Is that Nathan Sachse- ex Donald and Rupanyup player. I thought that he was assistant coach of Rupanyup?? If so a bloody great pick up. Has played VCFL and will carve up in Central Highlands.
Can we get an answer on that? Sacka is an excellent footballer can play all over the ground if this is the same bloke he is a genuine star

truth b known g'riddance, with what i've seen and heard, without doubt probably IS a better player than everyone else that was on the ground on sat. and for a bloke that snagged 80 goals last yr on 1 leg to be taken off at the start of the last qtr with the game hanging in the balance would be a little bewildering to anyone. not sure whether it was the fact the player was taken off, maybe the manner and timing would be more of the issue. also not sure about your comments re blaming the coach for not getting the gig himself, with the success and tutorage he's had over his career to date, sounds like he thought he could assist the club in a coaching role, which i suppose has to be commended. have no doubt about it, wherever he ends up, will dominate.

certainly the young fella can play, and surely ud think a bloke who wanted to help further the club by becoming assistant coach wouldnt leave just because he got benched... u would have to assume there is a lot more to it than what has been mentioned here so far...
as for whether blokes have left the club because of him, i would doubt that, and as a matter of fact i hd a conversation with one of the balla recruits the other day who said mullane-grant was one of the reasons he decided to JOIN the club....
lets wait for some real facts before we play the blame game shall we?

The senior coach makes the decision with his selectors, and if he believes that was the best decision for the side, then let it be. Mullane-Grant, must show more maturity if he is going to coach in the future. This type of selfish attitude will not get you or the side anywhere. We all know how great of a player he is, but coaching material, I would say NO at this stage! He is still very young and has a lot to learn in this area. Stick to kicking goals. Pleasure to be of help, but all I stated was that the way he plays he will find himself in trouble with the way the game has gone. 20 years ago and nothing would be noted of it, but he will come back and dominate, but I bet my last $$ that he will be reported again for charging this season......

from what i understand dt, he left soon after the game (after that bless 'em all song) more so in dissapointment in that he realised he could no longer play and produce his best footy in the current environment at ballan, than in anger. as thekid suggested, it sounds like this was the result of an accumulation of issues, and not just the 5 minutes spent on the bench of last sat game as g'riddance implied.

Like to answer a couple of posts, firstly some would say getting married is like a funeral ( death of being single ) , but the fact remains that losing two key forwards and without Cartledge, along with the fact that Uhi I am told has not been sighted as yet, certainly would be a worry for scotty, additionally to KID178 you would hope that recruits have come to aclub because of what they perceive to be of benefit to themselves. But my factual discussions tell me that a few players departed because of TMG. I agree with Learmonth , I remember Robbo dragging Jamie in one of the finals and you could see in Jamies stare he wasn't happy, but he never took it any further on that day.

Getting dragged in modern footy should not really be seen as punishment for a poor effort. Smart clubs and coaches should be using the bench as a rotation for giving ruckmen/on ballers a breather or trying to get a mismatch.
As far as Mullane-Grant goes if he is having a hissy fit about spending 10 mins on the pine and has enough energy to give the coach a spray, then he clearly hasn't been working hard enough on the ground, and this probably suggests he is not coaching material anyway.

Not sure if this is factual, but word on the street is that Ballan will not be clearing TMG until he returns the 4k sign on fee to the club. Apparently a portion of this coin was used to help fund his knee operation.
Bannockburn may have to fork out the coin for him if they want him to play as I don't know many Uni students who have that sort of spare coin.

I had a pretty good view of the incident and it was difficult to tell if he had malicious intent or not. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and call it reckless - his shoulder made contact with the player's head while the player was over the ball.
I doubt that Learmonth's comments would have had any affect on the decision either. The reporting umpire(not sure of his name), is one of the better ones in the CHFL. Had the offending player been smaller and/or the umpire been different, the player may have not been reported.

The new rules state you are not allowed to confront a player from front on, so from what I am hearing from the incident he is guilty. You have to develop a new technique....

AJ, I would be very careful making comments like the one that you have posted here. This is a player that you coach against and one that you would have little knowledge of in relation to input at a club. I have been fortunate enough to play with Mulane-Grant and I believe that he would make a great coach. His knowledge of the game and ability to create a TEAM atmosphere among the group was outstanding. I would imagine that there have been many issues behind the scenes for this to occur. My opinion is that some of your behavior before you were given a coaching role could of been questioned also. You should stick to being a loose man in the backline!

After hearing some stories from a Ballan local today i would say it will be soon in the courier because mullane-grant might see it as a chance to get his picture in. while he doesn't have alot to do with the club and some of what he says was 2nd hand info, he has seen m-g in action in the pub and doesnt rate the guy very highly. He reckoned that a lot of the problems come from his off field behavior and some of the local guys can't stomach him at all.
Speaking from a personal point of view, saw him kick 4 goals in 10 mins to set up a win in the first q for them last year and he can play. Having said thast he did stuff all after that. Also saw him in a practice game this year and he looked fat and unfit and limping badly, if ballan paid for his knee op as has been said well they should ask for the money back from the doctor that did it. He hardly touched it that day and i heard he was on the juice til 3am, practice game or not thats hardly the example you want from your asistant coach.
And 4k sign on! Can anyone confirm that? if thats true its ridiculous.

