The Derby, IMHO, is not a "Sure Thing" anymore.

The farcical end to the Saints / Freo game will gel the Freo team like nothing else ever has.

We will need to be playing at our best to account for Freo.

It will help us IMO, what a mentally taxing week for them, they will be dis spirited and heartbroken IMO, we shud get stuck into them IMO

The Derby. What difference does it make. We need to play at our best to account for anyone. We have only played one dominant half of footy that has crushed a team this year. Yes we have beaten teams but we were no where near our best but such is out talent and fitness, and winning ability, we have been getting the job done.

And as for people who think the umpires are going to favour the dockers in the derby to make up for todays farce, forget it. Umpires cannot make decisions in retrospect, if they did, the dockers would have recieved 4 points today

I don't think the umpires are going to favour Freo.

But if CC had half a brain, he'd employ Malthouse's famous tactic of using a negative to gel the team and instill the "We're at war.... its us against the rest of the AFL".

Make no mistake about it, this could be the turning point for Freo's abysmal history.

I agree. If it goes on all week it will not be good for them. Dockers will come out hard but Woosha will have them prepared.

IMO you say IMO far too often, IMO

I think that this will take a bit out of Freo, also travelling To Tasmania and back will have some affect, and the fact they get a shorter break than us (only by one day but remember they have to travell which is 1 less day)
No doubt in my mind that Cousins only didnt play against Brisbane so he was 100% for the derby (he wouldve probably played at 90% if he played v Brisbane)
I think we should win this one, probably not by much though since we always go very hard at it in the Derbys

Good luck to freo for the Derby (Not too much though :p ) and good luck to them in their Battle with St Kilda on the points, we all know who rightfully deserves them no matter how biased we may be :D

Could go either way for them. Could bring them together or could have them questioning this whole thing.

i agree theorangeapple, it really could go either way. One response is to get VERY fired up and come out all guns blazing, the other is to get upset and be affected by it badly, wonder why bother putting in the effort or other random things.

If this happened to us I'd be saying 'WCE will be breathing fire next week'...lets see how Freo take it. I'd prefer to NOT be the side about to find out personally.

Having the media focus on something other than the derby might be a nice chance of pace for both teams... unfortunately for Fremantle they will get the focus entirely on the past week.

I dont think it will have any influence whatsoever regardless of what the outcome is. The best team will win on the day just as they usually do.

Not that I hate to disagree with you :p
But I think this will all blow over fairly quickly media-wise
It may stay in Freos mind for a while though

I really don`t think it will make the slightest difference. Freo where awful today - they will be the same next week.

This fiasco couldn't have happened at a worse time for Fremantle. The biggest week of the year for Freo will be consumed with distractions and controversy about the previous week. No doubt Freo players will be asked by all and sundry "did you hear the siren?" and "will you get the points?"

* Freo's confidence rock bottom; after yet losing another substantial lead late in a game.

* Report of an important player to Fremantle; Farmer

Nearly all the focus will be on Freo this week which will suit WCE and JW down to the ground.

Well said, and I think it also depends on whether they come out all guns blazing, directing their anger at the man, or if they play the ball.

I can't see them winning if they try to bash us up, in any case, we should win the football match.

I dont think it will really matter either way to be honest. Were a far better side and even if they do come out breathing fire, we will just weather the storm and give it back 10 fold. I have absolute confidence in our side to get the job done.

Footy is a funny game, we all know that, based on form, statistics, past records, almost everything will be favouring us. But a derby is not a normal qualifying match and therefore nothing from the past can really be taken into account.

Having said that, I honestly cant see freo winning. We may not have put 4 qtrs of good solid footy together yet, but freo havent either.

Dockers more than likely will come out breathing fire.

It might help them for a quarter or so, after that form, fitness, class, depth and tactics will see us run over them.
