Watson, because he's gone from being the worst performed to being the best performed of the 3 this season. Very happy with the other two though.

i think so far Watson is most improved. Not really given a lot of game time yet still racks up the disposals. Becoming a quality player.:D
Lovett-Murray has provided lots of run off half-back and is creating lots of opportunities. Racking up the disposals and marks also :thumbsu:
Monfries has been solid and is turning out to be an excellent midfielder/forward for us. Just needs to learn from his mistakes and he'll be a future star thats for sure...

Watson.
I don't think Monfries has actually improved in a sense. He's just getting more game time and more confidence. It's a natural progression, rather than an out and out improvement from what he showed last year.
I also don't think NLM has improved his weaknesses to the level Watson has. He's still fumbling below his knees, although not as much. And he still needs to improve his disposal. But I have been pleased he is taking the game on more and more.
Watson for me but i must admit over the last few weeks NLM has grown some balls and has stopped hearing footsteps which is a great sign for his development.

Yep, that's been the most impressive aspect of his game. Backing back into traffic more and more.

And importantly taking the mark more often than not.

Watson
He has gone from 'will he or won't he make it as a player and even if he would remain on the list question marks' to one of the best players in the team atm.

Yep. He's always had good hands.
He just lacked the ability to put himself in front of on-coming traffic. He's now doing that time and time again.

He's also the only bloke(Lovett does occasionally) willing to tuck the footy under his arm and run. Too many guys on our team who have pace seem content to dispose of the ball as soon as they get it.
Teams zone back on essendon because they know we will kick to a contest. Running the lines can break a game up.

If we get some game time into Winderlich, he'll do it as well.
At the moment he's playing like a man that is too scared to make a mistake.

It's a shame as he usually gets dropped at the first opportunity. He's impressed me quite a bit lately and I'm praying he gets more ground time.
Watson edges NLM for most improved. NLM has really played his guts out lately and both are stating cases for B&F at the moment. But Watson has gone from last chance season to definate pick every week with 25+ possessions.

To be perfectly honest I think Watson is the most improved in the league. NLM has improved the last couple of weeks, but Watson has improved each game since round 1 and just keeps getting better. When he learns to kick properly he'll be a destroyer.
Can anyone think of a player in the league who has improved more than Watson? (Excluding first year players because you have nothing to base it on.)

I'd lean towards Jobe only because NLM started showing glimpses last year. We all new he'd be a look for Half Back this year.
To that, Jobe has been the most surprising improvement of the year. Who would have picked his game time or numbers?

Watson for me. I thought he was in real danger of being de-listed if he had another year like last. Is really amazing what he has done.

It's just a shame some senior players have gone backwards which has somewhat cancelled out these marvellous improvements

watson for me is the most improved player in the essendon side, him and hille.
I actually think his kicking is ok but for some reason he seems to be lacking confidence, i mean last year he played half forwrad for bendigo in a semi and took something like 15 marks and kicked 4 goals. And that was when he was unfit. Ive had the utmost in confidence job can imrove further, we will see the best of him once he plays 100 and gets endurance built into him. This is why i have had him in my supercoach side since day 1.
Its the year of the Jobe. Had been saying that since preseason.
Boy was I excited last quarter, dieing minutes, scores level, Jobe's got the ball, streaming towards goal, I even had my tiger's friend in a head lock while chanting "year of the jobe". So what does he do...? ARGH!!!

Just on running the lines , it was very obvious that Dyson was told to grab the footy and just run last week for Bendigo after half time . It didnt always come off that well but it looked like something he was working on.

i think watson and gus have improved more than NLM in terms of impact on a game's outcome. we have seen gus dominate a forward line and inspire an entire stadium with his courage, watson we saw what he is capale of in the last 15 mins last week, although on both occasions a loss was the result, but i havent really seen NLM's efforts stand out, and dont get me wrong i do think he has had great determination this year and has racked up the possies, but just not sure he has the polish of the other two.
His judgement with marking and his rebounding has been important, has taken quite a bit of pressure off our defense at times.

watson definitely. he's gone from not getting a game, to starting in the centre every match, and the best clearance player in the team at the moment.
NLM is much improved as well. i saw him right up close last week, and he went back with the flight 3-4 times to either take the mark, or create a contest.
and monfries, as someone else said, isn't necessarily improved, just getting more game time.

Watson , the difference in one season is just awesome. His work ethic this year has been terrific and he has really put his hand up as our premier midfielder.

Watson is most improved
NLM needs to improve his disposal (even more than watson) but reads the play best of three, Gus is toughest of them.

How could you possibly suggest NLM reads the play better than Watson?
He's doing a good job NLM, but at the moment he's got the easiest job out of the three, playing most of his footy without an opponent. Full credit to the kid, he's taken his game to another level but it's not hard (apart from the obvious courage required) to stand in the space between where the ball is and where the opposition's key forward is.
Jobe has nearly the best footy brain at the club. Angus certainly has a very good one as well.

Agree definitely. How many times has Jobe sharked an opposition ruckmen's tap. He is a brilliant footy brain and it showed even when he was out of form.

I think we are all in agreeance (is that a word ? ) All hail the father/son rule.

Watson by a street!!
Outside of our team, Im going with Cameron Bruce from Melbourne.
Aside from Hird, we dont have a midfielder in his category!