I read on this thread that that $4k fee included the cost of the operation, so the actual money in the hand of the individual would be nominal after medical costs were taken out i would've thought

What I said, I think is pretty correct, coming from guys locally, they have expressed their disappointment in his leadership skills. Have coached against him twice for a total of about 3 kicks against us, but as already ststed is a gun player, but is certainly underdone in my opinion. Saw him against Buninyong in a practice match and looked very underdone.. There is a difference between star player and a good coach. As for my performances and behaviour before being a coach, I couldnt agree more with what you said Rooster. You learn from ya mistakes, and im still learning

my mail is the mullane grant issue had been brewing for awhile and thursday night it came to a head when mullane grant and the coach had a fall out over a selection issue. M-G didnt agree with putting in players from the VFL who hadn't got a game, over players from ballan who had been there since november doing the pre-season with the club. (thats coming from the man himself)
also as for az sawers from dunnstown played for st bedes mentone last year who won the flag in B section amo's so quite a drop in leagues' coming to the CHFL. the kid can play as shown with a best on saturday. will be to quick for a number of the CHFL on ballers

Daylesford played like a well oiled machine, about the only thing I didn't like about their game is the flooding of the goal square, time and time again at centre bounce, from the centre square to their goal sqare the paddock was bare
Ballan were down a few players (no excuse) They have the skills, what they don't have is Teamwork, they need to click as a Team
Best for Ballan Ben Collier, Michael Sacco, others were good at times but none consistant

Daylesford will be looking forward to having a decent hit out...looks like they will have to wait till June 16 against Hepburn to really test themselves.

Thats a massive loss for Ballan. Have heard on the grapevine that Ballan had around 4 players sent off the ground. What was this for..???
Massive loss for Learmonth with gun recruit Nick Bone breaking his ankle.... Was best on ground up till the injury...
Creswick looked a lot better then last year, but just lack the depth, they have some good systems in place, so coach Lever must be doing a good job...

Geez, Thats rotten luck about Bone - I suppose he got a sign on fee too - thats the risk clubs take these days. That would take hom out most for of the season?
Ballan must have been frustrated & consequently showed some discipline issues. Daylesford were praised by not getting sucked in. Ballans coach was reticent all day, seemed happy to just sit back & watch - didn't really offer much help to the boys, it was left up to his assistant - is that normal for him?

As far as i know there was no sign on fee. Nick is looking to be back for the last few games of the season and hopefully play in the finals series.

Easy he played good Footy all game, only being sent off in the last few minute's of the game for swearing (not the only player to do so) unfortunatly it was within ear shot of the umpire... he wasn't reported
And I'm sure it will be dealt with in house.

iwould probably have to say thompson was "BOG" DOGTALK he kicked 7, played on collier and didnt play the last quarter, daylesford kicked 11 so he would have finished wif ten easy.:thumbsu:

Daylesford played like a well oiled machine, about the only thing I didn't like about their game is the flooding of the goal square, time and time again at centre bounce, from the centre square to their goal sqare the paddock was bare
Ballan were down a few players (no excuse) They have the skills, what they don't have is Teamwork, they need to click as a Team
Best for Ballan Ben Collier, Michael Sacco, others were good at times but none consistant

Just moved down to ballarat and am interested in the league and especially waubra, want to find out why luke archie and clinton mcintyre didnt play seniors on the weekend i hope it wasnt because they were already legless from the night before. Those 2 blokes have real problems i heard they did the same same thing at starnaud a few years ago, took the cash and then pissed off in a real hurry after each game. Can someone give me an update on where those 2 r at??

very harsh, sacco was one of the few blokes who actually put in for all 4 quarters on the weekend for ballan... most gave up and went the easy way out in the last when the game was over... was definitely not a pretty game to watch
also, there were 2 send-offs, both for ballan players swearing at their own teammates...

Out of 7 posts on this Forum I've Mentioned Sacco twice (mentioned) not talked about I've also mentioned Ben Collier, Mark Benedetti, Troy Leon, Mathew Green, am I all those people as well, I have given my opinion on Ballans BOG for the "2" game's played
You mustn't know Sacco to well, he's not the sort of bloke to blow his own horn and wouldn't hide behind an alias....
"every game" you talk as if they've played half a season 1 practice match & 2 games
As for the rest of your post sounds like sour grapes to me, you must of been watching the games through green tinted glasses

Sacco certainley did put in all game as usual and was 1 of the best for ballan as dogtalk and thekid say. we have heard all the rubbish about all the big dollars that everybody is getting at ballan...getting pretty boring. the towners two from two, is this sawers a quality on-baller that can help build a serious push for the top 5? your thoughts fella's, or is it a bit early to tell with dunnstown? the league seems fairly even at this stage however...

