Heard of a nasty incident at the Royal Hotel in Daylesford on Saturday night. Involving several players from Daylesford Footy club. Heavy police contingent involved resulting in a player being locked up and two others hospitalised!! Resulting in some players now leaving the club and apparently now the president has resigned. Very nasty if true ??
Have heard the same thing this afternoon. The names mentioned are about as high profile as they come too. If there is any substance to this story it could well de-rail their hopes for back to back flags. Anybody from Daylesford willing to confirm or deny, or shed some light on what happened?

Heavy police contingent??? haha. There are only 2 police officers in the town. There was an incident, not sure how big or how small. No one locked up tho, pretty sure the cops took one person away to break it up and gave him a lift home.

Here I am timmy. You might need the Flick man out there at Hepburn, sounds like you got a white ant in the house!
I hear dan chapman broke his leg on saturday. Maybe Shane19 can put his hand up to fill the void and let his actions show what he's made of.
apparently his CV is very good, but would be nothing on Chappy so why isn't he playing? This little white ant is a very negative man.
Not hiding Shane, its just that some people have more important things in their life than sitting in front of a computer all day bagging everything.
Lets just re cap shall we... you stated on several occasions OUR CLUB...
yet you have called Andy McKay a prat, over paid bogan who Robbo will burn as soon as he finds someone quicker and more skillful. and we all know that a replacement wont come from within feralsville aka Hepburn, but there's plenty of talent in Darley and Bacchus Marsh.
Robbo is bound for failure and is leaving at the end of the year.
Ghosts of Dunnstown live on... so does the racial vilification issue, make no bones about it.
You were going to send in your membership application... (there has been nothing recieved)
You stated to Queen of Sheeba.. the way of the Burra, what does that mean? getting kicked out of the league because of meatheads like U? the club would be far better off with people like me in it, not retards like you. time for you to grow a brain and get a life. But now you have challenged me to a fight!
You stated Hepburn is a sheltered workshop with retards like Timmy & the QOS who havn't got the balls to have a decent crack. and you state that all the players are leaving at the end of the season... you name it their out of there.... Hardly things any real club person from any club would say... like i said i'm sick of your crap. ( sorry matho but we should get this out of the way and then we can all move on)
Now you ask ... do you want to mix it with me timmy, c ya at Dooleys or Savoia if youv'e got balls to front up face to face. don't think so. Keep on hiding you freak of nature.
This is how i'll answer that one. Both pubs are a sponsor of the HFNC so there wont be any fighting there, as what happened to Daylesford on the weekend at their main pub. too many jump in and help, king hits etc ..
No if you are a local i will make my way down to the club tonight in an hour at 6 o clock, i know you read this constantly so you will be able to make your way down in time.. If you are from out of town then Saturday at the footy out behind the pines behind the sheds will do, where no one is around, just me and you make your way over at about 11.30 am, i should be free then. If your not at either location then i will report back to this site on who is full of it. look forward to catching up!

Gave him a lift home to the lock up going by the Courier.
So who won anyway, the Adams family or the Cummings clan?

So the sav or dooleys is not ok with u???? pathetic....u spend all of your miserable life sucking up to crooks and thugs and u dont have the balls to meet on someone elses terms....if u arent at the sav or jasons pub, that says it all. too gutless to show your colours at home.
u think u can tell me what to do??? wog dog has got u covered....your a bigger piece shit than i thought
As i said, we at Hepburn have too much respect for our sponsors pubs. i was there tonight at 6 o clock, and you wern't, there is no terms just me & you ... and you didn't show! one last chance now dick brain. i was always taught, win lose or draw, deal with wankers like you one on one in private and dont rely on anyone else to fight your battles for you. do you have a problem with that? .....
PS not that its needed but the great man Chief has heard about our little fued and offered his services... he is not a happy camper. i have no problems with wog dog he isn't trying to cause trouble, just you asshole

clearly i was being sarcastic about fighting at a pub lol. i dont play footy in the chfl and but i do know alot about whats going on around a few clubs in the chfl. lets just say big things will go down after the big day in sept when Hepburn win the flag with coxy and andy mac getting a joint BOG for kicking 30 goals between them!
Gave him a lift home to the lock up going by the Courier.

