i read in todays herald sun that dane swan moulded he's pre season on the elite running ben johnson, the reason im saying this is, if some of our young players were to do the same who would we look to as a roll model at the club?

The Little Injun That Could
If your just talking about guys that train really well, you'd have to look at someone like Chambers or Prendergast. Both excellent trainers that keep themselves very fit during the summer.

refering more to the fact, that johnson does find the ball alot with his hard running, and i cant say i can name an experienced carlton player on our list for the young guys to follow.

Ben Johnson an elite running player???
He's just a good ordinary player who's playing well in a good team. Many of our players would look a lot better in a good team.

just using the quote stated in the paper today BW, agree i wouldnt say he is an elite player either, but he does run hard, i was after someone our kids could follow into games with same work ethic from our senior experienced player list:)
They'll look up to Murphy, who else? ;) :p
Yes it is a very sad state isn't it? :o

Well leadership is a very scarce facet at our football club.
Obviously Kouta is hugely admired by the playing list, but lets face it, hes no longer the young and vital kouta of the past.
In the way of true role models to the younger generation i think fevola with his work ethic shown this year will become a huge influence. The results that can be seen from something as simple as his second efforts off the ball will greatly influence the younger players. However, fevola is mainly restricted to the forward line.
What our club needs is a young, strong running leader which we lack. Stevens has potential, however his integrity with breaking taggers has been much maligned and will probably hold him back as a leader or even captain.
One things for sure though, our long list of mediocre performers need to find some direction within the club in order to find some consistency.
