The NAB cup is becoming a bit of a curse. Does winning it place unnecessary pressure on a team, especially in Melbourne? Or is it a sign that a club has peaked too early? Or is it just a coincidence?
Will you be hoping your side wins next year?

Meaningless cup. I dont think anyone looks into it too much, although it does seem to have some sort of an effect on the team that wins it

I think the first and second rounds may be meaningless, but the two final rounds are pretty fair dinkum.
The club that wins shows only that they are pretty advanced at that stage of the season.
Often the hype and intensity of the final can mean that (especially the winning team) the early H&A matches are more difficult to motivate themselves for. But teams can get on a roll and continue that form.
Eventually other clubs catch up in fitness and form. Then self-belief becomes an issue.

Agreed. St Kilda and Geelong both had good seasons in 04 after making the Wizard Cup GF, and the year before that Adelaide and collingwood played off and had good seasons. The list goes on.
There's only a perceived 'curse' because Carlton came last in 2005 after winning the Wizard Cup.
I would much rather win it than not win it...