Respect? I seem to remember a little in house fighting at the Sav between a few of the burra boys. Short memory???
Must be something in the air out daylesford/hepburn way fights happening everywhere, even getting organised on the internet now, good to see technology is being utilized.
And suprisingly there all amongst themselves.
Geez whats next, are we gunna read headline news every time a country footy player gets caught pissing down an alley or is asked to leave a hotel for too many drinks??
I would think that Daylesford should be unhappy with whomever decided that a bar fight late at night turns a footy club into headline news. As long as its not a club function or at a football match it really isnt connected to the club now is it? Or maybe they were still in their footy gear ....

Why did the club suspend the players then? They obviously saw it as being connected to the club. When 5 players from the reigning premier team (4 of who are current senior players) belt the crap out of each other on the footpath outside the pub that just happens to be a major sponsor of the club, it's news.
Going by your logic, Ben Cousins should still be playing at the Eagles. He didn't take drugs at a club function or at a football match so it's not connected to the club????
I look forward to your comeback, no doubt it will be like your immature digs at animal - loaded with those stupid smiley faces you have to insert in everything you post.

I think AFL players getting enormous amounts of money such as ben cousins are irrelevant to an incident at a vic country footy team!!
:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
If the newspaper didnt splash it all over the paper there would be no one suspended !!
OH NO do u report for the courier mr merrigan, i must of hit a nerve :D

Merrigan just a quick few questions
1. If ur so mature why include the last sentence?
2. If the incident was such headline news why was there no charges laid?
*was there no serious assults in ballarat region on saturday night where actual charges were laid?
3.If it was last years wooden spooners would it be less newsworthy?
4.It was OUTSIDE the pub....?
Its not that it was reported but the WAY it was reported.

A1. I included the last sentence because you make immature digs at Animal and you insert those stupid smiley faces in everything you post. And I should have mentioned the 'SMS' language you constantly use - like a 14 year old girl.
A2. I believe the police officer quoted in the article explained why no charges had been laid.
There probably wasn't any serious assults (as you called them) in Ballarat where charges had been laid at that point.
A3. Of course it would be less newsworthy. Even though no names were mentioned, the bush telegraph ensured that everybody knew that one of the players allegedly involved in the incident is one of, if not THE highest profile player in the league.
A4. Inside and outside then.
Given the other story concerning Daylesford that was developing at the same time regarding the president, it was probably given a higher than usual profile. Maybe there was no snow that day. I bet it put the sales up for the day.

Yep fair enough Matho, i get sick of reading other people talking shit between one and other as well, so i'll give it a rest for a while... i suggest you do the same Shane...
Bryce Nicholson - if what your saying is correct has been one of the best in CHFL footy, and has always caused us plenty of headaches.. Might have only kicked one last week but his record speaks for itself, well done on a great career.

well it looks like creswick are going to take out the spoon for another year considering the tigers have brought back venner and simpson. Looks like coach kerr has done a great job.....as for recruits the walshe boys from geelong have really stood up to be counted this year for the wickers with all 3 of them filling the spots on the pine in the magoos over the last few weeks.

Where does that leave Bunga after 2 floggings in a row???
Not in a good place... and definately out of the finals race...
With Nicholson out, Mick Steenhuis out for possibly the year, Nick Abbott out for the year and a fair few other niggling injuries affecting players... has them in a fairly bad place... Especially when they thought they'd make finals with a very good draw.
Will be interesting over the off season too see how many players come back to the club and how many players Jayden Reid lures accross from Redan.

