I thought you were going to tell us.

Akermanis said he was informed of his axing only five minutes before captain Michael Voss announced it to the media.
"I'm not sure why," he said. "Things happened on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday that they were supposedly upset about but they never spoke to me about that.
"If you go to the judge and through the jury, you get a right of reply, and I think I was sentenced without a right of reply."

Do you want me to get it there a help you dig that hole a little deeper Jason?
Whilst you may not beleive it, going through the media is not the answer to everything. Oh, sorry, I forgot everyone's gotta love you don't they? Not that you'd admit it. How about you think of your teammates for a change and maybe sew those lips togther for a week or so?

I think thats pretty harsh, particularly if it is how it seems and the boundaries are forever changing.
Given Aker's ability to find trouble, it may be best that he didn't have a right of reply!
I am not sure I completely support the actions against Aker but I really wish he would just say "I don't agree but I recognise that my coach and senior teammates want me to shut up and so that's what I will do until this blows over." Not saying that he should just accept it but the media is not the forum for dealing with these things - that is the whole reason he is in strife in the first place!
Or he could just refuse to make any comment at all.

When you are winning, it is good to have publicity. When you are losing the media vultures are looking to tear apart anyone wherever there is an opening. During hard times, it makes sense to close ranks and give the media as little ammunition as possible.
It doesn't take a genius to work out that the best thing for Aka and the club at this stage, is for him to keep a low profile for a while. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be happening:(

I'm not being anti-Aka. I wan't him in the team and playing well. But we keep hearing that he's an intelligent bloke. Surely he should be able to see the difference between when we were winning and losing.
His teammates haven't been keen on it (outlandish statements) from the start, but wore it becasue the team was winning. Maybe they should have told him directly then. Maybe they did and he didn't listen. In any case they've told him now. Let's see if he takes it on board or makes it about himself even more than he is.
The one "boundary" that's constant in footy is that it's a team game and you play for and respect your teammates.
Yes Aker just shut up for a while mate, it is not all about YOU. We love you as a player , but we love our team more. It's time to grow up.!

Why was Michael Bowers there?
i think it's strange that Aker kept it going after the weekend - he has been told by the coach, the captain and the leadership group to step into line
regardless of whether it was right to drop him in the first place, he is now guilty of hurting the team
i love aker and was very angry at all the suggestions we should trade him when they surfaced these past weeks but am beginning to suspect that he has no interest in bridging the divide
he is one very clever and media-savvy fella and it makes no sense at all for him to fight an unwinnable battle against the team, the coach and maybe even the CEO/board
if he carries it on now that even Leigh is saying "no comment" i will be convinced that aker is up to something
aker has always managed his own contract negotiations rather than use a player manager so everything he says or does will be a part of his negotiation stratgey
perhaps he thought that Brisbane were unlikely to offer much when he comes off contract at the end of next year and that he might end up as trade bait at the end of this year
he might have decided to get on the front foot and force the club's hand a little - apply a bit of pressure and see how everyone reacts...classic aker move
he might be :D:D:D:Ded off that the club didn't rush to sign him up to a longer contract or rule out a trade entirely so now he figures his best option is to make the club trade him and see if he can land one last fat contract with a premiership contender...i.e. Sydney
remember, aker invented the whole 'sydney want me' stories when negotiating his contract...this is not at all beyond him
just a thought...
Up till now, I have tried to see it form his(Aker's) point of view
I don't think the isuue was particularly well handled by the club and I have said so in numerous posts on the subject.
I didn't think Vossy having to front the press to announce his axing from the side was a good idea.
Generally,I thought there was an element of "scapegoating" involved.
I empathised with him in that he clearly felt wronged by the public assumption that he was leaking information.
I thought there was way too much made of the "2 frees" incident in the Swans game.
However, he is now in the situation where discretion would be the better part of valour.....for his own sake.
He played a good game in the 2's(from all reports) and for that he is to be commended
However, it's also a fact that the big guys won without him last Saturday night.....and won well.
He's now in the position where the Match Committee can easily justify omitting him again on the grounds of not changing a winniing side.
Aker....it really is time now to put a sock in it.....anything more you say is not going to damage anyone other than yourself.
