View Full Version : Next week - Risk taking or more of the same
How do people think we should go next week?
Was it one bad week, an abberation or has Richmond picked up on some weaknesses that need to be addressed.
It appears that Stevens will play based on Craigy's comments and Hart's injury.
Do we stick with the same 22?
And if we do not who should come in.
I would consider Knights, Needles, Skipworth, Vince and Maric at this stage.
Given his lack of game time VB may be at risk , but I would actually start him on the field as we need the energy of youth. I personally would give Stevo the vanilla and sars, but it looks as though this will not happen.
I just thought our balance was not quite there today.
We look better when we have more players capable of going through the midfield. I would be looking at giving Needles an opportunity there next week.
I do not envy the match committee though. Who do you drop? There were so many people down today.

Oh it definetly showed up some weaknesses AGAIN. This was not "just a bad day" as some people put it.
I suspect that Stevens will say in for now and I would think that Knights most probably comes in for Hart. Poplyzia might come in if he has recovered from his injury.

Who would you drop for Needles Stiffy?
Stiffy any ideas on why Goody played less on the ball today? He has been one of our big clearance players this year and I thought we missed his penetrating kick out of the centre.
Some talk that he was not 100% fit?
We were killed in the clearances - 16 -7 I think and worse when you look around the field at ballups and throw ins.
I thought our rucks were poor today. Simonds played well and he is just a handy player really.
We need a bigger effort from the boys next week.

No doubt Craig wanted to experiment today. Before the game Phil Harper was on 5AA and he always gives pretty good insight into what to expect in terms of who plays where. The plan this week was to give Massie more run on the midfield and use Goody a bit more on peripheral roles.
That sort of went out the window when Hart got inured because Massie had to go back.
EDIT: Not sure who I would drop for Needles. I think its really out of him and Knights to come in for Hart. Craig likes to stick with his players and when they perform poorly he usually backs them in next week. More often than not, it works, so I don't think there will be too many changes this week. One only at this stage IMHO.

Wallace took a lot out of last week's 2nd quarter debacle against the Roos and we obviously didn't because we won the game too easily, but the signs were there then.
Richmond were able to do for 3 quarters what North Melbourne could only do for one. Ugly game plan yes, but they played it to perfection and we played into their hands.

Exactly right and if teams out there want to beat the crows, that is EXACTLY how you play us.
Maintain the possesion, go man on man and really be desperate, go hard at the man and the footy and there is no doubt you walk away with the points if you can sustain it for longer periods of time.

Carlton cant be taken for granted, with Fev up forward and Whitnall in good form and a few of their young kids standing up, it could be a similar result to yesterday.

Aren't finals played man on man? So if opposition teams employ similar tactics to those that Richmond used against us, we would get better at combatting it and be better prepared for finals.
Myth or Reality?
