Seeing a few similarities emerge. Both are very good at gathering the loose ball, with good delivery skills and decision making. Unfortunately the similarities extend to their ability in the contested situation. Early days I know, but a pattern is emerging. :)

Never said that. I'm referring to his his ability or willingness to contest a ball in heavy traffic. I saw a few examples last night where preferred to let his team-mates do the hard stuff and wait for the easy ball. It doesn't seem natural to him, but I'm sure Mick will bring it to his attention. He'll be a very good player if he can develop this side of his game. :)

Didn't seem too fussed out bustling ling for it in our forward 50 which resulted in a pie goal!

Murphy isn't as good as you wish he was, he is a good young player with neat skills but will be shown up in alot of facets of the game and now you are worried that you picked the wrong player in the draft. If you are looking for people to tell you it is all right Murphy is much better than X player and he is the next Judd stay in the carlton board.

I didn't see that. I'll have to watch it again. I did however see several instances where he was waiting outside the pack waiting for the receive. Doesn't seem to like the physical stuff at this stage. Hopefully this will change when he puts on a little weight. :)

Has anyone noticed how parrot talks more about Collingwood than his own club

Oh wait, he follows Carlton....... now I get it

he's watched too many walker video's, except he found playing in the car park gave him too much gravel rash, so he moved in closer

He'd be lying if he said he didn't. All his threads somehow are related to Collingwood.

Just trying to provide a balanced perspective. The point I raised re. Thomas was a reasonable one, it's just that Pie-fans hyper-sensitivity prevents them discussing the issue I raised. :)

I think there needs to be some discussion about extending the Bob Rose Lexus centre

Can you start a thread on it to get things going?

In all seriousness, I’m not bagging the guy, never said other than he'll be a good player for the Pies, but all players have strengths and weaknesses, and this one has become apparent, especially in the last 2 games. He might need a stint in the VFL. :)

We picked exactly the right player in the draft. We needed someone who was a midfielder from day one. Murphy is that and has already demonstrated that he can do the centre clearance stuff. Thomas is a HFF who eventually will see some time in the midfield (ala Didak & G Ablett jun). We didn't need another small forward. Thomas will never be a full time midfielder, that is not his caper. He will play a lot of good football over the years but he will not be a replacement for Buckley, Burns or O'Bree when their time is up.

Defintely not a midfielder, Pendlebury looks more promising in that regard. Thomas looks more like a natural opportunist HF flanker. :)

Would be much better comparing someone of the Ryan Houlihan type to Fiora - both have pace and decent skills at times but lack any toughness or ability to do the defensive things well

Daisy is already one of the best defensive players at our club without the ball
