Did anyone see deal or no deal tonight? (Monday) Mullane-Grant was on i think. I think he won $250, which i hear is about a third of what Ballan are paying him next year...

Russell a good ruckman, but he has to improve he's skills. I watched Waubra v Bunninyong last season at Bunninyong and Russell missed a goal from the goal square, and i hear skontra gave him a spray and told him to handball for the rest of the year. Unfortunately quality players dont do that. But i spose it payed off cause the Waubra boys came home with the Trophy.

I didn't see it but gee, $250...That's got to be disappointing for the big man. What happened? If that's true about his match payments, he'd be able to afford to take a risk or two and go for the big bucks!

Someone once said on here that he kicked 80 goals for the season. I saw him play a game this year and I'm sure he didn't kick a goal but both the paper and the CHFL website had him down for 2 goals! What's the deal (or no deal) there? Either way, 75 goals is a good effort!

Yep your right Harry, and someone told me that in that game Nick Moran played on Nolan that game in the last, and won the game for Waubs. Was that the Waubra game? He got dudded out of a couple of goals in an earlier game so it was just payback for him. Didn't he look great on telly, great head for radiohttp://www.bigfooty.com/forum/images/icons/icon10.gif

There are two brothers, one who plays for Daylesford (Tim Wright) & Learmonth (Dave Wright). Both were over heard having a conversation with Dave asking for a Black coffee with milk, and Tim being told that if you ever miss a call on ya land line phone, all you have to do is dial *10# with hs reply being " Im not that sill, I know there is no 10/ten on the phone." No I can't and I would doubt it, simply because Scotty is in Queensland so I don't know who would have signed him. He is a backman who can play in the key spots and a very good player. Was either b & f or runner up at Sebas this year. I hope learmonth is right, but he's been wrong before and he might be jumping the gun again.

Yes Wills is a very solid player, although you don't have to be a star to finish in the top couple in the B & F at the burra. Considering Wills is a full back and the ball is in his area 95% of the time, it would be hard not to catch a few votes occasionly.

Bunga looking good for next year. Knowles 100% going, along with D Quinlan and they are speaking to Rumble and Nunn.

Rumble, Nunn and Quinlan have all struggled with injury over last couple of years. All 3 are probably not as good as they used to be, and have missed a lot of footy so time will tell with all of them. Rumble and Nunn still young so have a lot of work to do over summer to get where they need to be to get a kick in CHFL, Quinlan is one of the best in the region when fit so if he can get 15 plus games in he will be the biggest pick up in the league.

Learmonth have signed McGuigan and co from East point so things looking good for them as well..

Massive signings for Bunga if this is true. In my opinion Nunn & Rumble will play at Redan- Thats where there heart is. Only thing that will stop them is injuries, where they would then go to the CHFL and be stars.
Quinlan was one of the best in the BFL a few years back, and even though he is bigger then Fat Domino, he will be a star in the CHFL, with his footy smarts and skill on both sides.

Apologies to B Powell, G Handley, C O'Brien

Feel free to add or disagree Ladies and Gentlemen

BACK ON THE BEST TEAM OF 06

Not a bad list here.... From a game i saw i would have to say that Handley is very unlucky to not be included in your 22. Did come 2nd in league B&F.

Oh, and in your forward pocket !!! I hope you mean A. McKay

So what are other peoples versions of Best Team for 06?

From talking with a committee member last night at the STAG hotel, Drum has just gained employment in Melbourne, so they were unsuccessful in that area. Learmonth have spoken to a few East/Point players who supposedly are unhappy or dont like the way the coach goes about things. That is usually the only way you can attract players away from a club.
Heard Aj and the recruiting committee are very busy, and he has said that there should be a few big names signed over the next few weeks. I guess we will have to wait and see who they are, but Ild gather if they are speaking to East/Point players then McGuigan would certainly be one as he is a former learmonth player and has plenty of good mates out there.
To have Critter back at our club would be sensational, as he is a former Rookie of the Year (2004) R/U in League Medal (2005) and BFL team of the Year (2006) quite an achievement for a 20 yo.

He was at the Whytcheproof races with all his Learmonth mates last weekend according to talk at learmonth..??

Chris McGuigan came from CHFL to go to the BFL. He played all his juniors at Gordon and played in three junior premierships there. Then he went to Learmonth and played there in 2004 & 2005 before going to East so coming back to the CHFL would be no real surprise.

When he went to East in 06 his plans were to go and try his luck in the BFL for a few years though, so he must have changed his plans if he is returning to the CHFL.
Maybe he wants to return to CHFL to play in his rightful position of an onballer. He was very successful as a forward pocket this year, but with his lightning fast speed and ability to kick a ball 50-55 meters on both feet he plays his best footy in the middle.

Speaking of, this week I was shown the latest video doing the rounds on mobile phones. It's simply titled The Lyndall. Features AJ himself, as well as a decent looking older chick who I hear is on the Daylesford committee.

