Wow - Gardiner kicking 6. How many behinds did that consist of?

Fu*k! They're gonna bring Charlie back in now!
They definately are gonna bring Prismall in now. If they don't, I'll be pis*ed.
Grima again in the Best. Are they using him as a forward or what?

I always find myself thinking.. if he was at another club would be better off or worse off?

The other night I was thinking what could we get for him?
Most likely trade would be Dogs or Eagles. What would we want? What would we get?

Prismall MUST COME IN!
Grima yes as a forward generally HFF when Nath and Loners are in the VFL. He is good and plays with a fair bit of ticker.
Gamble is also a likely type. He reminds me of Joel Corey a bit, but is probably a bit better up forward and not as good in the middle.
All in all, from what i have seen of this years draftees I think we have done alright.
Stokes looks a likely type.
Owen has big raps.
Grima should get promoted next year
Gamble as above
West will develop
Varcoe: Heard from an insider that Bomber just LOVES him. Look for him to come in mid year.

Spot on. Would definetely suit both of those teams.

Burn it if they bring in Charley..................Then again we did have lonners ant Nath so we can not do any worse next week
I actually think Charlie would make a lot of sense for a team like Essendon, who don't have a lot of medium forwards who can take a grab besides Lloyd and Lucas.
And I think since he would probably be given game time, he could actually turn into a pretty good pick up for another team.
He should be in this week along with Prismall. At least he can hold his marks unlike Tom Lonergan did on the weekend with small defenders behind him.

I've kept a close eye on the forward line structure in the two games that I've seen live (Brisbane and Bulldogs games) and believe that Geelong are a better team with Gardiner in the team. Whilst I admit that his disposal is, at times, questionable, he is extremely mobile and works hard around the ground.
He provides a good foil for Kingsley in that he allows Kingsley space to mark on the lead. I feel that the forward line against the Western Bulldogs was relatively stagnant and when the ball was delivered to the forwards they were trying to outmuscle their opponent rather than mark on the lead.

3rd round pick? highly doubt 2nd round... Unless we sent him in a bunch. Chuck in McCarthey and Byrnes (as varcoe will have taken his spot) or a small defender (callan, slade) for a higher pick? Or a tall forward. But good. Not Someone like Haynes from the eagles that we got the other year.

If Prismall doesn't get a game something's wrong.
However, leave Charlie in there for another week. He needs to back up next week, not come straight back into the seniors and prove ineffective again.

He played in the VFL on the weekend, I believe he's recovering from another injury - think it might have been a shoulder? I'm sure someone can clarify.

Not sure but you think he'd have shoulder problems for the rest of his career.

Ezbian , sounds like youve been watching a bit of the V's. It doesn't surprise me that our picks all look promising, inspite of others thinking we had an ordinary draft. I have the utmost respect for our recruiting dept, what they have done with the picks we have had has been A+.
How has Prismall been kicking his goals?.Small forward or on the ball?
On Grima, Id be suprised that he would be promoted next year. If Slade, is promoted it would mean an extra space that would need to be vacated Unless they see him imediately being a AFL player, I'd say another year as Rookie would be the go. Who knows what it means for Batchelor?
Question on McCarthy. Has he ever played in the ruck. In a way he is similar to Barnes , heaps of spring and there is plenty of top ruckmen that have been less than good kicks. The way things are going, there is far to many promising forwards and we are light in the ruck. It would give him another option of being on our list cause if nothing changes I think he will be elsewhere next year.

Does anyone know where and when the VFL team is playing this week?
Go to the Football Victoria website (there's a link on afl.com.au then go to game development) and that will give you both VFL & TAC Stats.
The VFL cats go to Tassie next weekend. Anyone got a map???

Yes mate have watched a bit of the VFL this year and have really enjoyed it to be honest. Something about the smell of the grass and being alone in the old hickey early on a Saturday morning. No frills footy, without all the corporate bull&$#@.
On Prismall, he has predominantly been played as an OB. The majority of his goals have also come as an OB who pushes forward. He has kicked a couple where he has linked up with players streaming through the middle, steadied and goaled from 40 - 50m. He has also kicked goals from stoppages inside the forward 50. These have been around the corner type stuff. He actually kicked a replica of the one he did in the NAB Cup against Carlton a couple of weeks ago. The guy is all class, and unlike Tenace, Corey, Enright etc, looks to have ready made kicking ability. It is not something he will have to learn. He has rested in the forward line occasionally but mostly rotates through the bench. Stokes has been soing the same but spends a little more time in the forward half. He is a goer as well.
You are probably spot on with Grima. I forgot about Slade. May as well give him the two years, unless of course someone else tries to snap him up (not sure if this is allowed though?) I would say that the future is grim (pardon the punt) for the likes of Batchelor and Sheringham. Particulalry given that this years draft is mean't to be a cracker.
McCarthy hasn't played in the games I have seen this year, so I can't help with that one. West has rucked predominantly unchanged so far, so I think he will welcome Blakes return.

I read a report somewhere that Gamble took an absolute screamer. Did anyone see it?It happened right in front of me! An absolute pearler it was. I was there the day Sampi took that mark at the MCG and that was equally as good if not better!
Regarding a few other questions people have...
1) VFL website is http://vfl.footballvic.com.au
2) VFL play Tasmania this Saturday at Bellerive Oval in Hobart!
Always love getting to the VFL every weekend, as ezbian said it's no frills footy! I love it!