Those two blokes don't have any problems as far as I know. McIntyre only decided to play this year 2 weeks before the season started. In my opinion he is in the best 22 but needs to earn his spot back via the peckers. Since his return, he hasn't missed a beat and wouldn't be too far away from getting a game in the ones.
Tea Bag isn't too far off playing seniors either but being a backline player it would have been difficult for the coach on the weekend to find a spot for him with quality recruits Landry and Gilmore both playing back.
As for the cash, I doubt either of those players have asked for any coin, but I wouldn't know.

Once again another well educated answer. Yeah we could have been the most dominant team in the chfl last year, but when you lose up to 13 regular senior players from the year before, to do what we did was a pretty good effort. So this is probably a rebuilding stage for the club, so to be in such a strong position whilst rebuilding does show that the club is on the right track. Well said Crusader, just sounds like sour grapes to me - would like to know how he thinks he knows the financial situation of the club from 2 years ago. Any educated person knows the non-affiliation of juniors was a far bigger threat to the club than anything financial. Now we have great juniors on board & the future is looking very bright. Played in the game on the weekend and agree that Sacco was in ballans best. You people have to remember that there is only a certain amount one player can do when his team is being totally dominated. So as an opposition player, i dont give a sh.it what sorta money he is on, as long as he plays as hard as he can and hopefully his team mates do the same.
That goes for any player in the league, big money or not. If you have the team mates that can stand there own, then anyone can be made look good.
I dont mind ballan as a playing group but it was just a couple of meat heads that ruin it for them, namely number 13. And this was expressed to me by 2 of my ballan opponents for the day. So good luck to them.

I heard he was injured for most of the year last season and wasn't fit. Was C/lintons only ruckman in 2005 and 2004 and seemed to jump all over his rivals when he was fit. Wasn't too good in the boundry throw ins though due to his lack of size and upper body stength.

Those 3 blokes shared the ruck last year but the year before he was the interleague ruckman for LPFL and got best on ground. Coxon was injured most of last year never got the chance to see him personally, Jardine ok tap ruckman but Savige always had him covered around the ground. Would definately be a good back up for Winduss at Daylesford

Yeah just like Davis pring savage etc will do at daylesford...they jumped off pretty quick from there clubs. Pretty good getting a lecture from daylesford people..why are you even in the chfl...nearly went broke in the bfl. Should be the most dominant side in the league but still not up to hepburn waubra learmonth standard when it counts. try mcdfl... might pull 1 off there.
Hotdog, you probably played in the under 14s and struggled. I will keep an eye out for you on the track.
Theirs nothing wrong with Pring and Savige going to a higher league and putting their football to the test. From what i hear they where both at C/linton for at least 6 years and probably got board of playing the same old teams every year. Its not as if they went to a lower league and chased coin.

Oh thats right i forgot that everyone plays for free at daylesford. Good on em for going, point i am making is why is sacco disloyal for leaving newlyn after playing in a flag and giving good service over a lot of years and blokes that leave their clubs and go to daylesford are not disloyal.

Good call. Have a think about it mate. Pring and savage had been at their clubs for at least the past four or so years. So the way country footy is these days thats not to bad. As for davis. has been back in victoria for a year and with his old man living in daylesford and coaching he made the move up here and im pretty sure he wont be jumping ship anythime soon. I have no doubt about your intelectual levels Attilla_the_gun, very, very low. And have a look why we are in the chfl, maybe because we are smack bang in the middle of the district. From what i have seen from your post so far, your knowledge of footy resembles that of a decrepit fool. So neck up and get your facts straight meat axe and go hang around with your window licking mates
Great reply crusader. Very mature and intelligent. what the hell does neck up mean? and meat AXE!!! do you mean meat head? and is decrepit even a word? might be in daylesford i suppose. Better to have window licking mates than date licking mates like you have.

I'd say sacco isn't disloyal. as long as you've given good service and been around the club for a while i don't see anything wrong with it. I can see how some people would find it treacherous for going to another club in the same league though.
Playing against the same blokes you used to have a beer with is something most blokes wouldn't have the balls to do.
Hats off to sacco for having balls

Seems to be getting more common these days madroota especially in higher leagues than ours. Have a look on the bfl transfers list, lot of traffic between clubs. I know he played with you before but Griggy has left the dunnys to play against them this year, not frowned upon as much as it used to be I reckon.
On Mick Sacco, bit harsh some of the mud being thrown at him. Dont know the fella personally only to play against, but from what ive seen he gives his team absolutely everything hes got and then some. I,d say there would be a fair bit of respect around the league for him... i know there is at my club. Premiership player, placed in league medal behind joey gilb I think couple of years bavck??? you know youve been in a c ontest when you play against him and 1 oof the first to shake your hand after a game. Time to lay off a bit i say.