Seems he doesn't just leave his coaching persona on the field - from the little audio that I could hear, he was ordering her around as if she was one of the guys out on the track. It doesn't show Beachams face, although I think I could make out a grainy silhouette of a guy sporting a visor.

I'm not having a dig though. I've seen her in real life and she's not a bad catch in my opinion. Nice work.

Hey Learmonth, has your good friend AJ shown you this video? Surely someone knows more about this. Pretty funny stuff if its true.

It seems AJ doesn't mind a bit of camera phone action. Not that long ago there was a picture of him and he's house mate who is a good mate of mine getting around that, well, lets just say he wouldn't be as proud of this one as he was the recent video stream. If AJ put half as much effort into he's camera phone action as he does with he's footy, the Learmonth boys should have no problems taking the cup home in 2007!!!

Have heard on the grapevine that Big Nige Reid has been offered the assistant coach role to try and keep him around.

Gladman has offered to accept the cheque again if they need him, but Gordon are a little reluctant given his recent coaching record:
2003 - Creswick (last)
2004 - Creswick (last)
2005 - Gordon (last)

Agree with you D-Dog & Pelican annonymous banter is best.

No news on recruits at Dunnstown but heard they have pleaded with Aikman to finally hang up the boots before they have to shoot him. Apparently has 'one more' year left in him.

Have heard that Skontra has been chasing recuits hard for Waubra in the last few weeks to go back-to-back. Steve Nicholson (Redan) has been wined and dined, and reportedly a done deal to pull on the kanga colours next year after cracking the ********s at being dropped from the Grand Final.

Any other recruiting news?

RyanG, before you go running your mouth, identify yourself and how you know so much about daylesford?

I have been at the club for the last 6 years and yes you are right we played finals for most of those, that is one thing you said that is correct. As for all of your other comments, unless you have been a mystery member of the Daylesford Commitee for the last 5 years, you would not have a clue about the financial status of the club.

So all i ask, is that you identify yourself and put some credit behind your comments because you are way off base.

DfordDog, Mate i could not care if it is AJ or not, and thanks ryang for your support in finding a shortcoming in DfordDogs postings, all i was saying is that its not really hard for people to work out when he posts these sort of messages in the NTFL thread and clearly states "Brother".

I know Tim and AJ to say hello too and thats about the extent of it, both were reasonable footballers that played around various leagues and seemed to chase a dollar or two. Tim was a better player than AJ but perhaps AJ might be a better coach than Tim. Time will Tell.

For starters, Aj is on no where near 25K, most of the money goes into his players, as a coach is only as good as the cattle he has on the park.
Robertson- Heard 30K (Not bad for a non playing coach)
Dford -No more then 10k
Gladman- Heard he was on 14K but ended up getting another 4k this season to total 18K- Not bad for a coach that seems to coach every side to the bottom???? Heard he is going back to Creswick this season>>>

As for all teh others, I have no idea, but would suggest b/t 8K & 16K
Learmonth, i can tell you that from very good sources, daylesfords coach is doing it for nothing, only so he can coach his sons, with the older one of them going to be the best footballer in the chfl by a mile.

This is merely a ploy by Chew to up his price at Newlyn as his main priority is to keep the bank balance propped up. Weight issues in the off season has been a major concern for Chew for quite a few years now, but if he sticks to his rigidly enforced herbal remedy diet, then the football world is his oyster (kilpatrick).

Thats massive if you have a coach who is doing it for the love Mr Crusader. Allows dollars to be distributed to where you need it. A pot belly in the visitors room due to the coldness, maybe some mineral water from the springs for the opposution if its hot, and a new thumb for your trainer instead of a BIG TOE, and some counsilling for one of ya die hard water boys as when the cats lose, he heads home to belt the missus, from what I have heard,???

A new thumb maybe, but as for the visitors, they can stay in the cold, no pot belly and no mineral water mate. And as you have seen our visitors rooms, they will be half that size as well next year and the vistors coaches box placed near the far goals. I remember a few lakies complaining when we moved them for the game at vic park this year, should have concentrated more on the footy. As i can remember it was a bit of a hiding. haha. nah learmonth ill see what i can do for you mate. If only you'd knew my playing abilities you'd know i'm no premiership player! From my sources and talking to Reidy he is most likely taking Barnett & Glasson who are just off senior material at Redan. He hasn't got that much pull and that will show with there recruits come early Jan.. Not sure on Quinlan, if he gets him then that will cover 3-4 recruits if fit.... Waubra seems to be recruiting as good as anyone at the moment if they get that big bloke over the line from the Hampden league (not sure of name). Again, that's what i've heard and like most of all the talk it's possible just sh*t anyway.

Agree with you on Quinlan quality player, and great skills would top up the Bunga midfield. If you find out who the big Hampden league bloke that Waubra are chasing that would be good.....I know a few blokes who played with Cobden who lost the Granny this year, so might be able to find a bit out.

He can play (when fit), I 've seen him hold Sutton to 1 goal in 2003 down @ Melton South but u would never tell him that as his head would explode.(U played in that match) I hope he doesn't read this as he is already on very good terms with himself.
He's a good bloke but can turn into Peter hoar on the piss tho.

