yeah looks good but you could probably add power and black to that list and maybe even daniel bradshaw - they're only 26-27 right?

Why is Brown unlikely? I'm hoping he plays for another 10 years.
Agree with Beatnik. Also, McDonald and Copeland may still be around.
Even Akermanis is a chance. He will be 34, but he is supremely fit, and is the consumate professional in terms of looking after his body.
But we will obviously pick up a lot of new players as well, including this year's 'super' draft.

Looks OK, but not brilliant. If all those players are still with us in 5 yeasr time, I'll not only eat my hat, but all my hats (and I think I may have a fez stuck away somewhere). In fact, I'd be surprised if all those players will be with us next year.
There's a propensity to think our young kids are as good as anyone else's, but that's not necessarily the case.
Sorry to be a party pooper and I know it was just a fun exercise, so hee's what I think...
There's still a dearth of hard-ball winning talent in that side, little genuine pace or "stars" and others still have yet to prove themselves. If that's the side in 5 years I'd doubt we'd make the finals.
Sorry again. I realise this was a "we've got some promising kids" thread, but in reality most teams can look at their list and say similar things.
Out of that list these player based on what they have shown thus far would be very good chances to be around then (providing they were happy at the club).
Adcock
Hadley
Brown
Charman
Sherman
Others have shown a lot e.g. Drummond, Rischi, Selwood, but are by no means safe in the side.
Don't even want to think five years ahead, too depressing mate.

i dont agree with you but I see the point you are making...
I would have thought Drummond has shown a lLOT of potential - at least as much as Hadley...different roles but definitely similar potential
clark, mills, and hooper are also doing as well as first-year players could be asked
mills might be a bit more of a workmanlike key defender (they're still useful) but hooper has that raw pace we are lacking (and tackles like a demon...something Corrie doesn't do all the time)
as for clark? he is without a doubt the best 1st year big I have seen this side of riewoldt and a certain mr j.brown - he is the real deal in my most humble opinion
brennan? i agree he is frustrating but many players are until they hit the magic 50-game mark (compare the Doggies young guns from the end of 2004 to the end of 2005) - to say he has not shown potential enough to make it at this level is a bit harsh, i believe it is more about confidence...if he finds it, he will explode
I agree merret, wood, corrie and riska are no certainties to be there in 5 but they are certainly a chance
i know it is easy to get carried away with the "future looks bright" routine but come on...we need something to get us through the next two seasons ;)

Why would Brown be unlikely?? He would be 29 or so. Also, one point that hasn't be raised (or i don't think it has) is I reckon we would have up to 10 different players in that team who are yet to be drafted. For example, from our first premiership team of 01, we had at least 5 players who had made their debut after 1996. I would be very worried that in 5 years time we wouldn't have at least 5 new draftees in our team.

Just don't think browny's body will hold up in 5 years...He bearly can run at the moment.
Didnt include players like power, black, copeland and bradshaw because I was just trying to use the current youngsters at the club.
You are completely right when you say a lot of these players might not be at the club in 5 years time...I didnt predict this in my squad.
I believe Drummond's position is well and truly safe

Potential yes and I almost had him in that group, but his form before he was injured in round 1 was average. One swallow does not a summer make! I suppose Sherman could almost come under that category, but he appears to be continuing decent form this year.

They sure are, but I could name a dozen players who've looked alright in their early days but been delisted later on. Nick Trask anyone?
as for clark? he is without a doubt the best 1st year big I have seen this side of riewoldt and a certain mr j.brown - he is the real deal in my most humble opinion
I almost put Clark down as well, but it's still early and the question mark remains about him styaing here after his two years is up.

Mr Potential, unfortunately not Mr. Consistency (atm). Another who's almost there. Whilst a harsh comparison, Cupido showed everything to suggest he'd be a player, but where is he now?
I agree merret, wood, corrie and riska are no certainties to be there in 5 but they are certainly a chance
Rischi's showing quite a bit IMO as is Moody.

cant see why he wouldn't there will be plenty of opportunity to play and plenty of room freed up under the salary cap in coming few years
anyone know why selwood not playing? or is that an old topic?

anyone know why selwood not playing?
What are you referring to?
He is playing this week, and (apparently) in 5 years as well.
Or maybe I should ask "Who are you referring to?".

Whoever is doing your recruiting sack him as not one recruit out of the 2006\7\8\9 drafts makes your side .
How many games has Roe played ? , and if Daniel Merrett is around in 5 year years time he would be coming up to some serious milestones - 100th career goal, 100th career mark, 500th career clanger.
