View Full Version : The Victorian Alliance

I am interested in hearing peoples idea on a combined membership lobby that exists solely to protect the existing Victorian Football culture.

I strongly believe that if we, the fans, simply stand back and do nothing, then within a few decades, only 3 or 4 of the existing Victorian clubs will be still be alive.

The current divide and conquer mentality will be our downfall.

We must take back the game now before we have been weakened to the point of no return.

Our code is much more than a game and it is as culturally intrinsic as Uluru or the slouch hat.

Our culture is at stake, will you join the fight?

To be honest, and good for you for trying, but why should we? It is most likely that we will be one of those 3 or 4.

You are a Victorian football club and therefore entitled to a view on a Victorian Alliance.

Would you see your ancient combatants dissappear?

It might seem like a novel idea now, but all those premierships will lose a little gloss if your adversaries no longer exist.

I think there'd be a little more than 3 or 4 teams left

We could go all out like the NFL do and start collecting all teams revenues and dividing them evenly amongst all the clubs.

I'd rather see the sink or swim approach though. Give the clubs a certain amount of time to get their :D:D:D:D together and if by the end of that time they still cant stand on their own two feet then merge or relocate their ass!

I've bought heaps of norf raffle tickets before. That's about as far as I go.

I hate every victorian team more than interstate teams. Victorian parochialism irrates me.

some of the comments are a bit harsh, some people should think what there position would be if there club was too fold. stuck up essendon and collingwood supporters make me feel ashamed.

but im a big supporter in relocation and keeping ties to the club alive, as long as the relocated team playes 7-8 games in victoria each year.

I hate the vic teams too, but i respect the vic teams more than any other bar Port who have a strong history.

Thanks to those that have taken the time to reply.:thumbsu:

My love for the bombers is well known:p, however my life would not be complete if my club didn't do battle with there ancient foe at least once a year.

All of our clubs histories are intimately interwoven.

IMO, North would be lessened as a club, if essendon ceased to exist tomorrow.

Pretty good idea, I'd definetly join the fight. Footy wouldn't be the same if some Victorian clubs disappeared.
