Just looking through some of the weekends results and was shocked when i saw the DLS 2's thumping OH. Do you guy's look at the 2's results? Do you think it gives you a good insight into the clubs Depth?
I know a lot of clubs use the 2's as a breeding ground for the U19's that don't want to play U19's which is great but does it really mean anything in the big picture?
Just curious as to what you think?
I know in the lower grades the performance on your 2s is often dependent on how many of your 1s players are injured, not sure if its similar for higher grades (I assume not as much if so, due to a bigger pool of players to pick from).

I thought most clubs used the 2's for running players returning from injury back into fitness or for dropping players who were down in form so they can get some confidence back.
Then one club 18 team can be used as a development ground for young players out of the two unders teams until they are ready to take the step if good enough up to the 2's.
Then the other club 18 team can just play socially for a bit of not too serious fun.
The under nineteens should be resticted to just two teams so you can rotate all the players around and give them some breaks throughout the season so they are not over played, a bit like freshening 2yo racehorses between runs.
The 2's are near the top of the heap in this structure, not the bottom.

Yea good points you make. I alway's have a look at the results as i feel it's an indication off the depth at the club, OS won the 2's last year is that correct?
Who is your early tip for winning this year?

De La. Best drilled maggos going around. No real guns, but they just know how to play.

De La you say?
I will make sure i keep an eye on them, should be interesting this week as they are up against last years premiers (who by the looks of things are in good form beating OM's by 120.)

At our 2's mean a hell of a lot to our club.
Last year they were the shining light at the club and played finals the last 2 years, something that never happened before.
I've won a 2's B&F, played in finals and i think that every cub has to support their 2's. If you don't where are you gonna get players from?

I'm the gun (even if you do say so yourself haha) i take it your an OS player?
From memory they are about the only side that have made the finals for the past 2 years? (i could be very wrong, maybe Trinity?)
If you are, how are you guy's looking this year?

I've been at the club for 5 years, I'm not a OS player.
The 2's played off in 04 in divi 2 and last year in divi 1, both times not making the GF. This year we've lost our first game (fittness) had some great numbers this week, 26 players named. Last week was our first time this year we had a bench.
Should win this weekend, hopefully we'll start getting to know the new blokes.

Oh ok, i'm at a loss i'm the gun, good luck for the year regardless who you play for.
Just checked all the results and it appears De Lar 2's went down to Scotch by 3-4 goals so they might not be the team to beat after all?
Looks like Xav's and Scotch both have very strong sides again this year it's all shapping up to be close year for A grade Ammo's (1's and 2's)
Early indications in A Grade are that Xavs and Scotch will be the sides to beat, with Uni, Trinity and De La pushing for the remaining slots.
There's bound to be a smoky in the remainder, who haven't started as well as they'd hope, probably Haileybury from my experience.
Still, it's only two weeks in, injuries can compound, and the form will fluctuate wildly throughout the season.
For some of us, the Magoos mean everything.....

Played De La on Sat, must admit they are a pretty solid unit, will certainly win more than they loose (in the 2's and hopefully 1's as well)
