Surely now, With huntAA playing a blinder up forward and Jaymie Graham playing a good game down back, now is the time to make the switch. Credit to Glass for his good game. Our spine is nice and straight now!

He wouldnt be as good playing there every game.
As it stands now sides dont really plan for him so he can really burn them when he does play upforward.

Exactly, sides currently do not plan for Hunter in the forward line. He is a great ace up the sleeve for WCE when needed.

I dunno. I think he's good enough to be worth 3 goals a game for us as a FF. Thats 66-odd goals a season, a pretty good return for a FF by anyone's standards.
He is fast, a great contested mark, and reads the flight of the ball as good as anyone in the AFL. No reason why he wouldn't be successful in that role in the long term.
Whether he plays as a FF full time or part time is more a matter of where he is needed more, and not if he has the capabilities to play FF well in the long term.

A lot of people think that he wouldn't be as good there if he was permanantly up at full forward. I find this strange as how do we know unless we give him a crack for 5 - 6 weeks. Jayme Graham can play down back and when Ash Hansen comes back, Lynch can also go down there.
The only thing stopping us from going from a very good team to a great team is a forward who can take a mark when the pressure is on and can kick 60 + goals a season.
If after 6 weeks he has failed, then move him back and for this arguement that it catches other teams out, well that coach should be sacked. Every game he floats down there or plays some time down there, you would have to be a fool not to have a plan or player in mind to negate Hunter in the forward line.
I realise he is a very good player at CHB for us, but if he can become a forward who kicks 3 - 4 goals a game and takes 6 - 10 marks a game, he will be much more valuable to the team. He will always take a good player, will straighten the team up and will provide pressure on the opposition backs, locking the ball in a forward line.
We may win lots of regular season games without a dominant forward, and I know we only lost the GF by a kick, but when the pressure if on, e.g finals footy a key forward will make the difference.
he's probably one of the few in our team who can be counted on to take contested marks in the forward line. give him the gig i say.

I think thats a bit naive dont you think. I think if the posters on bigfooty think he is a viable forward option (and he has been used previously many times) than i'm pretty sure the opposing coaches know that as well.
He has been moved up forward in at least 2 of our first 4 games. I think everyone knows he is a good forward - the only problem is that we dont really have an accountable CHB other than him. You wouldnt leave Graham/Lynch/Gaspar/Staker on somebody like Riewoldt or Brown.

Yes he is the best CHB option for WCE. The reason I said that the opposition don't plan for Hunter as a forward is because he spends generally more time in defense. I'm assuming that the opposition would focus on the regular forwards like Lynch, Staker and Hansen with regards to defensive matchups and strategies. I think if you looked at today's game as an example the opposition looked off balanced when Hunter was sent to the forward line. Maybe the opposition coaches did have a specific plan for Hunter today but it didn't look like it to me.
Hunter has that X-factor about him and I think JW is very clever in using Hunter as a forward at important strategic times

We need to be careful that we don't make the same mistake the dockers did with McPharlin. They were a much better side when he was paying down back.

IMO it all depends on match ups...
IF there is a match-up for Hunter down back then keep him down there but if there is no real match-up for him then chuck him forward and give J-Man the gig down back.
He will be better as a pinch hitter up forward when needed as like most posters have already said teams plan on mathcing up on him as a defender not as a forward so when he goes forward they have no idea whats hit them.
If match ups allow him to move forward then do it if not keep him down back.

Worsfold's comment about playing Graham back in the press conference leads me to think Hunter will spend a lot of time up forward this year.
And he damn well should!

Yeah, I think both these guys will be rotating back and forward this year.
That's one of the good things about the team, there are quite a few guys who can play well back and forward.
I think Hunter is a CHB first and foremost, his performances hold a lot of water though for a move up forward permanently. But right now I still think we are a better side with him at CHB and occasionally going forward if needed to break open games like he so regularly does when moved to FF.
