I am now really worried.
We are not 11 goals worse than brisbane yet that is how much we lost by.
Yeah we are playing kids.
yeah we have too many fringe players/ receivers/bludgers
yeah the coach has his gold pass club ie bishop.
yeah the game plan is a nightmare.
BUT i say again we are not 11 goals worse than brisbane.
Something is wrong amongst the players. i don't know if its the captain that they are not happy with or not but something is wrong at our club.i dont know who is causing the problem or what its.but it is there.

CTPOWER. Spot on again.
Could it be that there are so many who are about to lose their spots and so many who are over the moon to finally make the team? I would imagine team unity would be difficult in that situation - akin to factions. We do not have many middle aged players who bridge that divide.
Judging by the last 4 weeks we are 11 goals worse than anyone!
In fact including the final last year we have been flogged in 6 our of our last 9 games (the other being Freo who got away late, although we still keeled over in that one as well).
Id take a 3-4 goal loss one of these days. Even Carlton and Hawthorn at their lowest in recent years has managed to actually compete in the occasional game, even if they didnt win them. Second last is actually flattering as Essendon have been unlucky a few times, getting close but not over the line. We currently deserve to be on the bottom, and by a fair margin, which I am guessing we will be next week, as Essendon have actually managed to show some heart against good sides in the last month.
I will add in that if our players are drastically underperforming, someone has to take responsibility. We should not be 10 goals behind the rest of the competition week in/week out, and it isn't the young players fault for being inconsistent as some would try to make you believe.

it'll be interesting to see what williams does at selection.
will he bring back dew and motlop in place of burgoyne and kingsley or will he actually give thompson and someone else a game ie ware, pettigrew.
Will he persist with thurstans and bishop or bring in a carlisle, lower, chaplin.
like i said to u chev they must play chaplin every week.i'd rather see chaplin get 6 kicked on him than bishop as i know down the line chaplin will develop into a reliable defender that could play 7 or 8 more years with us.
I wonder if team selections are creating factions where the young blokes (who we now have a lot of) feel like they they are the scapegoats when we get beaten.

good quote ctpower.
and for this reason I think bringing back Motlop might be a good idea, he is part of the future so it would make sense to start playing the new breed together.
In Chocos interview this week he said something along the lines of " we are rebuilding so its time to swing the selections", or something like that. I can't remember exactly what he said but I was left thinking that he was going to start the rebuild and get rid of the final year players.
So I wouldn't be suprised to see Bishop dropped, Thurstans and Lonie kept in and Motlop brought back.
I was told Choco literally abuses(verbally) the players to the extent he's spent a week not talking to a particular player or 2 due to a bad performance. Even players partners had to get involved and noone is putting in the 100% as a result of many minor niggly problems snowballing and impacting team unity

excellent point. I suspect chocco is good mates with the older (gold pass holder) players but is pretty tough on the juniors and this is causing friction at the club.

Maybe I'm being precious, but I'd rather that hearsay like that wasn't put on a public message board like this one. I much prefer that sort of "stuff" kept inhouse.

I understand what you say but allowing for exaggeration there is the ring of truth in what was said. The Elijah Ware incident/s offers a window on the way we are going. IMO there is as much to be gained by acknowledging the situation to supporters as there is hushing it up. I favour the former and a huge shake-up at Alberton.

I'm not arguing with that Don. I just hate other club's supporters reading about it 'tis all.
I'd be pretty sure there are plenty of off-field "issues" at the moment given our form and lack of intensity, especially within the senior playing group. I hate other supporters having ammunition against us to troll with 'tis all. If only we'd start winning again.......:(

Being an open forum should give every member the right to say how they are feeling about what is happening down at Alberton.
We aren't the only team having "OFF-FIELD ISSUES" at present and you will find that their supporters are discussing the way that their team is playing on the oval and what they assume is happening off the oval on their boards and we have the rights to read what they say.
Fine, as much as I love my team and will stick with "the team" as a member and season ticket holder, I will not be silenced by anyone when it comes to having my say.
Yes, we are the Port Adelaide Football Club but when did that make us superior to every other team??? Why should we just sit back and not have an open and honest debate on what we are feeling regarding players and coaches??
Im not happy with what is happening down there and yes, someone is too blame for it. Not all the players can be having a "bad season".

I reckon not having Brogan in your side the last few weeks and Tredrea struggling has been big factors in the major form slump
PS: Is Brogan back this week or not?
