Having a look at all the outs of the teams, It's pretty obvious what one of, if not THE the main factors in winning games is.

Injuries

Case in point, these are the teams with 4 or less players out this week

West Coast (4)
Adelaide (4)
Geelong (2)
Collingwood (2)
Sydney (2)
Bulldogs (4)
Carlton (3)
Melbourne (3)
Kangaroos (3)
Hawthorn (4)
Richmond (3)
Port Adelaide (4)

And these are the teams with 6 or less

St Kilda (5)
Essendon (6)
Fremantle (5)

And these are the teams with 7 or more

Lions (9)

Think on this in your tipping this week. I personally believe that teams are much more even than people realise, and when thinking of a team as a 'bad' team or 'a team thats lost its heart' or whatever, how much thought goes into something like the size of injury list that they are trying to carry.

TBH, when I look at the size of our injury list (I ommited players that are listed as a 'test' as well, otherwise it's 11 out) you realise what a challange the club faces at the moment.

Difficult situation to win in, and I'm not being negative about the team or anything, saying more that knowing the situation is that way makes me a bit more patient with not seeing the team functioning as a well oiled machine every week.

The flaw in your argument Rawhead is that you're looking at the list for this week. Adelaide have had just as cruel a run with injuries as us, although they seem to be starting to get on top of this. But they've had a pretty damn good start to the season

And in a way, season-ending or long-term injuries aren't quite as bad as they sound if a rookie comes up and takes their place. Sure, we're missing Hads and Nige, but Harding has come up and is playing senior games and Pask has been elevated and looks close to selection.

But your point is taken that it's hard to function as a team if you take away expereince and stability.

No I agree Belgian, It's a very simplified view of team lists right now.

It doesnt take into account WHO those players or their importance to the team.

Dont take this as an excuse for the Lions either, theres a few teams that have good injury lists and arent winning games and vise versa, injuries definitely arent the be all and end all of a teams performance.

But it is a factor, and in particular a factor to be considered this week.
