As much as everyone says its the essendon tradition to hand down the captaincy while hes still playing.. I disagree, if hird is not willing to lead a team that is desperate for leadership and is willing to give it to david Hill ffs.. Whats the point of him continuing to injure himself for a team that is obviously very far from making an impact this year..

If Lloyd didnt learn from Hird by playing alongside him for the last decade then tuff, he doesnt need to be babysat into the role. Sadly the fact that our two ONLY real leaders are out is a huge reality check..

Im really dissapointed that there is such a huge gap in leaders.. I think it may of been through total dependance on the fact they have had the two of the best leaders in my opinion a luxury that could quite possibly never come again.. seeing as there will be a small chance of finals this year and that was the only real chance hird and lloyd could of played together again..

I was really expecting mcphee to stand up for this role and still believe he would be the best future captain.. I think his decision to "focus" more on his own game was a selfish move no matter what people say and is either out of fear or underlying motives to leave a sinking ship..

Does anyone think that there is any spite in the leadership group about sheedys lack of faith in them. In some instances it almost seems that the older guys have very little respect for the younger guys. Almost jealous at them for exceeding them atm.

This of course is all negative speculation based on entirely nothing so any reassurance or criticism is welcome haha :p

I don't agree with anything you've just said.

But each to their own.

I think ourleadership problems stem from the players not believing in themselves anymore, the whole culture of our club has changed. I believe the players lack confidence within themselves to stand up in front of others and say here I am u do this and you do that. I mean any player that starts pointing the finger at others to lift is just going to cop the dont worry about my game concentrate on your own. To be a leader you need talent and respect and not one middle aged players demands that from us. Mcphee is coming back from injury and the others are hopelessly out of form.

I would have thought during his early years soloman would have been a rough and tough captain, but his form doesnt warrant it and he is to undisciplined these days.

maybe they should just bite the bullet and make monfries captain now because his the only one that plays with typical essendon gusto and puts his body on the line for others. He would probably kill himself

if we replecated the spirit of the early 00's i would be a happy man... we dont have the talent of the decipline like we did back then but.... every man playing for each other... looking out for each other and standing up to anyone... i would pay to see that...this week instead of thinking judd is god and how can we stop him... think how can he stop us??? with speed??? he can so ruff him up get slatts the lil angry fella on him.... make him think about the essendon players first then the ball... and mayb we can see if he will get the 30+ possies.........

I think its most fustrating because its hard to tell why there is this attitude.. the way the players were the first quarter last week was almost unbelievable to see in an essendon jumper.. I think it was as rock bottom as essendon is going to get, and even if we lose to west coast this week they will be sore from it..
