Grave Danger

Two thousand and two...Twenty oh two...Two double oh two. How ever you say it, this year's going to be a crunch year for us. We have to win some finals this year, or I fear we could peter out into ordinariness ala the Western Bulldogs and Geelong.

I was highlighting our games on the fixture card yesterday and came up with at least 14 'winnables', so top four is a realistic expectation. Hopefully the pain of the straight sets exit last year will be enough to spur them on to the next step...

I did that today too, and found about the same number

Of course, we have a stack of loseables in the first 7 too...which could set us off on a 2000 of a year, if the will is weak.

Tell me the winnables please?

I bet u supporters are lookin forward to rd1 against the roos;)

Heheee- I am:)

Cause I can almost guarantee the roos will win- I could guarantee it if I knew- Stevo was gonna be back- fit and firing, and if Wayne Carey is fit and firing after a full pre-season- there'll be no hope- also to a lesser extent if Mick is fit and firing:)

GO Roos 2002

Will see Port rd1 - 2002 (and the Roos will win- and they will win by alot- and they'll be in hte top 8 and will have momentum and a good year- or they'll lose, start in the bottom 8 and have no momentum- hope they win- hope its a good game to:))

I think this'll be the second time we've played you at footy park in 6 years. I don't think we'll let it go that easily.

You guys better not be relying in 2 showdown wins this year, as if you were betting on a likely outcome it would be 1 win a piece. Even better, the Crows could even up the ledger in 2002!:p :D

Porthos - What I was inferring is that the showdowns will be aprox 50/50 contests (ie. 1-1 split the most likely outcome as in most years). That is opposed to say a Geelong @ FP, which is probably more a 80/20 contest that you would expect a victory. If you use the arguement that both Crows games are "winable" - sure, but isn't every game then winable? Aren't you guys going to rock up for the other 8 games? Hence, I gather you are referring as 14 wins is a likely outcome - but you would only want to be counting on 1 showdown win. ;) :D

Why? We've won the last three. Recent form (last two years) says that we've won 3-1. 75% is enough to write down as a winnable, I reckon.

And the point about winnables is that they are inexact. There might be winnables you lose, but also ones you'd write off as a loss, that you win. Should work out OK counting two showdown wins.

Porthos - As they say, only time will tell. I'm confident the Crows will win at least 1 of the showdown games, particularly after the last 3 lack lustre performances. Can't wait to 2002!

Don't think Port will be RELYING on 2 Showdown wins, but I believe we will win them both!

I think we should get 14-15 wins during the home and away season including both games against the Crows. If we play to our potential and have a little bit of luck injury wise we can win even more - luck always plays a part in the injury stakes.

Anything less than 4th during the home and away as well as more than 1 win during the finals should be considered a failure by our great club.

Can't wait til the real season starts now that we missed our pre season game in Darwin.

I think it's amusing that they shifted the game due to concerns about the surface up here.......I'd say the surface is better than any we have seen at Colonial so far.........:p

The carlton game didn't concern me too much.......it was the pre season comp game with Port playing Freo that annoyed us the most..........we were really looking forward to catching up with the team again after their succesful trip up here in 2001.

It was an AFL official that shifted the match not any of the clubs involved..........I wonder if these same officials approved Colonial's surface for premiership games........
