View Full Version : WAFL Report Round 4
A few players still out injured.....
Travis Gaspar - Owned McDougall and was a rock in defense
Andrew McDougall - Was owned by Gaspar until last qtr when he moved to defense and looked a millllllllion times better, will probably start there next week IMO.
Damien Adkins - Ordinary, spent more time chasing shadows then anything, seems out of place in what is in general a strong Perth midfield
Steven Armstrong - Very good again, about 26 touches and was Perths best, definetly ahead of Adkins in the queue atm, just playing better in every respect
Mark Le Cras - Good in the midfield, got 28 touches but was a bit wasteful, I got alot of time for this kid, I really rate him and IMO will hit his straps next year, very composed and never cracks under pressure
Ben Sharp - Typical 30 odd possession day for Sharpy, nothing out of the norm, reminds me of Daniel Kerr in every sense from the way he runs to the way he gets the ball, a certainty to be elevated.
Shannon Hurn - A awesome first qtr display, kicked 4 goals incl. one on one step from over 70m out, after that he was tagged out of the game but some good signs.
Ben McKinley - Horrible again from what I heard he may even be dropped to the reserves, not good signs for him atm
Ashley Thornton - Got a goal and spent majority of game on the bench
Brett Jones - Got a bit of the ball (I think 23 possessions) but overall was wasteful and was playing a bit too attacking considering his team was winning by alot and didnt really need it
Alot of players didnt play this week Subiaco had a bye, Butler Spangher Morton Gardiner are still not playing...

Strong midfield? Possibly on paper but (possibly except for Cook) we are unaccountable when the opposition has the ball. :(

I heard that McKinley is carrying an injury...probably groin. Fair dinkum, all our draftees have had groin troubles. Spangher is out for the rest of the year with OP, Hurn is carrying OP but seems to be managing and now it looks like McKinley also has OP.

I liked Le Cras on the weekend. I thought he played very well for the Falcons and showed good speed.

Yeah, I think the club's going to have to be cautious in the way they handle these guys. It would be a shame to see some reruns of Beau Waters.

its probably brought about by the sheer amount of running involved at AFL level, especially at the eagles. I'm not sure if there are or not, but there should be different fitness regimes for the new draftees IMO, seen this sort of thing far too often.

Spangher and Hurn came to us with a history of OP. I dont know about McKinley but I hope we manage them better than we did with Waters, who came with OP but we made it worse. I think we played him abit too early (debut round 3)..thats why I think we might bring Hurn along abit different.

It looked bad yesterday. Everytime he went for a run he followed it up by stretching his groin for a few seconds. I can't see why he is being played at all.

I had OP and that is exactly what I did, I played through it, but every time the ball wasn't in my area I stretched my groin. If in fact he does have OP its ridiculous that he is playing, he isn't a key member of the side and needs to get it right ASAP as it can take a long time to get over (even longer if he continues to play with it).

Last qtr he actually played HBF. I don't know if the East Perth coach was trying to say something to the Darren O'Brien who was watching the game or the fact take there was another 4 talls in the forward line without him.

He was on and off the ground ... I get the feeling the club might be onto it. I would rather he didnt play at all and got it right.

He wasn't really on and off. He played half of the 2nd and 3rd quarters. He played all the 1st and last other than a 2 second stint on the bench to help change a match up in defence 2 minutes into the game.
I would rather they just get it fixed. Rest him for a week or 2, if it gets better then great if it doesn't then fix it. Better to do it now then have a Waters situation where he misses his 2nd year.

If he has OP 2 weeks off wont do much at all, would have to be closer to 12. If I were him I would get it right ASAP and give myself every chance to be selected later on in the season, close to the finals.

Of course they had a different fitness regime, all players are monitored individually and have regimes suited to their personal needs.

Just on Ben Sharp this kid was fantastic last season aswell will this kid be loosing patience by not getting a game for us by now.
Will he be looking for a new club next year or when his contract runs out seams like he is a goer from all reports , if he is as good as the reports say it will be a big loss IMO.
Thought's from you guys who see him week in week out just fill us in a bit more in requards to Sharpy Thanks.:thumbsu:
