For me, Essendon have it wrapped up. After i saw their abysmal defensive effort against the lions it clinched the deal although i did notice Sheedy adopting flooding tactics last week against the dogs to try and nullify the shaky backline.
Brisbane will challenge them for the title and i believe it's purely between these 2 teams.
Carlton, demons and the tigers are clearly better teams then the 2 afformentioned sides mentioned above.
:)
want to takea bet on that ? I'll bet you $1m if you have the balls to take it head on.

on this occasion i can say 'GO DONS' :D
Everybody seems to have jumped off the Carlton wooden spoon bandwagon. They had a good win against Melbourne who played terribly that day and have since lost to two sides that have looked very ordinary in their other matches this year, and to Hawthorn who are decent but by no means a flag contender. Essendon got a good win over Sydney in round 1, had a poor match in round 2 then showed plenty of fight against the Dogs who are arguably the best team in the comp at the moment. I fail to see how we are more favoured for the spoon than Carlton.

Essendon only average 10 goals a game without lloyd
We averaged more than that without him last year. Infact, the last game he missed we kicked 17 goals.

Far from it.
We've struggled in the past, but this year our forward line will have anywhere up to five or six options (perhaps more) that weren't there when Lloyd was last out for an extended period of time.
Sorry to ruin this thread with facts again.

You strike me as someone who knows very little about football.
hows about this for your end of discussion you f**king twit, if they have been so competitive then why are all their percentages worse then essendons, im not a mathematician but that means that we havent been losing by as much as they other teams, meaning we were closer to winning.
END OF DISCUSSION, come back and talk about footy when your team wins another flag DUD
Gee there are a lot of very dumb posts from essendon supporters in this thread. Me thinks the quality of essendon posts matches the quality of their playing stock at the moment.

Yes I bet every other team in the comp wishes they had essendon's playing stock. What a wonderful wonderful team. And you havn't even needed to cheat the sallary cap to bring this champion team of champions together. How do you do it?

Wonder how the bomber's playing stock would go against the eagles at subi and st.kilda. Pity you only play the eagles at the dome this year. Essendon havn't beaten anyone that Richmond have lost too. Richmond has beaten a team that essendon has lost too.

We lost to WCE at Subi by four goals and beat St Kilda last season on the run home last season.

Essendon hasn't lost by 100 points to a team Richmond has lost by a 100 points too.
Besides last year essendon were playing dirty and behind opposition players. Although I do understand your frustration at umpires not winning games for you. After all, being totally reliant on umpires is the way you usually have won games over the past 10 years.

Damm - other teams have finally worked it out.
We've been paying the umpires all these years and thats how we've been winning games.
Its actually quite remarkable that the club is able to turn a profit every season considering all the monies we go thorough in bribes.
Have you let the AFL know or advised any of the footy journalists.

like you cant tell me that the kangaroos, carlton, bombers, lions, dees or port can win the premiership with their lists can you.
swans did it with a few class players and the rest willing to work for the team. if the eagles were ordinary il want them to finish last.

So, when the Swans were 2 from 6 last season, your recomendation would have been for them to try and lose every game from then on !!!

Not hard to comprehend drew j, in simplistic terms for those among us that didn't go to primary school; essendon's youngsters are average, richmond's look as though they are a very talented bunch. Consequently, while richmond may be a chance for the spoon this year, their future is a lot brighter than essendon's. comprehend that?

Not sure about that. Essendon's middle tier players are pretty good, McPhee, Solomon, Bradley... and also have Stanton, Monfries, Lovett, etc. Probably more even mix of talent than Richmond.
You take Deledio out and they really haven't got the amount that Essendon does IMO. The Tigers have a lot of draft picks on the list, but you couldn't possible say how good those players will before they've played a game, so Essendon are in front at the moment IMO.

When a St Kilda supporter talks about wooden spoons we all ought to listen. They are the experts on the topic. Funny to think that the Lions have won more flags in their 10 year existence than St Kilda have won over all their decades.
Going on the culture at St Kilda, as good as their list is right now, you just get the feeling they will squander their riches and be back at the foot of the ladder in 4-5 years whilst the Lions will be back challenging for flags again.

is it any coincidence that the two most powerful on-field clubs earlier this decade will now find themselves fighting to avoid the spoon at the same time? and the clubs lurking near the bottom of the ladder at that stage having a strong list to be contenders for a flag this year?
what we have today is a homogenous product, where your club will be :D:D:D:Dhouse for 4-5 seasons, benefit from this by building a list through an american equalisation tool, become strong on the park for 4-5 seasons, then fall away again when they are penalised by the process.

Its pretty funny that Brisbane are in the depth of rebuilding with an influx of young kids (one of the youngest teams in the comp), while the rabble from Moorrabbin have 1 extra win on the board. Yes the hawks have been blacklisted from me from now on for the rest of the season.
If they can't beat Brisbane then they are just as bad.
Crawf and Croad will help the hawks stave off the spoon but clearly who would have thought they'd lose the Brisbane? Brisbane are a disgrace!!

How do you account for Richmond's lack of success over the last 25 years? Just plain old lack of talent perhaps?
It took 16 years for the draft & salary cap to finally catch up with Carlton. For Richmond it was instantaneous.
