As much as everyone says its the essendon tradition to hand down the captaincy while hes still playing.. I disagree, if hird is not willing to lead a team that is desperate for leadership and is willing to give it to david Hill ffs.. Whats the point of him continuing to injure himself for a team that is obviously very far from making an impact this year..
If Lloyd didnt learn from Hird by playing alongside him for the last decade then tuff, he doesnt need to be babysat into the role. Sadly the fact that our two ONLY real leaders are out is a huge reality check..
Im really dissapointed that there is such a huge gap in leaders.. I think it may of been through total dependance on the fact they have had the two of the best leaders in my opinion a luxury that could quite possibly never come again.. seeing as there will be a small chance of finals this year and that was the only real chance hird and lloyd could of played together again..
I was really expecting mcphee to stand up for this role and still believe he would be the best future captain.. I think his decision to "focus" more on his own game was a selfish move no matter what people say and is either out of fear or underlying motives to leave a sinking ship..
Does anyone think that there is any spite in the leadership group about sheedys lack of faith in them. In some instances it almost seems that the older guys have very little respect for the younger guys. Almost jealous at them for exceeding them atm.
This of course is all negative speculation based on entirely nothing so any reassurance or criticism is welcome haha :p
