helps, especially with someone like Arj who uses facial expressions for some of his gags.
I saw Demitri Martin and Arj Barker last year. Demitri Martin was so funny that I will definitely see him again this year. Pure hilarity.
I found Arj Barker to be kind of disappointing last year but his show had a weird theme to it. It was set up like a seminar or retreat of some sort and wasn't as funny as I'd hoped. I'll give him another shot for sure but not this year because I'm poor and Demitri Martin and Lano and Woodley are at the top of my list.

Hi All:
Caught a few comedy festival events whilst in Melbourne last week:
Tripod - Good, but not as good as they were previously.
Wil Anderson - Brilliant! The pick of the festival - a sure laugh.
Ross Noble - didn't rate him much at all. Disappointing.
Corinne Grant - okay, funny in parts.
Cal Wilson - How can you not love her? Go see her - 'Up there Cal Wilson' is brilliant.

I caught Late Night Impro at the town hall a second time and it was sold out again... the show was even better than the week before. :thumbsu:
It appears as though Lano and Woodley have sold out for the rest of the week. :(
I presume allocation exhausted is ticketmasters way of saying 'sold out'.
Saw Dylan Moran last night.
I thought he was fantastic although most of his material was from his 'Monster' show that he did in the UK and because I know most of it off by heart from watching the DVD/listening to the CD I didn't find it as funny as I would've if I hadn't of seen that DVD. He's still probably my favourite comedian though.
Saw Dave Hughes and Wil Anderson the other night.
Very contrasting styles, Hughesy laid back, Anderson looking like a kid with ADHD.
Both were fantastic though.

because im poor i couldnt get to any shows again.
just watched the re run of the gala on tv just now. the only one i really laughed at was stephen k amos. yes he opened with the african accent like last year, but he always makes me laugh.
i dont like will anderson. i dont find over the top swearing funny, and his constant screaming aint my thing. but i guess thats whats good about comedy, everyone likes something different.
even dave hughes doesnt make me laugh. ditto corrine grant (terrible).

I've missed out on tickets to Arj Barker, but will see Dmitri Martins late night show "These are other jokes" next weekend.
Saw Lano and Woodley tonight. Hi-friggin-larious! I even got to go up on stage at one point. And the scoop...after the Good-bye tour, the're doing a reunion tour next year with John Farnham! :D

Saw ArJ........very funny again...Seen him two years in a row.
Only downpoint was the overuse of last years material..
Saw Lano & Woodley for the 10 billionth time..and once again I was blown away. First half was slowish, but the 2nd half more than made up for it...geat shoW!

saw rain prior a while back-some funny bits but overall very disappointing.
also saw austen tayshus- this man is a comic genius. he is :D:D:D:Ding hilarious. if you can get tickets (im not sure if hes done or not) i highly recommend him. however, most of his jokes are jewish related and would therefore recommend it more to jews than non jews. also, if you can, AVOID THE FRONT ROW!!!!!. absolutely rips into the people in the front row, whilst absolutely hilarious it must be upsetting at times for those in the front row. at the trades hall, had me laughing the whole time and even now!
cant wait for next year-will be finished school and driving on my own-will be able to see many more acts-come on!!!
