Joel MacDonald

I am no doctor but it looked like an ACL to me. That would be the season and the third knee reco this year after Hadley and Garner.

Ash McGrath

Thought it might have been a broken forearm but he didn't look like he was in a lot of pain, so I'm inclined to think it is not too serious an injury.

Scott Harding

Courage to come back on after a big hit from Hodge. It seems he wasn't concussed, but definitely would have had one hell of a headache.

Looked like a wrist to me? He went straight down to the rooms, not good.

I wouldn't think McDonald's is a ACL. The lateral force and the way his knee buckled indicates either medial ligament or possibly PCL. The ACL is strongly associated with the medial ligament so it could be both (usually if you injure one, the other is affected).

It looked like Ash definately did his wrist although i was a bit surprised seeing him after the game - obviously supporting the wing but didn't seem to be in a lot of pain. Could be only a few weeks on the sidelines.

How many more injuries can we take?? Colm Begley come on down.

Colm Begley come on down.

Lol.

If we promote another rookie that would have to be a record.

I remember saying we are due to run out of rookies by round 15. I was only joking, but......

I wonder if they would consider me for the rookie list?

I kicked 15 at CHF against Jakovich a few years ago but it was after my 23rd pot.

Beat 59 possessions, 21 marks, 12 goals, and 14 tackles. It was on AFL live 2004 but i think Leigh still has my number.

Ah....big deal

Only modesty prevented me from mentioning that in the same game that I sitched up Jakko, I had 74 possessions, 32 marks and 29 tackles, not to mention 17 clearances and 45 hard ball gets.

Pity I pulled my hammy at the 15 minute mark of the 2nd quarter and had to sit out the rest of the game on the bench.

Soft. Didn't realise you were 2nd to the ball 29 times luthor. We have a few in the team like that already - we don't need another one.

BTW-did i mention after i played my humdinger of a game i went on to score 572 n.o. at Lords less than an hour later.

afl.com.au (http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=matchdetails&spg=display&articleid=265300) list it as a medial ligament.

Well I'll be.....

I always wondered who that other guy was propping up the other end when I made my record 1259 n.o. in Test Cricket.

From memory, that's a 6 week injury. But I think you know not to trust my medical advice by now.

lol :D Game. Set. Match. Luthor.

With regards to your prediction grim it may not be too far off. Perhaps closer to 8-10 though. I've only seen a few MLs in my very limited career. Hopefully it wont be too long out for Joel mac.

On a positive note, I saw Jed in the magoos, and he looked good. Also saw Keating at the ground, although I could tell his situation and Nigel is getting around ok, he did a presentation at half time to the school kids.

Bloody hell. That's not an injury list, that's a telephone directory. Can we have any more bad luck?

They are key injuries as well.

Johnson, Adcock, Hadley, Drummond and Lappin are all very important to our side.

Yeh harding seemed alright,
Macca looked like broken wrist or something around there, disappointing was an unnecessary injury,
Macdonald looked shocking hey, looked like a classic ACL for me, hard to tell though im no doctor myself. O knowledgable Tiff Cherry thought 2 months or so...

Cant judge too much on tonights game, a win is a win but they missed some key players in key positions which really helped our matchups.

Hadley - season
Drummond
Lappin
McGrath
J MacDonald
Leppitsch
Akermanis
Chris Scott
Clark Keating

plus young 'uns...

Garner - season
Lenny Clark (rookie)

wow that means we have 11 of our best 22 unavailable through injury, suspension or disciplinary reasons (plus I counted 20-odd premierships and a Broownlow ;)...kinda puts all the fear-mongering and panicked predictions of doom into perspective doesn't it?

if Adcock, Drummond, Johnson can get back and join Mal Michael and Jason Roe in the back half, we will have a very mobile and rebound-able (is that a word? ;)) back six

the sixth player could be Leppa, Bradshaw or someone smaller if we're up against smaller forward set-ups (e.g. Power, Riska, Possum)

just heard on the radio that jmac is out for a year - knee recon.
not my fave player but devastating all the same. i enjoyed the role he played against the hawks - as a tagger, and he had a pretty good game till the injury.

bad luck joely, get well soon!

The Lions website confirms (http://lions.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=265858) that Joel MacDonald is out for the season

It was the ACL after all.

Bad luck mate.

Joel did his knee right in front of us - we were behind the hawks trainers & i said "oh :D:D:D:D - not another acl - just like hads & patty" & this hawks guy said "yeah i think you might be right there"...the one time i wished i was wrong - joel played best personal game this season on Sat imo...:(

I see Adcock is finally off your injury list. Any chance he'll come in for your next game?

I'd doubt it, I'd say he's lacking some serious match fitness at the moment.

Bad news for Jmac.
I admit he isnt one of my favourite players however he tried hard against the hawks and looked to be on the up.

Is their a chance that he could get cut now at seasons end?Or would that be considered too tough on the clubs part?

Watching on the teev I was positive it was going to be a medial ligament strain just from the way the knee buckled inward. At least that's what I was hoping for Joel's sake.

You're not a jinx on these guys are you L? :D (just kidding)

When do you guys expect Clark Keating back and will he play in the ruck full time?

Cheers

He may have played his last game. A couple more weeks out with injury, but the incumbents are doing too good a job to drop them. He'll have to wait for an injury I suspect.
