Something i've noticed this season is our tackling or lack there of!
Our team plays some fast flowing football, i know but it just seems that we dont lay enough tackles or apply pressure when the opposition have the ball! And when we do make tackles, half the time they dont stick!
We are currently 15th for tackles, just the hawks below!
And are 16th for the diff between tackles for and against!
I'm not sure its such a great sign. Tackling is such an important part of the game especially pressure games and i wonder if they are doing enough work on tackle technique at training.
Thoughts???

I think its more our style of play that causes the lack of tackling. However, ive noticed that when we have had a chance to tackle this year, that we've been pretty damn soft in our attempts. Need to tackle more fiercly to put maximum pressure on the opposition.

it has been like that for years, soft half tackles, or an inability to catch the opposition.

Yep, we really need to toughen up...and hopefully we are with the likes of Foley/Tuck/Cogs/Raines

The reality is we haven't beaten much! while its been exciting they are 16th, 15th and 14th on the ladder and don't look like getting much higher!
Its more a point of something we need to improve rather then it being a negative! Because if we do improve our tackling the team will be much better for it!

pettifer needs to start tackling...hes tackling is pitiful.
Lucky we've had tiv, raines and krak bringing up the average. Way too many players on the list that just dont know how.

give you the mail, if ever there was something that needed to be improved in our side, that isnt talked about much, but constantly see it not happening when it should, is shepherding. To many times the player that has to lay the shpeherd is caught 2 meters away, staring at his teammate, endeavouring to steal a meter or 2 of space from an opponent, when a simple shepherd would had made life immeasurably easier. ;)

our middle players arent the problem. tiv, cogs, tucky ect are all averaging respectable amounts of tackles, our tackling around the ground is where we struggle. small blokes like pettifer should be laying twice the tackles he is. That is why we should give krak more credit then we do...has an average of over 4 tackles a game as a crumbing forward....good figures.
Polo is a tough custmer i.e hitting packs, backing back and filling holes but tackling is something he also has to work on, doesnt lay that many but great spoiler of the ball

When we played each of these they were above us on the ladder. FRom where we are there is only one way to look UP

Better to have the ball than needing to lay tackles.

Unfortunately we dont have the ball on a string.

PS. even if we did, Gaspar or Hall would probably trip over the string and break it.
