Hawthorn will be travelling on a high after this week's win against a very strong side. How do you think The Blues will go answering the call? And if Fevola gets rubbed out, will that have a huge impact on the game?

Last 2 weeks we've had to play teams under pressure coming off bad losses.

We can take the Hawks, we beat them once last year without Fev .. however Waite kicked 5.
If both Fev and Waite were playing ... they'd have a hard time matching us in their defence. They'd have to play Croad back.
thats only if they play of course

setenta is a big chance if waite isnt playing. i dont think waite will be playing (damn) and i would like to see kennedy come in but maybe he needs 1-2 week with the bullants. lappin may have done his AC joint not looking good.

Bring On Kennedy:D
Hawthorn would start favourites, especially if Fevola get rubbed out, and Waite still misses with injury. Add Fisher and Lappin to that and we need some of our players to really stand up.
Setanta and Hartlett would have to be a chance, and i'd like to see Blackwell come in for Chambers.

Hopefully Fisher and Waite come back, Fev shouldn't be suspended. Don't reckon Lappin will play. If the three do make it, than I reckon we're a good chance to win.

Usually it's 21 days for a hamstring, which would put Fisher around the 18-19 days when we play the Hawks. Doubt we would risk him, so i'd imagine we'd give him another week.
I agree with you about Fevola, he shouldn't be rubbed out, but how would you ever know with the way the Tribunal operates.
You're right, Waite will probably play, given that he just missed out on Saturday night.

Fisher said it would be 1-2 weeks before he woudl be considered selection and Waite is starting runnning today (Monday) to see how he is going, but after seeing him on Saturdays game he was walking with a bit of a limp so I wouldnt be suprised if he is rested one more game.
If Fevs out (most likely in my opinion) Setanta will have to come up I think and maybe move Whitnall back into the forward line? We know he is capable of kicking a bag and might be our only option..

there was nothig in it i'm confident he;ll get off it hope the tribunal throws it out io watched it over and over even in slow mo and i can;t see anything so he won;t go :)
Ill back up those who have already said it, Triple M believe he has been offered one... if he appeals you;d presume he wil get off (at least one of the criteria is usually debatable!!)
Either way we need another key foward, is why we lost on saturday night... we had no option around CHF - De Luca is average at absolute best as a key option. Sentana, and hopefully Fish or Waite get in for lappin and de luca.

Hyperthetical.
Fev, Waite, Fisher all out.
We would have noo tall forwards.
Setanta + Kennedy
THEY MUST PLAY!!!!
Its time for these two to prove themselves in the AFL.
Would be great to see the emergence of a new AFL power house in Kennedy, and Setanta playing FF from the square.
imo, for the game against Hawthron
OUT: Lappin (inj), Fev (sus.), Sporn
IN: Bannister, O'hAlpin, Kennedy

Theres no Hyperthetical. We will be without all 3, and at this early stage i dont think that Kennedy or Setanta have anything to prove at this stage, Setanta could be debated as he has been in the system for a while now, but at this stage Kennedy has nothing to prove, he has played one vfl match after shoulder surgery.

With our three best forwards out, De Luca will NOT be dropped. Kennedy will not play CHF right off the bat. Saddington does not look up to playing key position after a very rusty start last week.
Fisher 60 to 70% to play
Waite 40% to play.
Lappin 5% to play (needs a miracle).
Latest report on those 3 blokes.
If Fev loses his appeal then one of Kennedy or Setanta comes in for them if Waite and Fisher dont come up. Bannister for Lappin most likely.
Sauce : Sweet chilli.
Thanks mojo. So we're taking the risk and contesting Fev's suspension?
Thanks mojo. So we're taking the risk and contesting Fev's suspension?
Kennedy a bit sore this week in the groin. Hartlett injured. Setanta no games and form is a worry. Kennedy needs match fitness but no game. Fisher borderline hammy. Waite a thigh which can take 2 weeks or 4 to get over. Fev is our only form forward who is fit.
In 2 weeks all those other blokes bar Harts will be up and about and available most likely. So if we gamble on Fev this week and contest and lose him for 2 weeks we can cover him in round 5 with others. But this week who is going to cover if we wear a 1 week early plea? No way can you take Fisher and Waite both in this week. Maybe 1 .....maybe.
So strategically its worth the risk. Just depends on whether we can get a few of the criteria downgraded. That whole "medium" contact rating where Kirk was not hurt is where we will look. Change that and suddenly we get him for the next game. He took the shoulder and not the head. If he turned and hit him with his hip to the head then he would deserve 6 (like Pickett).
Fev at 100 plus kgs would have killed Kirk if he hit him head high. But he got him with arms and legs and the whole medium contact is where the club will be looking to exploit the rules.
I agree that we should contest the charge. It seems like they've assesed the incident as medium impact based on the potential for injury rather than what actually occured. It's a joke if Leppitsch's strike and Fev's rough conduct are assesed as having the same impact.

