HB: Justin Sherman , 11, Daniel Bradshaw , 36, Michael Rischitelli , 35

C: Tim Notting , 8, Michael Voss , 3, Troy Selwood, 28

HF: Jared Brennan , 17, Jonathan Brown, 16, Matthew Moody , 10

F: Ash McGrath, 9, Mal Michael , 15, Mitchell Clark, 1

R: Jamie Charman, 19, Simon Black, 20, Luke Power, 6

I/C: Scott Harding, 45, Ben Fixter, 4, Joel Macdonald , 26, Beau McDonald , 43,

The injury list is:

Chris Johnson
Jed Adcock
Richard Hadley
Chris Scott
Clark Keating
Pat Garner
Josh Drummond
Nigel Lappin
Lenny Clark (rookie)

J MacDonald
Ashley McGrath

As players like Jason Roe have made an immediate impact, and others like Matthew Moody are showing real promise, I was wondering what a full strength Lions outfit would now look like. Who would be your ins and outs?

PS. Don't know how to classify Aka and Leppitsch. I'll let you choose what to do with them.

Ahh Sherman, knew I forgot someone. :thumbsu:

Pask is in the Lions reserve team at the moment, seems to be doing a good job. He played in one of the NAB games this year, looks like a good player.

Edit - forgot Copeland aswell!

hmm i agreed with rawhead more or less.
Drummond was a bit stiff guess he needs to play another good season or so, just isnt at the front of the memory when he hasnt played much footy.

Leppitsch's ommission is a bit rough, a bit unfit at the moment who knows if he can turn it around.

I think as much as i love crackers and he should nearly have 2 norm smiths, it's time to hang em up mate.

It wasn't so long ago that our ruckmen were falling down like nine pins. Remember when we relied on McLaren:eek:

Having good ruckmen in reserve is a great advantage.

If everyone at the club was at full fitness in round 1, then a heap of guys would not have got a run. Definitely no Harding, Stiller or Roe as promoted rookies. Possibly no Mills, Attard, Rischitelli, Moody, Clark etc either. I think that the rough injury trot we've experienced in 2005-6 will fast track the development of so many of those guys and allows the clubs to test them and make judgements on their future on something more than 2-3 senior games (at best).

FWIW, here's my side, based on current form for those who are playing and the likely impact I thought injured players would have had this year but for their injuries (hence the exclusion of Leppa, Crackers and Chris Scott who are probably declining forces even though at their best 3 years ago, they would slot right into this side). I'd contend that this backline would arguably be the best in the comp, particularly when you could throw Notting, Johnno, Lappin or Sherman back there to give some extra drive. My forward line would rely on 100 goals being kicked between Akermanis, Power and Johnson and Browny being a 3-4 goal a game forward. Midfield probably lacks blinding speed but I think the drive from the backline would make up for that.

I think if everyone was fit, Moody may just retain his spot in the team. He is becoming a very good player, and it was noticable that when he went off the momentum shifted in Adelaide's favour. He was quiet in the 2nd half but he seemed to have some sort of injury with his toe.

I also think Rischitelli is continuing to get better and better. I notice he gets a lot of frees by putting his head over the ball. Has good disposal, is a good tackler, and has good endurance. All he needs is bulk so he doesn't get pushed around. He is a very smart footballer and is able to beat his opponent by body positioning and a superior ability to read the play. If he can outmuscle his opponents as well he will be a gun.
