Who do you all think will win the big fight tomo night - Danny "the machine" Green or Anthony "the man" Mundine???

Hopefully Green can have poise and control
As he hammers Mundine - and shuts his pie-hole.

yeh i agree but i think the man is just too sharp and packs a powerful punch.. should be a cracking fight tho

I think if Green can land a good punch early, Mundine won't recover. I still don't reckon he can take a good hit.
Ford Fairlane
16 May 2006, 12:14
Danny's not the fighter he was and he's not too hard to hit. I reckon The Man will stop him with sheer number of punches.
Mad Dog

The only question over Green is his class....
it should be enough to sit Mundine on his ass.....

I certainly hope Green wins. Cant stand 'the mouse' Mundine.

16 May 2006, 15:24
Green by KO. I reckon Mundine has a glass jaw & all the speed in the world wont help him when Green lands the big punch/es that he has plenty of.
Mundine will win due to his sheer speed and number of punches he will land. He is also hard to hit, so Green will struggle to land a big one.
However if he does land a big one, it will be very close.

If you go on form it has to be Green, though probably by points. KO or points I just hope it is Green. However I must say I'm not getting the sporting results I'd like lately. :(

I hope Green gets up, cant see him knocking Mundine out though. Mundine is pretty quick so Green will have to have a good defence.. but i :D:D:D:Den hate "The Man"
I dont like boxing and never watch it but ill definately be losing my virginity for this one.

Man will beat Machine. Man creates machine therefor will beat the machine.
Should be a great fight though!!!!!

Will be a fascinating fight. Am going along to see it and experience the atmosphere.
My gut instinct says Mundine will win. How and when I'm not sure. I just hope it lasts a long time and both fighters show their best form.
My instinct also says Mundine. Unfortunately this fight is about 3 years too late, if the fight happened then we wouldn't have seen mundine fight again. There would have been a million excuses why he lost, why the result was always gonna be against him and he'd have found some excuse to try and become the world polo champ or something.
Remember his fight against Sean Sullivan?? He was lucky to win that one, and he's improved a lot since then. Green took Beyer to the cleaners in their first fight, until he was disqualified, but was bell beaten second time around.
Anyway, go the Green Machine

Just O-OT ... vale Floyd Patterson who passed away last week. Before Mike Tyson, Patterson was the youngest man to win the world heavyweight title (1956 at age 21) and is the first man to regain the title (in bouts with Ingemar Johansson in 1959 and 1960).

Mundine to run and pick holes in Green's shabby defence.
Points decision to The Man.

Been waiting for this fight for years, two or three years ago Green would of killed him, not so sure now.
Going to a mates house who has booked it through Main Event, the card starting at 5pm, does anyone know approx time for the main fight?

Based on other fight cards, probably around midnight :D
Actually, not sure - but it'll be pretty late.
Just checked out the official undercard and there are 13 fights before Green v Mundine. Most of them are only 4 rounds, a couple are 6 rounds, and there's a 12-round heavyweight bout before the main fight. John Hopoate is fighting on the undercard, too.

Its a sure bet his opponent will cop it in the ring.:o
He can probably take some comfort out of the fact he will be wearing gloves though. Then again, maybe not!

Hope Green beats the c-wrap out of him (but knowing Mundine, he'll just spew forth more words of "wisdom" and find excuses for the loss)

I don't usually care at all about boxing, but in this case I hope Green pummels Mundine senseless. Then when he's accepting the plaudits shows his gloves to 'The Man' and says something along the lines of 'Men in the ring only need to talk with these, change your name to The Boy' :p

You've been watching too many "Rocky" movies Andre.
I gather Mundine has been talking up a storm, to have been gathering such resentment?

The Man got up
That's putting it mildly.
Mundine absolutely smashed Green.
An extremely one-sided contest.
Enjoyed watching Mundine's jab snap Green's head back all night long.
Beautiful to watch.
The Man taught the Little Boy a boxing lesson.
Despite what the Korean judge thinks, obviously drunk or on drugs scoring the bout 116-114.
And I won $70 to boot!

I agree he flogged him. I won about $70 as well i put $20 to win on points. I thought i might lose it in the end as i thought the man may knockout Green.

I never watched it (i was at work) but i was hoping that Green would've knocked him out, but a few mates of mine who were at the fight & quite a few people in the crowd were saying that they should have a rematch later on in the year :thumbsu: I'm sure the money makers would agree.
For the record i'm pretty sure i tipped the right result Mundine to win on points.

Quiet as a mouse. Doesn't drink. Doesn't smoke. Family man.
Wouldn't even call him a poor man's Ali - even though that's what he clearly wants to be.
Still, there's no doubt that his antics continually puts boxing on the back pages.
And gets the turnstiles clicking over...

Yes I have heard similar stories about Choc being a great bloke etc away from the spotlight and he probably is. But as Crowked has said he says says some bloody silly things for a high profile person about issues which he probably does not really know a hell of a lot about.

I think what Mundine said was dirt dumb. What's the difference, though, between saying that and unleashing a massive war machine on two countries?
Let me see...one is just words spoken by a loudmouth the other is the actions of a President with strong links to the American religious right.
One is the foolish words of someone fighting his way up from the less advantaged sections of Australian society. The other is the action of one of the sons of the American elite which built up a monster when it suited them, provided him with the means to make chemical weapons, provided him with the helicopters necessary to deliver them and provided him with the satellite photographs to identify the enemy troop emplacements so that he could deliver them. Then turned around some years later and bemoaned his actions.
I know who I think has done less harm.

I respect his boxing ability, but that's where it ends. The guys is an utter fool, says we don't like him because he is black, that is just a cop out, i don't care what colour his skin is he is just a dimwit.
Not fit to lace up Ali's gloves as far as his mouth is conerned.

I'm not saying you approve of Bush and I agree that what Mundine said was bad, but one should also be aware of the other side of the coin.
'They call it an act of terrorism, but if you can understand religion and our way of life, it's not about terrorism. It's about fighting for God's laws. America's brought it upon themselves (for) what they've done in the history of time.'
For Mundine to justify terrorist acts on innocent civilians is outrageous but he's right to point out that the actions of imperialists have generated the hatred that spawns these outrages.
You may not be aware that during the twenties Britain invaded Iraq to quell an uprising in the same parts of the country that are now in revolt against the Americans. Bomber Harris who conducted the campaign of firebombing of German cities during WWII cut his teeth in Iraq bombing villages suspected of harbouring rebels. He said this:- "they now know what real bombing means, in casualties and damage; they know that within 45 minutes a full-sized village can be practically wiped out and a third of it's inhabitants killed or injured". (Quoted in Robert Fisk The Great War for Civilisation). Churchill who is widely regarded as a hero urged the use of mustard gas during this campaign.
