View Full Version : So how's this for a STUPID statement?

This is what Brad Scott said on Foxtel's White Line Fever last night in response to a question about the now infamous "leak":

"I'd like to get hold of the person who's doing it and unleash the fury"

Ok Brad, so if you get hold of this person, what exactly is going to happen to him?

If it's a member of the playing group, are the rest of the players going to take him around behind the dressing sheds for a good solid beating?

Or maybe tie his shoelaces together during a game and derive great pleasure from seeing him trip over flat on his face?

Perhaps the other players will pull faces and yell out "boo" when the dirty dog is lining up a shot for goal?

And if not a member of the playing group, then what?

Take him down to the Gabba at midnight, tie him to the goalpost and turn on the sprinklers?

Other and broader questions I have are:

Were Brad Scott's comments sanctioned by the club, the Coach, the other players or some or all of the foregoing?

If so, is Brad now the official spokesman for internal matters of discipline?

If not, can we now expect the Coach to tell Brad publicly, to shut the hell up and "concentrate on getting a kick"

To me , Brad's comments were outrageous, childish and stupid in that they have done nothing other than to pour more fuel on an already very contentious issue.

If we are going to tolerate a senior player publicly talking "retribution" against another player (or club official) then we really are in trouble.

I can't believe that his comments have slipped so easily under the radar.

6 weeks ago, Aker was hauled over the coals for comments about the frequency of interchange rotations....fair enough.

But now we have another player talking up divisions within the club and we hear no response from the coach or the club and nil, zilch, none, criticism from the media.

Amazing.

Brad is obviously very passionate about the Lions and I can understand where he is coming from. Depends how you interpret 'unleash the fury'. If that means belting someone, silly, but if it means saying 'YOU IDIOT', then fair enough.

But I am inclined to agree with Danni. It is most probably not a deliberate act by anyone, rather it is most likely to have been overheard, and the culprit(s) may not even know it was them.

These blokes are footballers first and foremost, especially Brad Scott, It seems a statement right in character if you asked me. It's just how he expressed what he thought and personally I dont see anything wrong with it.

Feeling like it and doing it are two different things.

I can't believe that his comments have slipped so easily under the radar.

maybe...but what else would he say? "I want to shake his hand?"

he was asked a direct question by the sound of it rather than using a column to just sprout opinions

he answered honestly...i think he did well to make a very vague and ambiguous threat...much better than threatening violence

I am not sying that Aker was good/bad but I don't think the two are as similar as you implied

i'm with rawhead and reepah on this Luthor

It's really interesting watching the conferences after reading the quotes in the papers. They usually present on TV much more jovial than the papers make them out to be.
