View Full Version : Leigh Fisher
can someone give me an update on how he is travelling?
is he playing down at VFL level after his hamstring troubles or is he still sidelined. enjoy watching the kid play and think he would add a fair bit to the saints.

He is playing for Casey Scorpians and going quite well from all reports. He has averaged about 26 possies for the last couple of games.
His skills have looked good but obviously still lacking match practise. I wouldn't be surprised if he was back in the ones mid year.

26 disposals... ? Where did ya hear that? He wasn't even in the "best" for the game against Port Melbourne?

I can't see him getting a game unless both Voss and Baker are injured...he's a solid player, but he's far from our best 22. Probably about 26-28 when he's fit and in-form. (And that's being generous)
ATM all of Ferguson, Peckett, McGough, and even Gilbert would get a game ahead of him.

Grant Thomas has him in his best starting 18;)

GT probably said that to lift the kid's spirits after he learnt that he'd be out for a year.

Saints Biography (http://saints.com.au/default.asp?pg=players&spg=playerprofile&personid=125237)
Shoulder, back and hamstring injuries meant the luckless backman spent the entire 2005 season on the sidelines. Ten games in three years is a poor return for the highly rated defender. And he will need to get his body right in 2006 if he is to retain his place on the list.
Draft history: 2002 National AFL Draft 4th round selection (St Kilda) No. 46 overall.

Was rapt with Leigh yesterday, thought his first game back from serious injury was as good as anyone could have hoped.
He gives us another dimension and can allow Bakes to play more midfield. Very useful player. The boy has put on a fair bit of muscle too, won't see him getting bumped off the ball to often.

Yep, seems a much bigger unit than I remember. Of course, it's been a while since I've seen him, but he looks a tank now. Had a pretty good comeback game yesterday.
So whats the general consensus on this bloke?.
Im considering getting him in for my dt as I want to make money of Fixter.
So will he hold his place in your side?, dont really mind if he averages 50-60 just as long as he's playing.
Any help appreciated

Ditto, ditto and ditto!! :D
(I just figured he was back in the team because Hudgeton was out, but you guys would obviously know a lot more than me)

Leigh is held in high regard down at Moorabbin.
I believe that he will become a regular first 22 player permanently now that he is back, but common sense tells you he still must be counted as a fringe player until his consistent performance make him an automatic inclusion.
Trade Fixter for him and use that cash to upgrade someone else

He'll average around the 60 mark and play most of the games till the end of the season, easily in our best 22 from his form over his last 11 games. ;)
Love the guy.

Yep. Thanks alot people. :thumbsu:
...just for the record...I reckon I'll ditch Fixter and Mills for Fisher and Hudgeton (who look like he'll be a consistant 60-70 player)
Good luck this weekend.

ok, now that lenny appears to be out for the season, can he move to the midfield?
perhaps he and gram can rotate through there.

I've always thought Goddard would develop into the dominant midfielder that he was as a junior but hopefully we'll leave him where he is at the moment. He is finally getting the opportunity to play in the one position so I'd leave him there while he is playing so well.
Great to see Leigh Fisher back too.
