Noticed in the profile piece in the Advertiser yesterday he rated Tony McGuinneth as his favourite player. So you now know who to blame if Kane seems slightly less damaging than usual. My memories of McGuinneth as a player are him running around in circles (to get on to his left boot) then delivering hospital balls. He was the master of the ineffective disposal.

On a side note, wasn't the rumour that McGuinneth was banging Kane's mum back in the old days at Glenelg???

Pretty harsh - although quite the ball hog......Freddy was a fantastic player for Footscray and helped mould the AFC in the early days. He had a very damaging left foot and usually found a target.

On your second point.......not really a rumour....fairly common knowledge

Tony had quite an influence on both Cornes boys as they were growing up...particularly Kane

Perhaps I should have posted this on the Adelaide board ......

Personally, I don't have a lot of fond memories of Freddy during his time at Adelaide. Plenty of long left-foot bombs to no one in particular. Always thought he was highly overrated. Just my opinion, though. I was probably one of few Crows supporters in the early days that didn't think much of McGuinneth and McDermott.

tough to win a Magarey medal at 18......B&F at Footscray....and B&F at Adelaide by being just over-rated

Sorry to disappoint but .... no, actually

Just thought it was quite amusing/bemusing that Kane rated McGuinneth as his favourite - and thought it would be of some interest on this board.

But I guess I should have been prepared for the pro-Freddy comebacks - which is something that's better placed on the Adelaide board.

Simple.
