Origin got 255,000 in Melbourne, which is the same as the preview half hour of the soccer got

Irrelevant. The Soccer was live. The Rugby League was delayed at 9:30, and didn't kick-off until 9:50 on Melbourne screens. You could certainly have banked on 400,000 (at least) had the SOO been on live.

The soccer peaked on SBS at 0ver 800,000(the least viewed station where most of the viewing public dont know where it is on the dial) compared to thugby on CH9 the MOST viewed station with 225,000 = no contest.
How do you reckon if the regular Sydney and Brisbane viewers of CH 9 were forced to watch an AFL SSO game between VIC /WA/SA in prime time on a wed night?? The squeals would be heard forever!

I never said the RL would beat the Soccer in Melbourne. I said (correctly) that comparisons are irrlevant because one was live and one wasn't.

It's worth noting, though that the RL outrated the Soccer Australia wide even though the Soccer was live into all 5 capital cities and the RL live into just two of them.

Origin - 255k (delayed, game that means something, interstate)
Soccer - 568k (live, nothing game, 95k at the ground and more in the pubs)

no doubt about that..............see how sheeeds came out all guns blazing after the soccer and delivered that pep talk to all the frightened melbourne footy supporters.

"we have to grow the game and blow the other codes out of the water........cos aussie rules is the best game in the world!!!.............blah, blah, blah."

pathetic really, im surprised demetriou didn't stick his head up and have a pop at soccer as well.
whenever a rival code comes to town and draws a big crowd or creates some media interest the usual afl suspects always lash out in their narrow minded provincial fashion.
