Fantastic idea we could trade a first round selection & Pav for him.

Not worth it, especially with the quality of next years draft.

I don't think Aker would be a good mentor, he is too cocky and outspoken. I also think he is a bit like Headland, a good finisher with the likes of Voss, Black and Lappin feeding the ball to him but now that he isn't receiving that supply he is struggling.

Would probably require a 1st round pick to satisfy the lions, and would take up about $400,000 in our T.P.P.

Good mixture of both. Here's a thread with player profiles for potential draftees next year: http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=225797

I like the sound of Selwood

that mojo guy is correct we have enough KP talent we need guys to win the ball. Simple as that

I'd have to agree... even tho Aker as a player and a brownlow medalist he has had his time in the sun and would upset the current dynamics of the players group, if he would come to Freo. Not worth the risk of drafts pick and extra moolla to get him over here.

Perhaps he would go down south to one of the Victorian clubs or even to Adelaide ;)

We will assess every person who is availible to us..

Don"t look too much into this Sabre, it is just a standard pc response from the coach.

I really rate aker. He is the best finisher in the game and is still pretty quick. Love to have him at freo, if the next three years are our window to a premiership he could be handy.....

But I would not want freo to give more than a second round pick for him. Brisbane would obviously want more. I think if he and brisbane (ie.leigh Matthews) actually come to a point where Aker is no longer wanted at the club then maybe he will go or even possibly sit on the sidelines for a year.
All clubs (and supporters) have cottoned on to how valuable draft picks are and I doubt any club would be willing to give up much of anything.

At best if Brisbane are sick of him and can't get any decent bites they might falter at the last minute of trade week and just accept the best offer. 2nd rounder or a younger player.

The comments of both Connolly and Hart today have been disappointing. Why does Connolly need to make comment on everything? It's best to say nothing and fly under the radar.

There's always a team willing to pay over the odds (Jonathon Hay went for 2 1st rounders FFS). Hopefully it's not our turn again.

The only possible way you could entertain the idea of having this bloke in the side is if there was a clause in his contract that he's there to play football with no media commitments.

all i would trade is Aker for a 2nd round pick

most liekly a 3 way swap there shall be

but i would rather do this

Aker and Black for 1st and 3rd round pick

Why don't Freo go after Wendell Sailor? He's out of contract I hear! Since the AFL has a 3 strikes and your out policy, he'd feel right at home!

You must be kidding me. I almost hate this idea as much as I hated the Hay idea late last year, and I really really hated that one.

:D at The Worst throwing their two bob in, could there be any surer sign that we should avoid this trade.

An Aker trade would be > than a Hay trade.

But we'd have to give up very little for me to be happy with it should it eventuate.

I don't think anyone from the club has said or done anything untoward. There's a quality midfield / HFF that may become available - a proven match winner, triple premiership player and Brownlow medallist. Like CC said, they'll sit down and discuss all available players and judge each proposition as it comes up, and that any club that doesn't do so is not completing its due diligence. Worsfold said the same (that they'll discuss any available players that may become available)....

What sucks is that The Worst has run with it as if Freo are actively chasing him. WTF? Some questions were asked, the questions were answered and suddenly there's pic of him in a Freo jumper and the club is actively pursuing a trade. With a Freo travelling next weekend to play Brisbane... why do they feel the need to focus on Aker now???

Why couldn't they just stick with their free Chris Judd poster to sell their rag today???

FWIW: If he's available, I reckon Freo will offer a trade, it will get knocked back, someone will offer something better, and that'll be the end of it - ala Hay last year.

Hope we don't get him, unless we can get him cheap! He's a champ but he's getting on and I'd like to see us draft some young potential midfield guns! I'm hoping we can pick up the next Judd only even better! :) Better meaning that he doesn't play for the Slime! :)

I agree I.P.also no ones going to say yes or no to anything without the backing of everybody involved with the decision.

We would be negligent if we did not force his price up at the very least.

Aker is one player who can change a game in the space of 5 minutes.

When I was in QLD at Christmas before last , Aker hopped on the train we were on and I didn't regognise him for a minute as the Blonde hair and black beard were not there in the off-season.

If we're going to pick up an oldie- Woewodin would be a better prospect. After a year colling his heels with the sharks he'll be pretty hungry to get back in the midst.

Wouldn't go for him early in the draft though- if he's still there in the last round grab him.

Let the Kangas have Aker- they seem to be the specialists in this area.:)

You might be on to something Wizard_9.

Woewodin is another slow midfielder who doesn't win many clearances, we have enough players in this mould already.