I heard their wasn't really much in the "pub brawl" on saturday night and apparantly the fight was lucky to last a minute. I bet theirs been plenty of clubs in country vic that have had an in house scuffle this year; maybe not in the chfl because most of the clubs are weak as piss and consist of players that have little or no ticker at all. 30 years ago it was normal for team mates to have a bit of a punch on every now and then. These days blokes have generally gotten softer therefore we don't see as many punch ons. I bet if this happened 30 years ago noone would have given a flying f*** but now we live in a world where people get sued for verbally abusing someone!
The club was forced to give harsh penaltys to the players involved because of the exageration from the papers that were given an anonoumus tip from someone from hepburn. These players will be back come finals time so not all is lost.

It lasted a minute did it? Considering the fight was still in progress when the cops got there, the police response in Daylesford must be the best in the world!
Good to see that Daylesford still blame Hepburn for everything that goes wrong. Maybe it happened because two of the blokes involved used to play for Hepburn?
Maybe a couple of the players won't be back come finals time. Maybe Daylesford should have acted the last time stuff like this happened.

Hepburn were very good. Bungaree were very poor under the pressure that Hepburn was able to apply. Hepburn strenghs comes from its depth in the midfield and its ability to rotate players. The supply Cox gets is amazing so thats the 1st area that you would need to look at in shutting down if you are to beat hepburn. I think Dford are the masters of it.
Both sides play a similar style of run, carry and switch of play at all times...
Newton didnt play, either did Raak. With Chapman going down Ild expect both to play next week.
Looking forward to the challenge of going to the Spa centre and putting in a good result which we haven been able to do over there the past two times. In saying that I think we are a better side than the past couple of years. Will be good to say hi to all my friends over Hepburn as well, hopefully they might have a heater and blanket waiting for me and a warm cup of soup on entrance with my $8.
Now that you have had a look at Hepburn a lot closer i'd be interested to hear your thoughts if you would like to share them. and did Learmonth just have a bad day?

sorry sheen of queeba, i hate to dissapoint you but there was no involvement from the Hepburn players, just some patrons drinking there and a former local who came down and started some trouble... you may have to dig a little further to take the heat off whats happened at the southern end of spa country.

Who are you you idiot?
The incident in 2000 is was a blight on the game, the league, the club and everyone involved. It is still viewd by nuetral observers as a premeditited attack by a mob on a team that they couldn't beat on the field regardless of the story that was used to justify it.
To the mod cant we put in some steps to ban the blokes who keep putting up this crap about potential brawls and violence.

i am one who would like to make an apology... i got sucked into responding to this shane bloke and i shouldn't have.( my mistake was that i tried to defend my club) it is quiet obvious that he isn't a Hepburn person and is only trying to cause trouble, and i suggest everybody else just ignore his comments. He has nothing positive to say, and his thoughts DEFINETLY DO NOT represent that of the HFNC.
If everone just ignores his comments, hopefully he just might fall by the wayside, otherwise if we keep replying he just might destroy this forum.
There are a lot of positives in the CHFL and we dont need to always concentrate on the negative aspect.
eg. The top five teams, there isn't much between them... the premiership race is wide open
Now that Dunnstown have a sniff, can they topple Daylesford this week and sneak a little closer to the 5.
How will Learmonth respond in the next two hard weeks ahead after their first loss
Coxy on his way two his second ton in a row
Bryce Nicholson, did he retire or not??? Matho were you on the ball or not, did you prematurley retire a CHFL champion?

Any other discussion other than football talk will be deleted and messages sent. I allow the odd joke here and there, but this is thread is to discuss the Central Highlands Football League. Not "The Main Bout At Thingo's house in Hepburn".
Right now we have out the way, how about we start talking about footy again and about the league etc.:thumbsu:
To timmy, i got told personally that Bryce had announced his retirement straight after the Hepburn game. Yet, i walk into the rooms on Sat and see him in Footy gear pumping up the lads? I got shafted and apologies for giving false info, but my source has been at Bungaree for over 25 years . Or maybe Bryce felt he could just play the last few games? Not to sure

