I know that everyone (including myself) was feeling about down after last weeks reality check...it is now Tuesday (over it) and I'm looking forward to the Saints this weekend.

I have watched a bit of the Saints this year and I honesty believe that we will have too much pace for them (particularly on the dome). I don't want to jinx the boys, but I am extremely confident we will bounce back like the good side we are

Possibly - but Adelaide have shown that if you are hard around the ball much of that pace is negated.
I'm more worried about stopping their forward line - Shwarze looks like the forth tall we may not be able to stop.

They can fill their forward line with dud talls like Schwarz all they like.
If we have to worry about Schwarz then we have problems.

other teams are going to be more pro-active in trying to shut us down across the middle now. If we play like we did against adelaide then it will be deamed a success. I think there were 2 reasons why it worked, 1 because we were flat after several big games, and 2 because the tactic never let us get our confidence up.
So far this year we have started slowly, almost conceeding the first 4-5 goals every game. By the third quarter we are usually in our peak. Adelaide's tactic never let us get out of first gear, so our confidence was shot and we failed to back ourselves, so we started chipping it sideways and putting ourselves under pressure.

If we come out to play this week and stkilda want to employ the same tactics, then we'll see for sure if we can overcome it. Mind you adelaide are a very different team to the saints. I think our pace will bother them as well, as long as we can kick goals early and get into the game we will do alright.

I'm not too concerned about last week.

Remember that the Crows did exactly the same thing to us last year, before we finished winning 5 of the last 6 games.

St. Kilda definately have a lack of pace in the middle, but even more-so is that their backline is terrible!! We really should be able to kick a big enough score to win the game.
If you look at their form, they have 2 wins for the year, against (possibly) 2 of the worst teams in the AFL, and a couple of losses (non-wins anyway for the moment! :D ) against 2 othjer pretty ordinary teams.

I think it's a game we should be able to win comfortably enough.

I am very concerned about this week. Their frontline midfielders are excellent (Hayes, Ball, Dal Santo, Harvey) and their forwards (Gehrig, Hamill, Riewoldt, Milne) have the potential to thrash us.
Our forward line is still too small and if our midfield doesn't thrash theirs we are no chance.
Take a risk and play Grant, Hargrave or even Wight or Baird on the forward line. Murphy will be battered out of the game if we keep playing him at CHF.

I think St.Kilda are being underrated by some. They started slowly last year too, but they came home with a wet sail. They still have a very dangerous forward line and their defence is pretty solid. Luckily they have a few injuries and some of their older players are taking time to work themselves into form.

Our midfield is certainly quicker, but they have more bulk. Luckily they aren't as well coached as Adelaide and Geelong and they will be more willing to go into a shootout because of their forward line. I wouldn't expect the sort of hard one-on-one play that we have come up against the last few weeks.

Hopefully Robbo and Johnson can play a bit better this week and we'll need everything going right, but we can win.

Pace versus Height and Strength. I am not as confident as others but more hopeful a huge lesson was learnt last week and we can bounce back.
Whether we are good enough is another matter.
I think we are one running player/midfielder top heavy at the moment and someone needs to make way for a taller player.

i can't see grant taking too many more hits this year,
he can't play that role much longer. Will wight be brought in?
i dunno....

I'd be interested to see Wight have a game...

I would also like to see a young forward thrown right in the deep end, maybe Wells who is a BIG lad already, 95kgs.

Someone has to sit Grant down and tell him to shirk some contests ;) He is just to courageous for his own good.

He is like a kamikaze pilot at the moment.

He may be big but he has no fottball nous whatsover.

No chance of him getting a game this year IMO unless he improves drastically.

I think the Doggies are far quicker, but remember you have to cover Gehrig, Riewoldt, Hamill, Milne etc and very thankfully for you Kosi isn't playing.

After our last meeting believe me we are very thankful.

I am not as confident as some are on BF. Should be a corker of a match.

why did we draft him then? how come none of these big lads seem to have any quality?

Super athlete. Has all the attributes that recruiters like to see in kids @ 17, 18 years old.

He can run fast - both off the mark and top end, jump high and is agile but can't get the ball.

Don't get me wrong, he might make it. From what I have seen and all the reports he appears lost on the footy field and doesn't look like doing much in the near future. Whenever I have seen him he hasn't exactly filled my heart with hope I must say.

Same way we 'covered' Nietz, Robbo, Bruce, Davey.

Same way we covered Lloyd (half a game I know), Lucas, Hird and Lovett.

This 'amazing' St. Kilda forward line has had 123 scoring shots so far this year...only 1 more than an injury riddled Geelong, 2 more than Essendon and 2 more than Sydney.

If determination and a sheer bloody minded will to succeed are anything to go by then Wells will be quite a player. I was wavering until I spoke to him last week and now I'm on the Jesse Wells bandwagon. He reallywants it.

What'd Jesse say to you?

Only seen him a few times at training. I can't really comment on him. Would like to get down to Werribee some time this year and have a close look at him though. Tiller too for that matter.

Eeeeerrrr, I just realised it was Michael West and not Jesse Wells I was speaking to.:o

West impressed me because he knows where he wants to be and what he has to do to get there. Some recruits are just big kids who thought they had a chance to get in on the biggest show in town, not Lamby, he's a kid who genuinly loves footy and wants to do well at it.

So Jesse still has no bandwagon. come fourth bandwagon, and give us some talls to cheer for.

Positive news on M.West though. We'll need another West, the dogs will not be the same w/o a West running around.

Now I'm worried. Ernie's agreeing with me.
