I'll be glad when they get about 4 teams out of melbourne, 10 is way to many 6 is reasonable at least. The Kangaroos should be the first to go and as part of the deal they should be completly funded for about 10 years by the AFL.

Begs the question though................Is there any other country in the world besides Australia that has nine teams from the one city for a national footy comp?

If that did occurr then why are the AFL so willing to throw away 300 million dollars for a stadium that is only going to be used by one team?
Yeah, because the AFL is going to be paying the whole 300mill for a stadium redevelopment.

Leave the Kangaroos where they are. They have been a great Victorian side with tremendous spirit and hopefully they continue to be a great Victorian side forever.

just realize that the dill Entertainment Machine is banned . What a goose. I wonder what name he is using now.
I'm tipping that ****nuckle didn't even follow the Dogs. Makes me violently ill to see fans salivating over the death of a 140 y/o club, despite the barbs that fly between a few fans on here the decision[gun to the head] is an absolute disgrace
This reminds me so much of the 1989 murder of my club by Oakley and his cronies.:thumbsd::thumbsd:

WGAF what other countries do with their inferior footy codes, we are
Australian & Aussie Rules is our game & unique. I wish people would stop using stupid overseas countries & competitions, to support their claims to kill off teams. If you're unhappy with the way Aussie Rules is run, then PO & follow one of those inferior codes.

well...
London has thirteen League (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Football_League) football clubs, including five in the Premier League (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premier_League) (Arsenal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arsenal_F.C.), Fulham (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fulham_F.C.), Tottenham Hotspur (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tottenham_Hotspur_F.C.), West Ham United (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Ham_United_F.C.) and Chelsea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_F.C.)), plus a further eight in the remaining three divisions (Barnet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnet_F.C.), Brentford (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brentford_F.C.), Charlton Athletic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlton_Athletic_F.C.), Crystal Palace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_Palace_F.C.), Dagenham & Redbridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dagenham_%26_Redbridge_F.C.), Leyton Orient (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leyton_Orient_F.C.), Millwall (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millwall_F.C.) and Queens Park Rangers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queens_Park_Rangers_F.C.)), plus countless non-league (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-league) and amateur (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amateur) football teams.
thats the closest off the top of my head, but as others have said, irrelevant to the AFL.

You played one night game against North Melbourne and your trying to claim you were the reason it was successful?
You might want to read this aswell
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_Night_Football_%28Australia%29
you believe the stuff published on wikipedia? It is all done by word of mouth. Collingwood did infact "invent" FNF, however, it was the Kangaroos which played in the first few.

Its more believeable than the shit that comes out of your mouth.
North Melbourne were the innovators behind it not Collingwood.

It seems to me that a lot of fans on this site and others are hopeful of the Kangaroos moving to the Gold Coast or folding altogether. I can understand that certain clubs are going to be disliked by every fan but this blood-thirsty attitude is disappointing.
Not this little black duck I wanna see them stay at Arden street:thumbsu:

Argentina and Buenos Aires
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buenos_Aires
Sports
Football (soccer) is a passion for Argentines. Buenos Aires has the highest concentration of football teams of any city in the world (featuring no less than 24 professional football teams), with many of its teams playing in the major league.
Buenos Aires the city and national capital is about 200 square kilometres which has 2.7 million people where as Greater Buenos Aires (the Federal Capital + 24 partidos) is about 1850 square kms and has about 13.3 million people or 1/3 of the country's population.
Greater Buenos Aires is about a 1/3 the area size of greater Melbourne.
In the top division, 10 of the 20 teams in the Primera Division (2007-2008) are located in Beunos Aires and 2 are from La Plata which is 50km from the centre of Beunos Aires which is closer than Geelong is to Melbourne. [9 from Buenos Aires + 1 from Greater Buenos Aires]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_football_clubs_in_Argentina
This is a non-exhaustive list of football clubs in Argentina with the current 20 first division teams, and those of the following 6 divisions. The Second Division or Primera B Nacional has 10 teams from the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area, and 10 form the rest of the country. Champions of the Primera B Metropolitana and Torneo Argentino A reach the Primera B Nacional.
Also from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_football_league_system
The Argentine football league system is organised as follows: the first two leagues include clubs from the whole country, while the third to fifth leagues are divided geographically, into clubs from the Greater Buenos Aires area (which holds around a third of the country's population) and clubs from the rest of the country.
Level Divisions
1st Primera División 20 clubs
2nd Primera B Nacional 20 clubs
3rd Primera B Metropolitana 22 clubs Torneo Argentino A 24 clubs
4th Primera C Metropolitana 20 clubs Torneo Argentino B 48 clubs
5th Primera D Metropolitana 18 clubs Torneo Argentino C 218 clubs
6th Local football leagues
The 24 clubs mentioned from the top are only from Buenos Aires city itself and all the others in all 5 divisons come the rest of Greater Buenos Aires area.
Edit: There is also the Province of Buenos Aires which the city and greater Buenos Aires are in as is La Plata as are 3 other teams from the top division.