Hepburn were very good Timmy, Full credit to Robbo and his coaching staff, and more importantly to their players. They have smashed us 3 times in a row at Hepburn and for Learmonth to be a well respected and serious threat, we cant afford to lose the way we did. Hepburn were excellant in skills, hardness at the ball and area very even side. Easily the best side we have played, but I still think on any given day on neutral grounds any of the top 6 would be confident of beating each other.
We need to bounce back this week and have 2 very tough games which I want to see if we are real contenders. As they say when a dog has a cat up against a brick wall the only way to get out id HISS, CLAW & Scratch and thats what we will be doing this week..
If you offered me 11-1 at the start of the year I would have taken it. If you offer me 11-2 after this weeks games, no I wouldnt exceprt it. We need to be 12-1 to give ourselves a chance of top 3.
Very interesting week... Will say alot come Sat afternoon.

Probably a lot better than if an incident were to happen in hepburn between a few hepburn footy players which has probably happened in the past no doubt. Do you think that the incident wouldn't have occurred if daylesford acted last time it happened? I think it still would have don't u? And as long as footy players continue to drink alcohol (which will be forever) there will always be a barny here and there in the future at any club!
Maybe I was being a bit harsh on chfl clubs, but anyone thats played in the lpfl knows that the footy is a bit more bash and crash, probably due to all the older blokes that play out there.
I don't want to #### off back to c-linton at the moment cos i'm enjoying my footy with the doggies....simple! Gees mate your bringing out the primary school calls I haven't heard calls such as ####wit and feral for a long time well done the classics never die!
C-linton probably do have a few punch ons every now and then but it doesn't change the fact that they've won 3 flags in 5 years now does it, it doesn't seem to worry them in the flag winning department.
see you on the footy field budz.....

I've never played in the lpfl but I have seen plenty of it. Cargnham are a genuinely hard tough and intimidating club, no doubt it's a quality that has helped them win those flags and I respect them. Illabarook are hard at it from what i've seen but after that I wouldn't say the footy is any more crash and bash than any other league. I should say that I haven't seen Rokewood play this year - given that they are on top they must be hard enough.
Going on how sore i am on a Sunday after playing against them, I'd say that the physically hardest sides in the chfl are Hepburn, Waubra, Dunnstown, Bungaree, Ballan and Clunes. I always know I've been in a contest against those clubs regardless of the scoreboard. Interested to hear the opinions of others.
But you're the one who's played in both leagues so I have to take your opinion on board.
As for the rest of your post, I can't fault it. You make a lot of good points and I have to concede you've well and truly smacked my bum on this one.
Not sure how I came up with ****wit, it just came out.

Learmonth, i have been informed that the article in the Burra web site and in the local newspaper wrongly suggested that you watched the last quarter from behind the glass windows of the social rooms to escape the cold weather. Clearly the scribe that wrote it was ill informed and apoligises for the questions that you have had to answer from people who thought this was the case. Next time the facts will be checked before going to print.

I hope your not serious that this actually happened, as if A.j would go and sit anywhere the feral hepburn supporters in fact i doubt there would of been 1 learmonth person behind those glass windows and ill go as far to say that there hasnt been ONE opposition supporter behind those windows due to the VERY foul language and VERY un-called for insults which come from burra supporters coming from that side of the ground.
Last year when i went to hepburn i learnt 9 new insults and swear word combinations
This year it was 12.
Great place to take your kids to watch football.

Just another case of Hepburn taking a cheap shot. Weird one. I hope an apology appears in the local rag next week for the locals and supporters who believe everything they read.

If its gone to print isnt it called slander? What a joke that local paper must be.:thumbsd:
However i was wondering if any ressies players from daylesford were reported for "umpire abuse", if players are suspended from a club for a late night brawl, which occured off the footy field then surely abuse to the extent which must of occured, re club president resigning warants some kind of attention? If no one was reported, is it any wonder that this type of thing occurs, and whats the point of someone making statements about it in resigning whilst failing to follow the proper channels in place designed to discourage this kind of behavior???
Just some food for thought....i dont anticipate any answers.

