I'm in a footy competition that is based entirely on footy stats from the afl website re players, etc. There's 8 of us in this comp. It's been going since 1995. We have drafts, pre-season and mid-season. Success in this comp comes to those who can identify the best young talent at each afl club re these positions and pick up the kids before the others can. This years pre-season draft (2002), I'm looking at players Prendercast, Beasy, Plunkett, Murphy & possibly Livingston from the Blues. What i would like to know from you carlton supporters is, which of the players from the Livingston/Prendercast/Beasy/Fevola group are the most likely to be the next gun forward and how good will j murphy and plunkett be? (in order if u can...?). All replies will be appreciated as you guys would have more more knowledge than i would re these guys or any others i may have forgotten. I already have Camporeale on my list. Go to www.footywin.com/boys.htm to see how our comps going...provided you aren't offended by nudity!!!:D
Cheers...
Peter...

Prendergast will be brilliant this year I'm sure, he's another Sexton but more stamina and pace. Livingston will likely get a run but wouldn't think he'll be a regular till 2003, Beasy, Sporn, Campbell etc the same. I could be wrong though.
Murphy, provided he stays on terms with the coach, will be in our starting best midfield I reckon. Either that or play on the wing running in. He's better, more attacking and dangerous than Plunkett and will be used as an option ahead of him.
Carlton's best starting midfield IMO is Allan, Ratten, Murphy, Kouta. Backup's Hulme, Bradley, Camporeale, Plunkett, in that order.
We don't play Campo in the middle all that much because we need him on the outskirts running and receiving.
Frankly, and I apologise for this unashamed spam, if you really want to know exactly how good these players all are then you should visit TheBlueView, most of the really knowledgable Carlton fans post in there.

If it is a stats based comp then Murphy is a must. The last time I was in one of those comps, Murphy was a regular and a huge scorer for me. He'll rack up stats no problems and being an attacking midfielder he will kick his share of goals too.
Fevola has the potential to kick a few goals but hasn't shown a lot of ball getting ability. Prendergast is a worthwhile bet.
I'd also like to plug some of the extremely knowledgeable fans on the Carlton Coach's Box, my own Rivals site and the likes of Fat Red and Blues 2001 who are among the very best of the BigFootyites. I find percentage wise, you will always have your share of knowledgeable posters, interested observers and lowest common denominator posters (CIC?) regardless of how many visitors you have.

Yeah that's true, I just re-read my post and realised it came across pretty arrogant :)
Glad we agree on Murphy, plenty of opposition supporters seem to doubt he's much good.

Actually I hope I'm an intelligent poster but I wouldn't class myself as particularly knowledgeable.
Anyway, we all agree on Murphy who I'm rapt to have back.
Murphy is still young... which gives him a great chance of becoming one of the comp's top players. Add Plunkett, Pendergast, Fevola nad Livingston into that list... and you've disproved all the critics that rate Carlton's youngsters poorly. I have also noticed that everyone has forgot to mention Whitnall... as you know, he's only 22, as been Carlton's leading goalkicker on 4 occasions, and has a 70 goal season under his belt, at the ripe age of 21. Will become the best CHF in the league for years to come, mark my words ;)