Fev accepts one week:mad:
Was confident of beating Hawks until this b*ll********!
Might have to rush in a half fit Waite to have any chance now:(
Likely line up:
B: Saddington Thornton Carrazzo
HB: Walker Whitnall McGrath
C: Simpson Stevens Scotland
HF: Houlihan Waite Longmuir
F: Betts Koutoufides McLaren
R: French Bentick Murphy
I: Chambers DeLuca Teague O'hAilpin
EM: Bannister Livingston Russell
DeLuca saved due to lack of talls. Chambers due to midfield rotation but Russell closing in fast. O'hAilpin to replace Fev. Longmuir in for Sporn and could prove to be a real wildcard. Worth a punt. Carrazzo, Walker, McGrath and Betts all to be part of midfield rotation. Kouta to play out of square and take Croad out of play. Interesting game indeed!

Blues to win by 14 pts
Blues to win by 14 ptsi have a feeling we might get smashed. :o
i think we are a real chance to beat the hawks
last week they rallied after all the dawson and clarkson media attention.
its was a great win v the cats and they are on a massive high, but they are still a young side and they might not be able to back up such a big win.
i can't see us stalling on the blocks for a 3rd week and we have shown that if we can be even or have a lead at 1/4 time then we can match it with teams.
this week we are the ones with our backs to the wall and have something to prove.

Yeah, you'd think we are starving for a win. 2 weeks in a row we've come out losers in close matches. This week we'll be desperate.
I reckon we should go with Waite, Kouta, and Deluca up forward. That should be competitive. Although, we're really gonna miss Fev's boot. We may have to scrap out a win... Expect some more flooding.

All we need to do is tackle bloody hard and hit them hard, real hard.
When we've done that this year, we get the ball and control it.
Tackle hard right from the opening bounce and I'll be stoked.

I actually reckon both Carlton and Hawthorn have similar midfields. For instance, both teams are strong in the clearances, but weak in size (unlike Geelong, Sydney..). However, Hawthorn's gameplan is a bit of keeping's off, which worries me. Our only win this season came from a side which were willing to bomb it inside 50 if no other option presented itself. Our conquerors, Fremantle and Sydney didn't do that, and neither do Hawthorn. If we're not accountable from the start, our opponents will get the jump on us for the 3rd consecutive week. Without Fev, it'll be hard to peg back any sort of lead.

If I was Denis Pagan (which I'm not), I would play Kouta out of the goal square, and have Fisher as a marking target across the half forward line.
With players such as Stevens, Scotland, Murphy, Simpson, Bentick, Houlihan, Betts roatating through the midfield the reliance on Kouta to be in there is becoming less and less.
And also with O'hAlpin & Kennedy possibly coming in to the side, we need an experinced head (like Kouta) around them to give them confidence.
Thoughts?

If we play Lance forward then we will be short one tall backman, Lance is desperatly needed down back whereas we can rotate players through the middle to cover Kouta.

Agreed.
I was amongst those who lined up in the Deluca bashing stakes. But am able to see what is going on rather than rely on first impressions. He is improving with each game. He took some pack marks last week (remember the cuase for concern) and played really well. He delivered some appalling inside 50's and this needs a lot of work. however Deluca is improving and this is what matters. So Pagans faith is being paid of and in the end if he becomes a really good player he will be devastating on the 4th or 5th defender (Fev, Waite, Fisher, Kennedy, ohalpin / deluca). Who has that kind of a defence depth.

He has been hintiung at kennedy playing nearly every week he is just messing with peoples heads, Kennedy didn't even have shots on goal at training and spent the last 25 minutes, while setanta was having shots on goal, talking to a young lass in the forward pocket and had to be told to get down in the rooms.:)

Deluca may have something, but unless he can develop as a ruckman, he shouldn't be kept on our list. Not with this awesome draft coming up.
And is it it just me, or can others sense that Pagan is gonna try something unexpected tonight? It just seems to me that Pagan has been holding his cards close to his chest this week.

Threw away the third quarter, which was very disappointing. 2 goals 7 behinds is unacceptable in today's game, and it's that little word Accuracy, which bugged us again tonight. Too many simple chances missed. Can't question the endeavour of the boys though. However, our lack of accuracy really does kill us.