Id like to know:
- what everyones top 5 predictions are from here on in.
- Are Hepburn the real deal?
- Will Learmonth go out in straight sets?
- Can Daylesford and Waubra get there again?
- Are Buninyong just making up the numbers?
- Can Dunnstown make the finals etc.
I'd like to know the happenings of the things that matter in this leaugue!

- Top 5 should remain unchanged, the only team that may sneak in is Dunnstown, although it would be a tough ask.
- Hepburn are a solid side and play extremely well at home, but finals are played on the larger grounds and not in their sardine can... now b4 the Hepburn faithful jump upon their high horses, im not saying the Burra will struggle on a larger oval, i am giving them credit for playing their home ground very well.
- Learmonth are still a big query and will be tested in the coming weeks with Bunninyong, Waubra and Dunnstown. The are nicknamed the June premiers by some and the next three weeks will prove if they are genuine finals contenders.
- Dismissing Waubra and Daylesford would be silly. Hepburn appear to be the yardstick and have dropped only one game for the year being to Daylesford. Waubra were 20 odd points up on Hepburn but fell away late in the game. Both sides have players returning from injury at the right time of the year, i wouldnt be leaving either out of my multiples.
- Bunninyong have proven their worth throughout the year and from all reports are peaking at the right time. They've lost a couple of extremely close games against Hepburn and Waubra and if they work on their discipline, they could take it out.
- Extremely tough run to the finals, but can make it if they're good enough. Could upset some of the top 5's top 3 aspirations.

Advocate is a joke, worst paper in Australia. As for the umpire abuse case. Knowing the reservs boys pretty well, there was no way known anyone would have been reported cause there was no abuse, just a lot of back chatting, which when i checked last was not reportable. If anything the umpire should have been given some kind of reprimand due to the threats made against one of the players during the game. Always more to every story if you dig a little deeper Dr Who.

Yea thats what i figured. The ex president made a bold move in adding this as even a partial reason for his resigning when no reports were made, or else this was simply highlighted by the media?

Nick Bone went to the tribunal and was found guilty. Received 1 week. Not sure of result from Ash Coultard? He would have to be pushing the 16 week barrier which then equates to a life ban...... His incident in my opinion should only equate to 1 or 2.....

great effort by coxy and macca yesterday with 19 goals between them - and 1 from uhi - to give us 20 of the 25 we kicked against springbank. great effort boys from our prized recruits.
dont like hearing some of our players didnt hang around for the senior game and went back to spa country to watch daylesford play dunnstown.
can any bulldogs tell me if it was true a couple of our better young kids were at vic park instead of springbank?
maybe theyre getting more annoyed at being overlooked for 35yo raaky?

If its the two young fellas i noticed up there and they are the "the better young kids" hepburn is really struggling. Just an under 18 watching his brothers and a hack twos footballer thats a sook from what i have been informed.

Ha fat lot of good that did. Powell by all reports had 30 plus touches. But obviously couldnt make up the 70 point thrashing they recieved. Maybe Learmonth should stop wasting there money on hi-tech treatments like this and start saving for better recruits next year!

Not to mention the 5 50m penalties they gave away.
Undisciplined but also shows they crack a bit under pressure.

Apparantly there was a bit of a squeeze at creswick on the weekend, with a few new commers playing in the ones this caused a chain reaction down the grades with some all year trainers sent to the water and orange duties. anyone care to elaborate..........i hear there are a few unhappy campers out at the wickers....

Digga's is a freak he was underused at the roosters i saw alot of him in his earlier roosters days and he is impressing to watch he has every attribute you want in a midfielder and he will never once pull out of a contest, if bunningyong have him for finals and once Eddy Den Ouden gets back they will be the dark horses of the final 5.

welcome to the site polly, obviously you have read the stupid comments by the great Shane 19... Hepburn's number 1 fan... hasn't deserted us, goes to all our games. Why did he bag us for playing a dinosaur like Raaky in that same game? i dont know because he reckons he can find every moloscule, every detail that Hepburn get up to, but the dick wit cant notice that a 6 ft 6in Raaky didn't play that day. He was named in the paper but was injured .

