View Full Version : ICC announces future tournaments and tournament holders
After awarding the 2011 World Cup to the Asian bid, the ICC has awarded Australia and New Zealand the rights to the 2015 World Cup and England will host the 2019 tournament. There are also some other significant events in here as well.

2007 Twenty20 World Championships - South Africa
2008 Champions Trophy - Pakistan
2009 Twenty20 World Championships - England
2009 Women's World Cup - Australia
2010 Champions Trophy - West Indies
2011 World Cup - Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka
2012 Twenty20 World Championships or Champions Trophy - Sri Lanka
2013 Women's World Cup - Australia
2014 Twenty20 World Championships or Chamions Trophy - Bangladesh
2015 World Cup - Australia and New Zealand
2019 World Cup - England

Seems to be pretty fair except for the 2011 World Cup decision. There's an even spread of tournaments around the World.

It isn't about Australia, it's making sure the other countries get their fair share of tournaments. There's not a lot we can do about the Asian countries considering 40% of the test-status countries are on that continent. That's just out of our control.
Personally, I think Australia is getting screwed over. We have been the premier team in the world for a long time now and our history in hosting world events is pretty impressive. Yet the Asian bid wins out. There isn't much we can do about as the ICC is f*cked, we all know this.
The real loser in this is South Africa, I would've expected them host a Champions trophy in the next decade (2010's), I'd rather them host a tournament than the joke of a team, Bangladesh who shouldn't even be a member anyway, but that's another story.

jeez i could be playing the world cup in 11 years time
that is bs that we have to wait to then for a tournament
we should have got the 20/20 for next year
as we have the worlds number 1 domestic 20/20 team

Saffers have atleast had the World Cup recently, you do realise it will be 23 years without any major tournament in the country of the worlds most dominant team
In that time every region will have had the world cup, champions trophies, 20/20 championships, whatever and atleast 2 in each country, its hardly fair now is it?

Yes, I know this. Do I think it is fair in terms of Australia hosting major tournaments? Of course I don't. But there isn't anything we can do about it. Australia should have had the 2011 World Cup, it was our turn. But Ed, there isn't anything we can do about it. The ICC is a whole lot of crap.