I thought he was Pelican, however I have been informed of Pelicans & ur true identity which i'll lock in the vault.
I didn't realise u wanted to give him a reach around.

I know both reasonably well & have seen both of them play a fair bit, but not for a couple of years.

Don't doubt King Loves Redan as it is a great club.

I think we should give Nicholson a break. He's been a developing player trying to consolidate himself in that side for some time now and there doesnt appear to be a whole lot of people working with him and taking him seriously at Redan. Maybe being dropped for the GF was the deciding factor (if he does infact leave). Id imagine there is more to it than just cracking the sads because of that, good luck to him.

Character is a BIG thing in any sport, and from what I was told his form didnt warrant selection, and with them winning the Flag and his replacement in Barker being good all day, I believe Murrihy and the selectors got it right.
He lacks character and wants an easy way out, stand up be a man, learn from a quality side and bounce back. No use feeling sorry for yourself. The other guy who was dropped in Chris Matthews has been emergency in their 3 finals, and he still plays there.

Get over it Nicholson, and prove to everyone in the BFL that you can play at that level.

redan were in a tough position come gand final day as all year they had 2-3 injuries to seniors players and then finally had a full side grand final day. so players like matthews and nicholson who had spent the majority of the time in the ones didn't make the cut when the selectors had a full list to pick from. nicholson will be a handy recruit for whoever picks him up but i wouldnt think he would be must use to waubra as he has a habit of getting in the road of fulll forwards such as walsh(2005) and jones this yr at redan. so for lee browns sake i hope they dont play him deep in the fwd line.

I happen to know Nicho pretty well and there is nothing weak mentally about Nicho, he is one of the hardest working and most enthusiastic young blokes getting around. He is very athletic, and a good mark over head, with a bit more bulk and a bit of strength he would be one of the hardest forwards to match up on.
He probably doesn't fit the 'culture' at Redan and perhaps a change of scenery is the answer. All good for Waubra though because he will carve it up in the CHFL.

Ok he might be a handy player in the CHFL but I'm sick of blokes saying that a fringe player in the BFL will come into the CHFL and carve it to bits it wont happen. CHFL is getting stronger every year and the 23rd best player at a BFL club will not carve up the CHFL and would probably not even be in the top 10 players at Waubra if that is where he (nicholson) was to go.

Yeah fair comments regarding the GF selection. The only point I was trying to make is that alot of people on here are stating that he just cracked 'em after being dropped and thats why he's leaving, when I think there is a bit more behind it. He has some good mates at Waubra, also has some good mates at Redan, I know personally that he is doing his head in over the decision. But he is not that shallow to just up and leave because of that single incident. I dont think there is any bad blood there, I think he just see's himself playing a more important role somewhere like Waubra.

Yeah the plan was to get the big unit on a plan to become more mobile so Skontra can throw him in the middle on occasions like Donald use to. He'd be close to the biggest kick in the league so it would be handy to have him launch a few out of the middle. Unfortunately Colonel Sanders had other plans and I've heard he's blown out to a $1.25 now!

Yeah thats a fair comment, and I reckon he would be asking himself that too. But as I said he has been trying to break in for the last 3 seasons, for probably not the results he would have liked. You certainly cant blame the Redan selection board as the results speak for themselves, but I reckon he might just be thinking that if he stays he'l get his tyres pumped up only for someone else to become the key forward and leave him back at square one and wondering if he would have been better off somewhere else? He is young and it would be tough for him to know what is the right choice. I just think Redan have missed their window to develop him, if they gave him the attention 2 seasons ago, by that I dont mean a permanent spot in the seniors, he might have a bit more faith and not be looking to leave. All the same a club like Redan will struggle to retain players after having so much success in recent years, its no ones fault, players just naturally want more opportunity, you cant keep everyone happy.

Honestly CC i am not sure where that rumour has come from but i honestly doubt that his blood brother skontra or his girlfriend would allow that blow out to happen, if it is true he is just making up for the 5 week ban on alcohol that happened before finals and just storing up energy for the upcoming preseason which is starting in the next couple of weeks. I don't think that he would have ever gone without alcohol for that long in his life. Saw Brown play on the odd occasion last year and i think Waubra would only need two kicks from the centre if he was in the guts....must be all that so called KFC behind him hey uncle cc!!!!!

John Coleman is a example of taking his opportunities... Didn't get a go at redan and become a very good player for Waubra... Nicho will go ok. As for Reid, I reckon he'll get smashed every week and will struggle to kick 20 goals for the season.

No way in hell will the big man reidy get smashed every week and struggle to kick 20 goals for the season. He is a 50 goals plus goal kicker in this league as is Nicolson. Reidy will dominate and smash anything in his path...He will get his half tone in the year and probably also take 10 of his famous negative hangers...

I can all but confirm that Sacco will coach Newlyn next year with Shane 'Wizza' Edwards (ex-sebas) as his assistant.