Well Timmy, i dont know who Shane19 is but as a Daylesford person i personally do not want them associated with our club. Anyone who slags our their own club in a public forum is not a clubman at all. A clubman is supposed to support their club, not degrade it. Is Daylesford a genuine threat after all of the off field incidents? Are Learmonth front runners and have they run their race? Are Waubra hitting their straps at the right time of the year? And are Bunningyong a real threat or just flat track bullies because they haven't beaten anyone of significance to date?

With the finals approaching and the top five settled to an extent, what is everyones thoughts on the teams playing off. 1. Are Hepburn that far in front of everyone else? 2. Is Daylesford a genuine threat after all of the off field incidents? 3. Are Learmonth front runners and have they run their race? 4. Are Waubra hitting their straps at the right time of the year? 5. And are Bunningyong a real threat or just flat track bullies because they haven't beaten anyone of significance to date?
1. No, ladder may suggest but finals are a new kettle of fish. Definately in the box seat though.
2. Yes, off-field incidents are well and truely in the past and things are looking good for the mountain men.
3. No, they will be right in the mix deep into finals
4. Yes, looking very dangerous and could go all the way
5. The dark horse, assume nothing....expect anything
So in other words, its anyone's guess as to who could take the flag this year....could be the best finals series we've seen in a while:thumbsu:

As stated before, anyside in the top 5 is capable on their day, problem is for 4/5th is if they have a bad day their gone, so its imperative to get the double chance or the weeks rest which Hepburn will get and have earnt.
2nd/3rd position are still up for grabs between Dford/Waubra & Learmonth. Depending on this weeks result between learmonth & Dunnstown will determine the final ladder standings. If Learmonth win, they will keep the double chance as you couldnt see them losing to Springbank in the last game of the year. If Learmonth lose this week, then they wont be able to make up the percentage that Waubra and Dford have over them, so would end 4th. Which would mean the ladder would finish
Learmonth Win-
Hep
Learmonth
Dford- 2nd if they beat Hep in last rnd
Waubra
Buninyong
Waubra could grab 3rd spot and most likely will on percentage if Dford lose last game..
Learmonth lose
Hep
Waubra
Dford
Learmonth
Buninyong
So im sure that Waubra & dford will be looking on closely and hoping that the towners can role us. Waubra might just throw in a couple of Barralls for D'Town's mad monday for incentive which they have been known to do.
Should make for a great finals series, but honestly believe you need double chance to win it. 4th and 5th will be just to hard with elimination all the way through.

From memory two sides have made it through to the Grand Final after playing off in the Elimination Final, Learmonth way back in 1994 and lost to Dunnstown convincingly, and the Clunes juggernaught steamrolled everyone in 2005 and had Hepburn on the ropes in the Grand Final... But they did have a bloke callen Owen Wetherley playing with them.. lucky for us we had Sam Newton who could at least nullyfy his brilliance, otherwise we would have been in serious trouble. The race is wide open and it should be the most even finals series in many years. All sides very capable on their day and i think there is no stand out team at this stage.

I agree elimination all the way through would make it near impossible but c-linton did it last year from 4th I know this isn't the lpfl but this is just an example.
A couple of weeks rest before the grand final can always help too but:
* In 2004 skipton won the second semi and had the rest and lost the granny
* 2005 C-linton won the second semi and lost the granny.
* 2006 skipton won the second semi and lost the granny.
* 2007 natte won the second semi and lost the granny.
* last year Waubra won the second semi and lost the granny.
When you think the rest would do the world of good maybe the team that has the rest goes into the grand final a little less match ready.
Personally I think anything can happen in finals.
