Looks like hes out the door. May not be the worst thing if you can manage to get high picks for him especially as you are rebuilding. What do you think would be an acceptable trade for the great man? As a melbourne supporter i would be willing to give up Ben Holland, Simon Godfrey and a 2nd round pick for him. Would this cut it?

He is not for trade, or sale, or anything.he is our Aka.

Can't assume he is "out the door".
I think you'll find any decision to trade Aker won't be entered into lightly. For reasons I've said on other threads, he has enormous off-field value to the Lions which would need to be considered in any decision to trade.
Way too early to be talking possible compensation for losing the guy but I can't see your proposed trade being acceptable. Godfrey is solid but Holland really doesn't appeal. If you finish top 8, then your second round pick will be closer to 30 than 20 which might be a problem.

I want for him to get his confidence back...
Nowhere near to being out the door.

are you joking, i wouldnt give u his left leg for that!
i think every1 is being too harsh, and REAL decisions can be made at the end of the season once he's had a chance to bounce back.
the off-field value mentioned is very valued as well.

give him some time to get some form back, and reserve judgement for the end of the season. the guy has provided such great service to a history-making team, cut him some slack.

I am not arguing he is a great player. Rate him as the top player of the last 5 years. I just feel Leigh has run out of patience with him and can no longer play at the Lions.

You are kidding right, 6 weeks into the season.Especially when Zeke has said his figurs are nearly as good as Didak, who they are totuing as being terrific this season.
Give the guy a break.

He still earns good points in the fantasy footy comps. Happy to have him in my side - his average points per game is more than some other well known names as: Mat Lappin, Nathan Thompson, Scott Burns, Nick Davis, Montagna, Ant Rocca, Chad Fletcher, (Melb) Nathan Brown, Wirrpunda, SIMON BLACK!!!, Rohan Smith, Ottens, Steinglein, Medhurst and of course.....Jared Crouch! :thumbsu:

I would trade him for two good draft picks in the top 20

Trading Aker is not the forgone conclusion that you are making out.
But if circumstances presented that meant this was the best option, I would be looking at a top 5 draft pick (which is not likely), or a couple of draft picks between 6 and 25, or a first round draft pick and a young player (eg. a crumbing forward).
A bit of support would be nice, and for supporters to stick by him.
He is the same Acker he has always been, up front and honest ,I feel very sorry for him, he must feel terrible.

If aker is traded, it will be in a 3 way involving hawks and stkilda
saints will trade thier first and 3rd round picks to hawthorn in an attempt to get spida and win a quick flag, hawks will on-trade them to brisbane for aker so they have a decent utility up forward, as apart from croad, our forwards can only play in the one position, unlike at other clubs where u will find most forwards have the ability to push into the midfield/ruck, or into defence.

I agree, some of our supporters are truly pathetic.
Imagine if this happened, makes winning the clubs best and fairest meaningless.makes a mockery of our whole club.

Look he is a great football player but as a person I don't like him He is a big mouth and a know it all and has always being this way I have personally known this bloke since primary school and he has always been like this All he need to do is let the coach do his job and focus on his job and things will be fine plain and simple.

Stick him in the midfield where he can get 25-30 possessions, and all is good again. Not in the forward line, not in defence, right in the middle. He's an unbelievable player who is going through an unnecessary poor stretch.

Acutally it doesn't mean a thing on who has had a longer membership than someone else.If you are being a realist, hows Simon going?
For your informaton, I have a foundation BL membership, and was a Bear member from the 1st day you could be a member.
Do you go to the matches and see Aka play? or is this all based on you not really liking him at Primary School, whgerever that may have been.

What loyallion has said on Akermanis is fair less insulting than what you have said towards Leigh Matthews.
Does that mean you aren't a supporter either?

But, Leigh Matthews has been acting irrationally this season IMO.
The 10 news interview wa sinteresting.
I can not imagine any other club in the AFL allowing or having thei coach not talking to their current club champion.Let alone have him not talk to him for ovr 2 years.
Leppa by the way, was supportive of Aka.
Why is the coach above any questioing or critique. We are now doing so much better now we have 2 rucks in the team.I questioned that and was told off on here.I questioned mal at Ff, and why we can't put Voss in a pocket.

I have both watched him playing his game on more than 100 occasions and I also went to school with him also Look Campbell I love the lions But to see him on T.V acting like the poor victim who nobody likes anymore is just stupid. The Coach is there for a reason and that is to coach the team. He isnt there to listen to someone who thinks they know everything there is to know. Leigh is a great coach and knows what he is doing. Jason just needs to play football and not worry about what Leigh is doing.

I think you may feel a bit isolated within a team, and others may feel tha as well, if you being the current best abd fairest champion, and the coach hasn't spoken to you for over 2 years.I personally am appalled at that scenario, for not only the club, but all the players and coaching staff.
I sure as heck would not like to get on the wrong side of someone who acts like that.

The problem is, this is a team sport. The other players get along with Aka, as seen on the field in support, as in Leppa tonight in support on Tv.The coach is the eha dof the team, he should be communicating with all players as equal. Not holding a grudge or whatever the heck is going on here.

Most coaches have complete control, not just Leigh. It's funny that Grant Thomas gives a lot of responsibility to the players and he is bagged mercilessly, so you can't win.
Coaching is an art not a science. There is no right or wrong way to go about things, so who knows whether he is doing the right thing or not. Not you, not me, not even Leigh Matthews. But the fact that he has had so much success would be a good reason to trust him.
This thread is about Aka, so don't respond to this. I'll start a new thread.

You know, I reckon Acker should be bloody proud of the type of discussion that goes on about him.
He's been so brilliant for so long that his form being reduced temporarily to being 'only good' is regarded as absolute :D:D:D:De compared to what we know he can do.
It's a backhanded compliment I grant you, but it's still true.

This may or may not be 100% correct, but I will post anyway as it is bound to cause a stir, but I have some information that says that the Lions are talking to Ben Cousins.
I know it will probably need a multi trade to get him here, but I would assume that the Lions would be thinking that Aka could be part of it.
I am almost sure that this will come out more as the season progresses.

Can't see this happening. As good a player as Cousins is, I don't think we'd be efter a 28yo, not to mention the... um... baggage that comes with him.
Sounds like pub talk to me. Or Crackers Keenan talk. Take your pick. Actually that's probably where he gets most of his 'scoops'.

I want aker to be given until the end of the season to show the coaching staff that he still has it and is of priceless value to our footy team.
i think it's dispresectful to be discussing trading him after rd 6, when he's been so consistent for such a long time.
granted i entertained the idea of getting 2 quality picks for him in the 'golden draft', but surely if Aker can deliver at least another 3 years of his influence on games that is worth so much more than a pick: it is worth his personality in QLD footy, and all the kids that wanna be like Aker.
Give Aker time to get back into some form, so he doesnt have to 'goto the doctor each morning to get all the knives removed from his back' (as he said on the news :p)
