View Full Version : Chatfield Drafted by Cats

Despite not picking up young Winter or Barham in the rookie draft and redrafting a couple more delistings, the whole ordeal has been made worthwhile by the Cats picking up Adam Chatfield! All I can say is that Culpitt, Vance, White and Backwell must be feeling pretty low right now.

I really, really can't believe this. Chatfield was sitting on the bench for the VFL side in 2001. He is the definition of useless.

Well Ezra Bray was sitting in the Grandstands & has been for most of the last 2 years.

Why do you have such a problem with Geelong drafting Chatfield ?
He's on the Rookie list, not senior list.

There's been a fair bit of rubbish exchanged in recent times. We gave you Mansfield, you gave us Murphy, we gave you Murphy back and even threw in Carl (aka Loz) as a sweetener.

Now with Bray and Chatfield crossing over, it'll be a real battle of the titans to see which rookie-listed waste-of-space can have the least impact on his new club.

Will Bray's bad shoulder and ordinary work ethic shine through, or will it be Chatfield's all-round uselessness and lack of talent that wins out - only time will tell.

I'm sure all Chatfield needs is a good club behind him to flourish and turn into a genuine superstar. But instead he'll be at Geelong so it should be interesting. Maybe we could get him to do a Darren Milburn and finish off the evergreen Craig Bradley, I'm sure that'll impress the Carlton faithfull no end.

Have you actually seen Chatfield? :p

Ah well, if nothing else we can compare notes week by week.

"Bray trips over boundary line and fractures two vertebrae"

"Chatfield falls off VFL bench, nobody notices"

Watch this spot.

The only time he'll get near the boundary line is when he comes down from the grandstand to hear the VFL coaches 1/4 or 3/4 time address.

Hey, I've got no problem with it, I just find it amusing. Players such as Doering, Backwell, Vance and Culpitt are WAY better prospects, so that's why I find it strange. Chatfield is hopeless. I know that it won't mean much seeing as though he is only on the rookie list, but we need amusing to discuss over these long summer months.

I didn't know ROTFLMAO even existed in 2001.

And on Chatfield he was on their rookie list and just dissapeared. Probably delisted.

Since he left Geelong Chatfield has been a super played for Old Xaverians in A section VAFA. He's played in 3 or 4 premierships and even won a medal for BOG in a GF. Probably puts him ahead of 99.9999% of people on these forums in terms of footy ability.

True - but this forum isn't about the Ammos. I too get a little miffed when people put the boots into a player solely because he didn't cut it at the top level. All the players we discuss are pretty much better skilled than any poster - cue indignant howls of rage. That doesn't mean they can't be criticized though. :)

Instead of a list of players that you think are hot, why don't you make one up of players you DON'T think are hot. Would be much easier for you BG. ;)

I saw a similar thing at Shepley Oval in Dandenong quite a few years ago now. Fevola was flying around the outside of the oval which was a gravel road in his Commodore, with his arm and half his torso hanging out of the car. You know, similar to what C4 and his mates do on a Saturday night.

That's the beauty of being a female footy fan (I'm sure BG will agree with this one) is that we love the game as much as you boys but we occasionally get an added bonus :)

I remember it as he and Fev were both emergencies and were both called in for the first game due to late withdrawals. l didnt go as l was still playing local footy at the time. I remember seeing him play a fair bit of reserves footy and he seemed to just drift along without ever getting into top gear.

Classic case of 2 players going in opposite directions after their debut game.
