I am interested in hearing peoples idea on a combined membership lobby that exists solely to protect the existing Victorian Football culture.
I strongly believe that if we, the fans, simply stand back and do nothing, then within a few decades, only 3 or 4 of the existing Victorian clubs will be still be alive.
The current divide and conquer mentality will be our downfall.
We must take back the game now before we have been weakened to the point of no return.
Our code is much more than a game and it is as culturally intrinsic as Uluru or the slouch hat.
Our culture is at stake, will you join the fight?

Good post FM, I'm keen to keep all Victorian sides alive and kicking.
"Throws hat in the ring" :thumbsu:
Initially, I was keen but you just kept going and going with that whole "Nathan Thompson" thing, so now I'll just watch you merge with Carlton.

No, just kidding - I wouldn't really make up my mind on such an issue because of some sledging on a footy forum.
I remember all too well the pain of '96 - it's a truly horrible feeling. Our members got behind us then and have stuck with us and I believe yours need to do the same. You get the feeling that something is brewing though....

Exactly.
Clean your glasses.;)
the first step is to help yourself my brother.
we did.
I dont really care about any other club be it interstate or Victorian.
So i dont share your ideal world.
If you want to protect victorian football culture, go watch some VFL, become a member of a club that you choose to follow, take with you half a dozen stubbies ,drive your car right up to the fence and honk after every goal.

If the AFL continues on it's current path, then that is exactly what I and countless thousaands more will be doing.
You should remember that Hawthorn is by no means out of the wilderness.
I don't think we are within the AFL sights directly.
Then again, this is the AFL...so you never know.
