I assume that tonight's Port v St Kilda game (which people in Qld/NSW won't be seeing until 11:20) is the reason why we didn't get any free to air coverage of Geelong v Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon?

100% Correct. In fact, I don't even think it's live into VIC because BB will run about 15 minutes late as usual.

Say what you like about Channel 7, but at least when they had the rights, you ALWAYS got to see AFL free to air on Saturday afternoons.

You can't blame ch.9 for that, ch.10 do the saturday games. Uncommited bastards.
You know the Semi Final between Geelong and Sydney was delayed by 1 hour in Perth last year :thumbsd:
And with ch.7 you never got to see non WA teams live :thumbsd:

Queensland. There's all this talk about improving Friday night broadcasts up here. Well, how about they just ensure we get ALL Saturday afternoons on free to air like we used to. And yes YOTC, it is 10's fault in this case.

To be honest, i'd prefer the Monday night game get FTA coverage over the Saturday arvo game, all things being equal.
I just want FNF on at 7:30 in Perth...last time 9 tried that it rated it's arse off, yet the following week it was back at 8:30, and with it about 50k less viewers.

Big brother musn't have rated that well last year. They are not showing it on Southern Cross this year only on TDT (Channel 10s digital channel) :)

Maybe for you guys over there, but seeing as Channel 10 were too scared to show the Monday night game before 11:30 up here, it seems a big waste for us Queenslanders to get that game instead of a LIVE Saturday afternoon game.
I just think it's stupid that Channel 10 only gets two games to cover each and every week and they can't change that to 3 games on weeks like this. I guess I'm old fashioned in that I believe free to air should take precedence over pay TV in circumstances like this.

Huge numbers for the footy, lead into Bert who was up 30% on recent numbers, DOND up about 20, then Nine smashed Seven in news, Seven took over at 6:30, the 7:00 numbers were similar to Monday, then Seven won the rest of the night. Tight battle for the week too - Ten could win as many as 3 nights this week and probably will be 2nd on Friday, while Nine will struggle tonight and tomorrow and Seven will on Friday and Saturday

I think it was just another one of those things that the AFL overlooked in the current TV deal. Add it to the list of 50 or so.
Whether it changes in the next 5 years will depend on the attitude of 7 and 10. They can sell up to 4 games a week to pay, but are just as entitled to sell less than that. You can bet 7 and 10 will be more prudent when it comes to negotiating their contract than the AFL were.

Ten won last night which was no great surprise - the surprise was that apart from Prison Break, nobody watched Seven, and Nine's 8:30 and 9:30 shows were considerably up. In Sydney, Seven won the news hour, Home & Away came 4th, then they were 3rd for the rest of the night. In Melbourne, Seven's only 15 minute win from 5:30-10:30 was 6:45-7:00.

Interesting that Prison Break is the only commercial 8:30 show that is building on its lead-in (by at least 40%, going on those figures). Says a lot about how badly Beyond Tomorrow is doing when PB can only manage 5th.

What chance that this marathon will 'feature' some sad excuse for a host filling in time between episodes with inane banter? Andrew O'Keefe at 5/2, Kochie and/or Mel at 4/1, and a Daddo at 12/1.

Break down on the Biggest Loser
7:30-9:30 average: 2.237
Ten is claiming the real average for whatever time it was on is 2.31, considering the 3.2 million peak was after 9:30 that seems believable, that number also means Law & Order really got its usual number around a million
This week is the first time Ten has won 3 nights in a week since OzTAM took over the ratings in 2001, they have not won a week in that time eitherAnd I guess this is TV related, but the CH 9 Cricket Commentary Team looks like it's in for a revamp with Chappell and Greig under the pump, Warney back in favour and Lawry to stay on.With Nine's cost cutting, no domestic stuff and JB and Nicholas signing long term deals that's no surprise

Great. So now channel 10 are going to keep shoving thier crap down our throats for another five years based on this one week of ratings. I can almost hear them giving the kiss of life to X-Factor, The Hothouse and all the other reality show that have tanked for them over the past five years.
